Holy shit man you sold me on this franchise. It sounds and looks like a ton of fun. I never knew the series had its own universe and world building. I'm a sucker for that sort of stuff, and plus it gameplay seems way more fun than I might have assumed. (Thought it was more flight sim before) Great video overall, I really liked the way you transitioned from game to game btw lol.
I think I was in the same boat at one point with dimissing it because it's a flight game. I don't think this series is really talked about enough, and it absolutely should be! It should be held up as one of those classic video game franchises and yet it seems to only have this very niche yet dedicated fanbase. It doesn't help that the flight genre is full of consumers who want what I call 'grueling realism', and kind of turn their nose up at these more video gamey kind of flight games.

I actually like assault horizon a lot I don't categorize it with my other ace combat games since it's completely different game style. I was introduced to the series with Fires of Liberation years after its released, and I was blown away with its game play, story and OST. I fell in love with 6, and finished 7 shortly after that one came out. I gotta say, Ace Combat and MGS are two of my favorite series
Oh gosh, so much to talk about. First off, the Belkan war was among my favourite titles, the live action cutscenes were such a nice touch. Assault Horizon didn't have the heart of the franchise, and didn't play as well, but you have to admit it did look stunning...
Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies was one of the first games I ever played. We were low income so we didn't even get the ps2 until the ps3 was out. Naturally, lacking many games, I played it to 100% completion and replayed it for quite some time. Hearing that intro soundtrack sent a shiver down my spine and I love it. I found Ace Combat 7 to be amazing and a wonderful return to form for the gameplay
Oh man, once the Ace Combat 4 intro started…cue the nostalgia!! So many hours in that game I cannot even begin to guess how many times I played it all the way through! Hell of a job on the video!!
My man here playing F-16 Aggressor in 00:42. Almost had me flashbacking to 2005, took me a couple of years to find out how to fire a missile in that game (english ain't my first language, so it took me some time to learn stuff).
0:00 - 0:42 .. Invoke theme from Ace Combat 2. Damn that brought back memories. Still to this day my personal favorite entry with quite possibly the best overall soundtrack top to bottom.
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown would go on to be the most successful title in the franchise, with over 2.5 million copies sold in the first year, surpassing Ace Combat 4.
As an Ace Combat fan since i was a child, starting with the ps2 era games and falling in love with them, i never stopped being a hardcore fan since, and i approve this video, you summarized every game pretty well, and im glad it has gotten much attention as the ace combat series is very underrated.
My mind was blown. I thought this was a video about planes, but it was about appreciating life and understanding meanings deterred by societal complexes. I know understand, it's not how you are born, but what you do with life that makes life worth living. Thank you :)
Great video. It's a pity the world didn't get to enjoy the original version of 3. I was stationed in Japan and since I was still pretty new there new nothing of the language. Needless to say I had no idea what the hell I was doing or which choice was the best etc.. I think it holds the title of my most replayed game trying to play every branching decision. Plus that space mission was unforgettable. I also remember the Namco team coming to tour my ship in preparation for Ace Combat 4. The USS. Kittyhawk is Japans template for when they need to create an aircraft carrier. And as someone who led the ships fire department I wasn't exactly thrilled watching her sink in Ace Combat 5 and Macross Zero.
Hi, I'm from the future. Ace Combat 7 is an incredibly wonderful return to form that the series needed if it was ever going to live down nearly every game Project Aces released after AC Zero. Moebius 1 would be proud.
As someone who has only played Ace Combat 6 Fire Of Liberation, I can say I loved that game and loved the cut scenes and the characters and the plot. You didn't seem to like it as much, but isn't that odd considering a lot of the games on your list seemed like much larger flops?
This is my absolute favorite video game series of all time. I have owned and played every game in the series. I appreciate this video. Awesome content. Thanks for making this!!
AC6 should definitely get more praise, the Ally mechanic made it so that allies weren’t useless, the multiple objectives were fun and intriguing as you can choose different options on how the mission plays out, example missions with airbase recapture objectives when completed it allows for a much closer airbase to the combat zone rather than fly back to the return line. Lastly, the CFA-44, imo one of the best original aircraft in the series.
Holy shit. My eyes just leaked when I heard that ac4 intro song. Takes me back. That was my second ac game after air combat lots of memories. Thanks for making this video.
My love for the series started with Squad Leader, currently playing Unknown Skies. My second Ace Combat game, how unfortunate or how fortunate it is, is all up to whomever reads this
What ever ace combat game one First played seems to stick with that person, however not one game from the series represents the Series as a Whole ? If that makes sense, I started with AC4 and it’s my favorite but I also really like ac06 and 05 and acX 🤷♂️
@@mrandrossguy9871 The games were highly inaccessible here in Greenland so I started with Squad Leader/5th installment on PS2 and I got the 7th on PS4 and it really is pretty damn good. But I've seen some of the anime though I don't remember them well enough to have a basis for criticism. All in all, the soundtrack and the odd way of telling the story really stuck with me
bro this video made me cry i remember the scenes from the unsung war zero and the belkan war one bro nostailgia never hit so hard in my life when i returned to yugioh bro great job on refreashing my childhood.
AC5 was my first AC game, and AC7 my 2nd, and latest. AC7 completely blew me away. Reminds me so much of AC5 but with crazy cool graphics, and memorable characters.
I started back with Air Combat on PS1! What a blast from the past! Favorite game in the series is Ace Combat 5… such a good storyline and it had some of the coolest liveries.
I began this series with Ace Combat 6, for it was one of my first xbox 360 games. Little did I know about the series tho, I was a toddler. Good thing I know about the series and I know about emulators, so I can enjoy AC3 (which is so good!)
Distant Thunder will forever be my favouite in this series. The sheer graphical leap betwewn 3 and 4 had mine and my dad's jaws on the floor back in 2001.. many good times were had.
I grew up playing Skies of Deception on the PSP. Beating that game at 11 years old was a true accomplishment, let me tell ya! I grew up riding in small club-owned airplanes with my dad so I knew a fair amount amount what real flying and being a pilot were about, but something about Ace Combat felt so real to me. I still listen to the ACX soundtrack during my flight planning. There’s just something about sitting in old FBO, smelling faint jet A and 100LL fumes drift in from the ramp and listening to “Aircraft Select” that makes me feel like I actually sat in a ready room with Gryphus squadron once upon a time.
Ace Combat Infinity was so fun tho, many people many not have liked it, but the online CO-OP missions, fighting for more targets killed with an enemy squadron, the Boss Missions, Team Death Match missions, and the most admired Naval Fleet Assault.
First ace combat I played was skies of deception on the psp. Loved the idea of non linear mission progression. I'd never run out of new missions and cutscenes to experience. Hyped for skies unknown.
I remember being so confused as a 10 year old playing Electrosphere where the tag line was "choose your side" or similar, but I could not find any way to make decisions. I checked this video out as I've just finished AC7 (purchased on sale purely for nostalgia) - totally blew my mind! I'm going to have to check out the English translation of Electrosphere
3:05 That is a fantastic idea, it would be cool if they made that an option again. Would give real tension to Ace S runs - do I keep going with this 80% damage plane and possibly lose it, or do I push on to try to get the score? Do I play this really hard mission with a cheap aircraft and have a harder time, or do I risk it with the expensive, better equipped one? Would be really intense. Also would give some purpose to the 20 million credits after you beat the game a few times.
In 2003 I was in school and a buddy of mine let me borrow his copy of AC4, and I couldn't believe how great the game was at the time. And quickly after falling in love with AC4 is when AC5 came out the next year, and I snagged it right away and it's story to this day is still one of my favorites till Ace Combat Zero was released taking my top spot still today. I really wish they would make a ACZ remake on the AC7 engine, heck some of the iconic planes from it were DLC's for AC7. I can't imagine flying the ADFX and not using the Pixy skin when doing so. If they filmed the live actors scenes on actual film it (which I doubt happened) it would be easier for them to update them to HD, but I know it would be possible just more labor intensive even if it wasn't. Every day that ACZ remake isn't available is just another day they don't get my money for it yet.
Me too with Ace04 in 03 ! Though I still think Ace05 was the Best with Story And getting you Invested in it Through Gameplay !! Zero Did Bring Back the Customizations like Weapons and Colors schemes (but couldn't pick Wingman's Plane) AND Most importantly 2Player Split-Screen, but the only thing that Ruins it for me was the Flight Model/Graphics Engine Exactly the same as Ace5 which is A Downgrade from Ace4 and Ace3 ! So to this day I'm sticking with Ace04 for Overall Quality along with nostalgia
To be fair to Ace Combat 6 one of the reasons it probably didn't sell as well was because people who were only used to the Xbox would be like WTF is this? while people who only play Playstation couldn't play it. If I remember correctly this was the early days of the PS3 where it was pretty difficult to make games for the PS3 too.
maximaldinotrap I got the 360 specifically for Ace06 and Halo3 a bonus And I Love the PS2 Games ! I would have gotten a PS4 cause of the VR but that can wait
First played Ace2 back in '98 and was hooked. I'd have to say that still, Ace 4, 5 and Zero are my favorites with 5 being the game I played the most S ranking every mission and unlocking the ADF-01 Falken.
What did you Think of it !? Honestly It seems What ever Title you Are First Introduced to with this Franchise Sticks with you and can give you an Outlook on the Entirety of it And that can be Good And Bad !? Though I come to Understand the Franchise and its Series of Installments a little Better by just Watching Videos of the Different Games and Comparing ?
It's kinda ironic you mentioned Persona in the beginning because the Blue Skies song (from 4 and Infinity) always reminds me of that series for some reason.
No wonder i have heard of this game, but never played it. They never released a PC version of the game. Never had any of these consoles. Good to see this latest one is finally being released for the PC 😇
Unsung War was my introduction to the series, and the playstation 2. I was blown away by the graphics, especially the cutscenes coming from n64, and by the amazing storyline built around its cast of characters. They would make a mint off of a remake of the ps2 games if they put the time and effort into it.
I come from the future march 2020, it's been a year since the release of AC7. Project Aces has done a wonderful game!!! I repeat Ace Combat 7 is AMAZING!!

Do I play this really hard mission with a cheap aircraft and have a harder time, or do I risk it with the expensive, better equipped one? Would be really intense. Also would give some purpose to the 20 million credits after you beat the game a few times.
AC2 still lives in my heart. My fav on PS1.
I love ace combat 6. I loved this one and fell in love with Garuda team and the story line.
YA YEET!!
That's my Line
To be fair to Ace Combat 6 one of the reasons it probably didn't sell as well was because people who were only used to the Xbox would be like WTF is this? while people who only play Playstation couldn't play it. If I remember correctly this was the early days of the PS3 where it was pretty difficult to make games for the PS3 too.
maximaldinotrap
I got the 360 specifically for Ace06 and Halo3 a bonus And I Love the PS2 Games !
I would have gotten a PS4 cause of the VR but that can wait
First played Ace2 back in '98 and was hooked. I'd have to say that still, Ace 4, 5 and Zero are my favorites with 5 being the game I played the most S ranking every mission and unlocking the ADF-01 Falken.
i got goosebumps as soon as the ace combat 6 music started playing :,)
My intro to this series was actually Skies of Incursion on my ipod touch! I didnt know it was an actual series until recently
@@mrandrossguy9871 It was a pretty fun and solid experience from what I remember
You never had a PS2? You're missing out.
Ace combat 4 was my intro into the series. So much nostalgia 😭
Ace combat 7 is absolutely amazing
