Surprised you didn't mention that pw not only held a candle to the AC series, but is an actual rival made by just a few people. One person being able to rival a whole studio is, well funnily enough, really the story of protagonists like monarch, trigger, or blaze
even funnier is how it was made when AC7 wasn't planned to come to PC, ....and then it came to PC. luckily the devs didn't stop and we finally got this glorious game alongside the amazing AC7
well ace combat 7 was made only by few people too, for just few years, their passion of craft revived almost dead franchise and i'm sure they can do that again with the next title! Project wingman creator will propably get at least few programmers to help with next title too, so i'm looking forward to the future of both ace combat and project wingman
I don't think its a rival considering the devs themselves of AC7 celebrated wingman success they support PW their more siblings both different both respecting eachother
"You can bring the MLAAs, MLAGs and bombs all at once!" Or you can do what I usually do and just load my plane up with three racks of MLAGs and wipe entire armies out in one shot... SO FUN on Sirens Call, just DELETING multiple ships.
Project Wingman had me reconnect with a good friend, and back into gaming in general. Heard what sounded like his voice while hearing lines from the Eminent Domain, only to message him and find out it WAS him! Blew me away.
An update to anyone watching this and considering playing on Xbox: As of January 2022, all of the major bugs/visual issues with the game have been fixed except for the pitch axis inversion and a few other settings not saving. You can circumvent that one by just remembering to change it each time you start up the game, but hopefully the next update will address it further.
Definitely one of the larger furballs I've seen in an arcade flight action game. It blew m away just how much was going on the first time I played the level!
Fun fact: for fighting the airship. In mission 5, you give the tips for fighting them, you should attack from up or below, never back or head on (i played on PC so if there's a change. I sorry)
I think that tip is more so on how to avoid taking damage while fighting them. From my experience playing on PC back when the game first came out, I could still attack from behind or up front (not directly, more so just in the general direction) along with above or below. On the Xbox it seems the hit boxes for the missiles are bugged or are otherwise too large no matter where I attack (If hit boxes aren't the right term, do correct me :P) No worries, you're good! Like I said earlier, I played the game on PC myself. On PC it seems like the airships are less buggy when it comes to the hit boxes for them
@@ThunderousFolf neat, a reply. Nah, that how you attack them without take damage, just be careful with your angle of approach and the airship movement
Perhaps ironically, your reviews inspire me to get up and make some sort of review or video. I think I'll start following where this channel goes, as I think you're on the right road to becoming greater.
21:09 the song he does during the briefing portions of the game is one of my ALL TIME favorite video game songs. He does a killer job with the synth appregiator stuff. Song is good enough where I listen to it every now and then. Such a good game.
I got it on PC and have played through the campaign 4 or 5 times now and then soundtrack still gives me goosebumps. When Kings start playing on the final mission i just get this feeling of accomplishment and awe even though i have already done it 5 times before. Not many games can do that and the soundtrack is a big part of it.
A fitting name for someone who made such an amazing game! Same here! Like I said towards the end of the video, I've been dusting off the engine as I want to give game development another serious shot. I know indie games aren't easy to make, but it's inspiring to see Project Wingman and how that game was developed. This game really conveys the message that with enough time and effort, anything can be done
I’m pretty sure with the air cruiser you have to launch your missiles from an angle above or below the airship to actually hit anything. Attacking from the front or back will probably cause the missiles to plow into the back or front instead of hitting your target.
I bought the game on Xbox One as soon as it came out, im going slow to finish it because of the final ost not play. However I read somewhere that the patch with some adjustments should be came out before Thanksgiving. In my experience so far the only that don't make me "enjoy" the game (the gameplay is extremely fun and adrenalinic) are dialogue, is not a game fault however, im not a native English speaker and even if im able to understand it, with the radio effect and everything is going on screen its difficult to follow (also no subtitles in my language as well). I want to share a fun fuct, during them mission you have to sunk Task Force 1 airship fleet. You are technically killing the backers of the game since Airships are named after them, and probably the captain of said airships as well.
Given how much the soundtrack for this game rocks, it's basically a requirement to wait until the music plays for the final level lol. Good to know that the adjustments should be out before thanksgiving though! Ah, gotcha. That sucks, sorry to hear about that. At least by the sound of it you're still enjoying the game though, which is nice to hear! I do see where you're coming from when you mention the radio effect. I'd be lost at points in the dialogue if I didn't have subtitles on lol Wait, really? I never noticed that! I was too busy caught up with the yacht being named R. Astley. That's a cool little easter egg
I just got this for Xbox in addition to PC and I prefer the Xbox version. I think it suits the Xbox controller compared to PC HOTAS, but the graphics aren't as good, seems some problems are fixed but there are flickering problems and no option to change FOV which makes cockpit view tricky. I do think this is more realistic than Ace Combat, weird but I have a better sense that I'm flying in a large 3D area. Downsides are level design isn't quite as good as AC. And, great video!
Sorry for how long this one took. Hope the wait was worth it! Hopefully soon! I'm currently eyeing potential gaming laptops since I've been wanting to upgrade what I got for the sake of better productivity all around. Along with better productivity, I'd also be able to play and record games better on that new system. I don't want to give any dates or say anything definitively yet, but like I said, I'm aiming for sooner rather than later.
Your actual missle target on a cruiser are its hard points, which are their own assets. If you fire from the opposite side of the targeted hardpoint, you'll hit the invulnerable superstrucutre and prematurely detonate without reaching the hardpoint. It's a common problem for guys! Thanks for the review, this game deserves all the coverage it can get.
This game was, for an indie title, an absolute masterpiece. The music, the story, the action... if someone had given me this game to play without showing me any of the map and just said" play this mission," I would have sworn it was an Ace Combat title... and I've been playing since AC4 lmao
I was in the PW discord in the last year or so before it released, it was an incredible group of individuals who would just bounce off eachother, there was so much energy. then the game released and it got pretty shit. i'm always the kind of person who is 'late' to these things so being early and seeing what that was like was such a treat. when you get the first low poly demos of your game out, and if you decide to throw out a discord or something... i might be there

I had originally bought it on steam. Did a two-seater run on hard my first go around on another channel. Then it came out on Xbox. Figure play again and get my gamer score up, lol. Also Peacekeeper II > Kings for soundtrack.
Honestly this game is great but playing it in vr with flight sticks and rudder pedals just makes the game a whole difference beast. Its easily one of the best experiences out there for the price!
i've encountered the Anura's weird hitbox on PC, missiles do work if you attack from the front quarter tho, probably different if you struggled that much however
About the ships with AA/SAM hardpoints, yeah, if you don't have the ASM, RDBM, or Railgun, you have to kill the hardpoints before damaging the main body. If you do, one ASM kills any ship that isn't the Battleship or the Carrier. Same with the RDBM. You need to aim the Railgun avoiding the hardpoints for the one shot kill. I'm not sure if the RDBM is available normally, though, I use the Balanced Wingman mod on PC. Has anyone tried using large unguided bombs on airships? Oh, and the indie that inspired me is Touhou. Going strong for 25 years, survived the death of Shmups, and became a big subculture in the process.
As an Ace Combat fan since launch, this game has been a blessing. Why is he as good as the new Ace Combat, but with that simplicity of the first games. It's unbelievable that this game is Indie as it's so polished, I've closed it several times without any problems with Bugs. I really liked this game.
What is impressive os 205 class being able to solo war hammer squadron, just went cleaning duty on ground units in conquest and then few minutes in mission was over
My one of favourite game's in childhood was HAWX 2 with it's phenomenal soundtrack by Tom Salta and till this day I beg ubisoft will one day resurect this series to make a fair competition
The stuff with Sirens of defeat is like a glitch. I looked at both the xbox version and pc version and it's not in the pc version. they need to fix it.
I unironically think this game is leagues ahead of AC7. I played this first over the course of a few days, and the same day I beat this I installed AC7. It honestly just felt disappointing after seeing all of the comparisons. PW's writing while not great, I think is miles better than the "doing 30 G's" in the English version that made me cringe so hard I almost instantly alt-f4'd lol. The clouds mechanic in AC7 also just isn't fun IMO. I get realism obviously is one of the last things they're worried about in these games, but I just can't get over how silly it really is. This one's pure personal preference, but I also think the "High G Turn" mechanic of AC7 just isn't as fun as PW's flares or AoA limiters. I didn't use AoA limiters in PW, and I liked having that option. AC7 forces you to use "high g turns" if you want to hit anything in a turn fight basically, Project Wingman 2 pls :(
I kind of love Prez but I really don't understand how the developer and the VA went to all the trouble of making a unique and chatty optional character that is only present when you fly a two-seater aircraft... and then they only put a handful of two-seater aircraft in the game, of which none go beyond early-mid tier. Even going as far as to specifically changing some aircraft that were two-seaters in real life to being a single seater in the game. (the F/S-15, based on the real life prototype F-15 STOL/MTD and/or F-15B ACTIVE. Why?) Some two-seaters are unique to Conquest mode and can't be used in the campaign, and the Su-30 is in the game files but isn't accessible to the player (without mods, anyway) because the cockpit model was unfortunately never finished. It's an amazing game, of course, but being so good in all other respects makes that particular "lack of two-seaters" issue much more noticable to me.
I really like Prez as well, and I like the idea of the WSO being able to talk as a whole, but I also wish it wasn't so limited in PW. Obviously not every aircraft in the game can be a two-seater, but I would've liked to see some higher tier two-seater aircraft so that players wouldn't need to settle for a mid-tier jet for the sake of hearing the extra dialogue. Whatever the reasoning for the lack of two-seaters, PW is still an amazing game without question, but I'm with you there on the confusion about the lack of two-seaters. At least the lack of higher tier two-seaters.
Playing the game trough Xbox gamepass win 10. Think thats the xbox version. It runs very well with my 5 year old PC. Played alot of sims during my timelife, and at first look this was like PFFFFFLLL! Livin in Finland, so gotta love Mig-21, though I first took F4. Actually Finland was first country where mig21 was sold outside the Soviet Union.. Good GAME. And while not realistic though with many aspects, I really love the way the planes and weapons has still the basic real myriad of fighter / striker weapons. (PS. Gotta love also Anti-Ship missiles

ASMs make short work of em. Otherwise, sit back and whack em with MLAAs
@@KillerOrca Yeah I recently got into Conquest mode and the mass quantities of MLAAs the F/D-14 has is pretty fun against them.
I just read the news, that Project Wingman is coming to Playstation 5 and their new VR2 headset.
And it kicks ass. I hope the PC and Xbox homies get to experience Frontline 59 soon.
IIRC the game tells you to attack airships from above and beloa, never from the front or back
this is like the Maxor AC7 video but Strange
I hope the devs don’t have to treat wingman like space engineers and will be able to publish the game on all consoles
finished campaign a week ago and its an amazing game
i mean kings is based 9:18
I switched to pc for 550usd spec system unit than a ps5, for this game. And ace combat 8 since they confirmed the developent for ac8.
what budget joystick and up would you recommend for the sim?
"Is Nguyen pronounced Win?
Nguyen is a Vietnamese last name and is pronounced Win (rhymes with bin). You could also have an English person named Wynn and it is pronounced the same way."
Ace combat has pay walls but 100% worth the price even the 3 DLC missions give us funny pirate captain aka CAPTAIN TORRES
11:14, 12:43, and 13:51 are all fixed
Thats weird... I can destroy heavy cruisers with missiles?
For an indie game this game is awsome. It seems the ps5 port is better than the xbox one is. So i hope they fix the xbox version. This game needs the attention it deserves.
Wait so this game was made by one dude like Dust?
Well if $€£ alone! All I played in my youth was "Indie" as my Logitech Wingmen Joysticks(no violence just worn ALOT) during the years!
Nowadays: ONLY HOLY HOTAS = f(_)ck off!
I really hoped they make it a franchise because it felt better than AC,looks better, the story is more intersting even if this game sequel cost 60 or 70 in the future i still chose project wing man over Ac
The VA team may be a fucking clown show, but its a solid game that everyone should play.
it adds to the immersion of being in a mish mash PMC group
what's wrong with the VAs? they're amazing
All of these reviews fail to cover the conquest mode, with plenty of blue skies, that adds endless replayability. Something AC7's 7 hours of play time lacks completely
if you poor peasant get this game because it cheaper oh wait ac7 is old game that frequently go on sale
We have Ace Combat at home...
and it's better!
channel name is a bit cringe but ok video
