I've travelled solo most of the time. When i went with my friend i had to do things i didn't want to do for example late night drinking and clubbing or going to the beach to sunbathe for hours. My friend wasn't really interested in culture. When we went to porto together he didn't visit any of the churches or visit any port wine cellars or eat at nice restaurants. He doesn't even like wine. The only positive thing about it for me was that the accommodation was cheaper because we shared the cost but i wouldn't do it again. Twice was enough.
Thank you so much for your past experience in travel. Yes, that's a common experience for many travelers, I'm afraid. Travel is subjective for sure. When you figure in the cost, time and energy spent for travel, it only makes sense to do it how it's best for you so you get the most out of it. So glad you started to travel solo!
@@CORRTravelwell most of my friends are married or have girlfriends they wouldn't be allowed to travel with me anyway so if i dont go solo i wont be able to go at all. I'm not totally alone i know some people i can hang out with sometimes. That's an advantage of going to the same destination. I do get lonely sometimes but that feeling goes eventually. I'm more open when i travel i will talk to other people. I don't just stay in porto. I will go on day trips outside and I've also been to Lisbon for four days on my own in 2017. I will also go to Italy sometime in the future.
I’m in my 50’s single recently retired son is away in college. I want to start to travel- interested in Europe etc . I’m in U.S , can you recommend some agents to get me started? Maybe groups with single people
I commend you on your choice to start getting out there and traveling. Good for you! I actually do solo travel coaching if you'd like to schedule a call with me: www.corrtravel.com/coaching-services/ I don't work with agents, but I can help point you in the right direction to find the best type of travel for you and even help create your Europe itinerary. I hope to hear from you. 😃
My relationship ended with my travel partner. I loved our trips. But don’t want my favorite thing to end because he cheated on me. So I want to plan my first solo trip. Maybe somewhere English speaking the first time
I'm very sorry to hear that. No, you should not give up traveling, even if you're alone. You may find you love it! If need help getting started, I do offer services to help with solo travel: www.corrtravel.com/coaching-services/
Great video and thanks! Quick question- would you recommend a day trip to Andorra and south France from Barcelona by bus tour? I have read mixed reviews, more on the positive side. I am a solo traveler. I wil be in Barcelona in early December for about 5 days. First time. Trip starts in Madrid and then Seville and then Barcelona.
I'm pleased you liked the video! First, if you have not already, please see all of my travel videos on Spain: ua-cam.com/play/PLvYEWY9IO4X06-K1jVJl7GR6H6ynl4qqh.html I cover Travel Guides, my itineraries, and things to do in Barcelona and Madrid (Seville will be covered next year). Just my two cents, if you have not booked already - I would recommend starting in Barcelona, then Madrid and ending in Seville that time of year. I would think weather would be better going in that direction. Again, just my two cents. As for day trips from Barcelona: please look at my videos on Barcelona. I recommend day trip ideas from Barcelona. They do not include Andorra or the South of France as they are quite far from Barcelona. It would take 3 hours by bus to get to the capital of Andorra (one way). Do you really want to spend 6 hours on a bus in one day on top of site seeing? Personally, I would not. As for Perpignan, France, you can catch a TGV high speed train from Barcelona and be there in 1 hour and 20 minutes. To me, that's more doable for a day trip from Barcelona, should you want to go to the south of France. I hope this helped!
@@CORRTravel thanks so much for your fast reply. i have already booked my ticket landing in madrid and leaving from Barcelona. I couldn't believe the round trip was 299 USD so had to book it quick. 😇Would you have recommendations for day trips from madrid, seville? thanks!
@@GSery No problem. Glad to help! Yes, wow, that is a GREAT price. I completely understand. I can't truly speak to Seville just yet, but please watch the "Know Before You Go Madrid" video and see the links in the video description for day trips. There are great suggestions in there. And have a fabulous time! Small request: Please leave you travel insights into any one of those video descriptions on what you did, or how you liked it, for other viewers to enjoy and receive value. Hello! I'm so pleased you'd like to start traveling solo. Good on you! At this time, I cannot personally recommend a particular traveling group. However, I am in the midst of developing some services that may assist you in the very near future. 😃 Please keep following on UA-cam and feel free to sign up for my email newsletter on my home page to stay tuned on when these new items will be released: www.corrtravel.com I hope that I can assist you this way in the near future!
Wish there were better ways to find like minded people to plan some trips with. I go solo when there is no choice, but prefer one or two people with me. Just hard to find. I enjoy my solo trips, but I have nobody to eat with and I like to be waited on. It's uncomfortable to sit at a table alone. Never met anyone on trips. I am introverted mostly and nobody ever said much at all. If on a tour same thing.. they talk briefly but nobody to make friends with for later
Thank you for sharing your insights and feelings on traveling alone. Yes, there are those challenges in meeting people while traveling. I find small group tours within my destination work well for me in meeting others and breaking up my solo time, should I wish to. In planning trips with others, however, there is a great way to find like-minded people for a travel situation. It's called voluntourism. And it's fantastic. Pick a cause you love, or something you want to learn how to do, and research the best volunteer groups and sites that offer what you're looking for and you will certainly find those that are like-minded. You may need to dedicate more time for this type of travel, but the results can be very rewarding travel. You never know where it may take you in life geographically, spiritually, or professionally. 😀 I've done it before (coral reef conservation dive work in Belize) and loved it. Can't wait to voluntour more. Try it.
