I don't believe the artist thought of it that way, but it really shows the freed slave as below Lincoln. And it also seems like he only gets his freedom as an act of mercy. But freedom is a right that's not to be given unless it was taken before. Lincoln is shown in this statue in a position of power he should not have had and that is needlessly glorified.

This is the most time I've ever seen Stephen Colbert really upset, his heart is broken for his country and you can feel his anger throughout the video... I don't live in America but I follow the American politics a lot because whoever is the president there literally affects the entire world... I'm terrified Trump might try to stage a coup or something, and with all those planned riots happing next week I'm afraid something will happen...
