You just saw a 58-year old man, 6'4", involved in professional basketball for 27 years, break down on television because he feels powerless to face the neglect and hatred he and his peers are facing every day of their lives any longer. If that man feels impotent, imagine how a less well-off person facing the same adversity must feel. I honestly can't imagine it since I've never been in a remotely similar situation, but I hope that something can be done to fix these issues as soon as possible, since it's long overdue to do so.

Stephen’s best monologue I’ve ever seen. I’ve never seen him speak so seriously and tell relatively a few jokes. That’s how serious the situation is in our country.
I agree. Stephen had been putting in too much effort in fitting in jokes. Some subject matter shouldn't be interlaced with jokes. Sometimes you just need to let the jokes rest.

However, I believe we have to assert our individual right to make our voice heard in what is supposed to be a democracy so that's the point. Current system a mess.

Make no mistake folks, the parallels between 1930s Germany and America in 2020 are no longer a fun thought experiment. We should have taken this proverb to heart 4 years ago before things got REALLY bad, but if enough of us open our eyes and see what's really happening perhaps we can step back from the brink of disaster. Anyone from a country suffering under an authoritarian regime can tell us that they wouldn't wish it on anyone- and they can also tell us that the United States is well on its way to fascist dictatorship. I urge everyone who reads this to spread the message far and wide.
I'm not trying to fear monger, but we all need a healthy dose of "it CAN happen here," before it DOES happen here.

As a Republican, I tried to watch the RNC on the first day. About thirty minutes in, and I go "NOPE. This is not the RNC. This is the FNC: Fascist National Committee."
Are you still voting republican in the elections? Even in the down ballot offices? Because many of the Republicans I know have switched to independent and won't support them in local offices since the mailers that come full of the same rhetoric as trump has been using to whip up fear. I can't stand the baseless accusations of the right wing that have taken hold in your party, ...but it's not really your party anymore, is it? If you condone the actions of any of them, vote for any of them, aren't you also one of them? Sincerely asking, since the last time I could have a reasoned exchange with a conservative was over two decades ago. Rebecca Presti I’m not a conservative republican, but my father has been for over 40 years, and even he despises Trump and laments about the state of the party. I’ve been voting Democrat since 2016. I do not support the direction of the Republican Party in any way. Most, if not all of them seem to view this president as a messiah - the one to save the Republican Party from the “tyranny” of the Democrats.
Both me and my father came to the realization that the Republican Party behaves like they haven’t won anything in decades and are desperately doing anything they can to keep the country Republican. It’s sickening, and it’s why me and my father refuse to vote Republican in this upcoming election. He’s willing to vote for a second Democrat in the 40-some years as a Republican, and I’m on board as well.

Not once did the RNC speak of better days for all of America's people. Every RNC speaker, including Trump, spoke like we live in a different America. If you're anything else other than Republican, then those people are to be feared. That's the message Trump has to unite our country? To fear another person? What was your take on the RNC's message? I hear others poke fun of the DNC, but, I have yet to hear their thought about the messages the DNC and RNC were conveying to us. What message do you think they were trying to tell us?

My heart broke as I heard "we continue to love this country and it does not love us back". I don't live in the US but honestly, for years I thought it was an example for other country's. It is heartbreaking to see what's going on and how quickly can people forget about the humanity of others when they're governed by fear and/or hate. I'm so sorry. With all my heart I hope people can change it on November.
The US has done a great job for centuries promoting its propaganda, to it's own people and around the world. Unfortunately, too many of its citizens were happy to live with blinders on while the most vulnerable suffered. No more. I’m Australian and generally interested in politics, I watched the DNC with interest. After the first night of the RNC I couldn’t stomach any more so decided to clean my oven instead, a job I hate but more mentally stimulating than the RNC. Please USA demand more of your government not by violence but by voting on November 3.
Every day our federal government and each state government ask people to get tested if they have the slightest of symptoms or suspect contact and to expect results within 24 hours. In our state if your tested and can’t work before receiving a negative result you are paid to self isolate, US citizens deserve the same.

I think the big worry to have is that we don't actually elect our President. Our Electoral College, which is appointed by the parties in power in each state, actually does. Whether or not they reflect their state's public voting is determined by state law (if there is any governing their choice).
It is a reasonable fear that if Trump wins, teh only way to depose a new emperor is assassinations and violence. If he loses, his supporters have already made it clear they plan it and are already shooting people for being from the other side. With our military not supporting our President but our militarized law enforcement serving as his PMC, we are closer to civil war over here than most realize.
