Pablo, I've been enjoying your reaction videos, and I just recently came across your channel. I will say about led zeppelin, they are an extremely talented multifaceted band. The legendary because of all of their influences. They're very bluesy, jazzy, a little funk, and a lot of rock. The rain song is one of their ballads. That's why it's a slower song. It's essentially a love song but the title of the song is very fitting. It starts off slow like a beginning of a rainstorm. The calm before the storm. It's slowly builds, and eventually gets very heavy before ending in a very calm and peaceful ending. Much like a regular rainstorm, after the storm is over you feel that sense of peace and satisfaction. The air is nice and clean. This is one of those songs that you crank up, and it's just a great feeling. It is definitely one of those songs that will grow on you. But it truly experience LED zeppelin, you will have to dive into a lot more of their catalog because every song sounds different.
I’m a 64 yo grandma who still rocks my Zep shirts and blast them in the car just to drive my grandsons crazy! Some day they will think of me when they hear a Zep song, warms my heart. Thank you ✌️
I think every generation goes through mocking their elders and mocking "kids these days", but the truth of the matter is, when "the kids" reach elder stage they come to know that age is just a number if you choose to view it that way, and will admit to themselves that they were young, naive, and did their own stupid things sometimes too. That, is the real human side of the circle of life, when we come to realize we're all the same in the eyes of time.
I am a 71 year old retired senior citizen living on a fixed income and I enjoy watching a young man like yourself get the same joy out of music that I got 50 years ago! Carry on sir, carry on!
Senior old fart here. The reason we still look at our generations Rock stars as Rock stars is due to this. This music helped to shape our lives. Our beliefs, perspectives. AND just some damn good music to get mentally obliterated by. I've probably been to over 50 concerts in my life. Every one a great f$%&&*g party.
I am about to turn 71 when I got out of the service I was a concert hopper for a good decade. These were real heroes to us not imaginary action heroes like they have today.
This is a beautiful song and demonstrates how brilliant and versatile they are. I’m a 74 year old hippy from Florida who loves Bob Dylan and Led Zeppelin.
@@phoebeandtilly - its all good! we all go thru phases in life and Im not as spry either! Doesnt make me less awesome!... You are awesome too.. if you need reassurance of that. let me know.. fabulous is fabulous!! xo
This is one of the most beautiful rock songs/ballads written in rock and roll history. George Harrison, the Beatle, and John Bonham, Led Zeppelin's drummer, were talking. Harrison told Bonham - [You guys are really good, but the problem is you never write any ballads]. Bonham told Led Zeppelin guitarist, Jimmy Page, what Harrison said. Page said to Bonham [I'll give him a ballad !] Jimmy Page was a bit insulted and frustrated. So, he wrote this song completely on his own. As a matter of fact, Page just released his original version of this song, which he completely composed on his own. Page plays keyboards, strings etc over the top of his guitars. Page even used two chords from Harrison's beautiful ballad song he wrote and recorded with The Beatles entitled "Something" - those two chords became the opening chords for this song here - "The Rain Song." This is the only song in which John Bonham used brushes on. When the song gets to the heavy take off part - Bonham switched to drum sticks. Then when the song comes back down - he goes back to brushes again. His drumming is perfect on it. The orchestration it was played by John Paul Jones using a Mellotron, piano and of course, bass as well. Robert Plant wrote perfect lyrics for it and his vocals are absolutely beautiful. They played a masterful version of it live from their original release of their 1976 live album - "The Song Remains the Same" (recorded in late July of 1973). It is incredible ! 💯% There are live videos of this song available for viewing.
My favorite live version is Page and Plant unleaded…..Jimmy’s acoustic playing is sublime. Just perfect. He gets a nod of deep respect from Robert at the end.
PAGE played keyboards on the released version?? If so, that's insane(ly good!)! Whoa. Mind blown. Frankly, I didnt know he alone composed thie music here. Amazing!

What I wish I had done before my Dad passed is write down his stories. He had some. He grew up in Brawley, California and ended up running the first fast food chain, (Bob's), in Brasil. He owned a diner on Coronado Island and rubbed elbows with the rich, the powerful and royalty. His father had stories. I once asked him why he would settle in a place that's 112 degrees in the shade in summer, and he said, "This is where the mules died". We should all be required to write our parents stories as a requirement to graduate high school. That way history won't be lost and our fathers and mothers won't be lost forever. Part of their spirit is what they've experienced and accomplished.
Wow. Yes. The stories of our elders are so important to record. Loved listening to my grandmas stories when she lived with us. Found out a lot about my dad at the funeral of his sister. (30 years later). My cousins sharing stories I didn’t know. He didn’t share much. He died when I was 26 in 1991. I’ve learned more about him after he died than when he was alive. Sad.

Polo, loved how you opened up, and shared your feelings. I'm a 74 year old rocker who was involved in the music scene in So Cal during the 60's and 70's. I actually saw Led Zeppelin at the Whiskey A Go Go. They were 2nd bill to Alice Cooper. Polo, you would have fit right in during the 60's and 70's. Keep exploring. It only gets better!!
Growing up, I was always around senior citizens, the elderly, and I lived with my grandfather on his farm, and I still remember some of the wisdom and experiences they shared with me; had a huge impact.
Led Zep was kind of a blues band with a rock problem, but they could also just chill sometimes. Things were a little less rushed in the 70s, they had space to make a 7 minute song that was relaxing just because they felt like it.
I was born in 1960. I was fortunate enough to be growing as our music was, as lyrics were, as genres were. We were shaped by the power and wisdom of music. I'm grateful for your love and kindness. The live version of this really shines. This is Jimmy's masterpiece of beautiful emotion expressed in music. It doesn't hit me every time, but there's a particular chord change that when you are listening just right hits you square in the core of your heart.
Absolutely beautiful song. JPJ's keys, strings and acoustic guitar make the song majestic. Grew up on Zep through the 70's and still today some of the most moving music ever.
My Man! You are definitely my main guy when it comes to reactions videos. You really great conveying your true feeling into the initial reaction. So I DO APPRECIATE THAT! Don't apologize to think you might offend white people, I'm white 52 yr old that has seen , heard it and experienced great music, great success, great love and great loss. Just keep being you. I just turned 63 and it's crazy how much I love the music of my youth even though I often interpret it much differently through the lens of time. This song is sublime. The live version of The Song Remains the Same /Rain Song is required listening if you like Zeppelin.
I'm 69, I started listening to Zeppelin in 1973. Prior to that it was Soul and R&B. I've found they had so many moods and voices, and this is one of my faves.
This song is so beautiful! Led Zeppelin have been my healing journey-My fiance loved this song and sang “And I Love Her” and “The Rain Song” to me every day for 16 years. It was the last song he heard as I told him “that I love you so”. That was 2 years ago and this was the first time Ive been able to listen to this all the way through. I have watched/listened to the live P&P version in London 94-95 which is my ultimate favorite version but have not made it all the way through yet. Would love it if you did this live also-it just hits different. Anyway, thank you Polo, perfect timing.
Such a beautiful song. Led Zeppelin imo is the greatest band ever. This song releases so many feelings and emotions and memories. Ty sir for choosing this awesome song.
I saw Led Zeppelin at the Inglewood Forum in 72 it was a mind-blowing Psychedelic Experience! Sometimes nostalgia is believing things were better than the reality. Hearing this music again on POLO REACTS brings tears of joy and remembrance. I am a senior citizens that digs you Polo. Love that you're bringing back a little of that truly magical time for Music, Dance and Culture.
I think most great songs have to grow on you. There is no way to grasp the complexity of a well written musical piece of music on one listen. I’ve been listening to this type of music for over 55 years and still grown in my understanding of it.
Sorry I was late but man I love this song. It was the first song in Open-G I ever learned a little of, because I am still figuring out all the nuances decades later. Glad you enjoyed it Polo!
To me, this was their best orchestrated song. The majestic string sound, the acoustic work, the electric overdub, and the melody line just fall into place
My name is Linda & I turned 77 years old this year. Led Zeppelin is & has always been my favorite band right from the start! Zeppelin is the best band in music history & this song is beautiful! My favorite Led Zepp song is whichever one is playing at the time cuz they're all great! 💕
❤I am 68 and I am so glad that we have young folks like yourself that Love Seniors. Makes me proud. 😊 The "Rain Song, " is one of my 5 favorite songs from Led Zeppelin. I did put in a request for the song 6 months ago. But I guess you didn't get it. This song is a Masterpiece! This song is one of the most beautiful songs Led Zeppelin has composed. 😊
Great intro... As a child of the 60's I love that young dudes like you understand we were young once and have some stories to tell... Thanks bro! I grew up with Led Zeppelin music and have beautiful memories of sharing it with friends. Led Zeppelin will remain for me the most talented and charismatic rock band of all time... Artistic genius and then some. Much love.
You are the cutest ever, Son. I'm the senior now. My children are blown away by the stories I tell. Hitch hiking to see Van Halen in 1979 at the Boulder Field House, tripping on Window Pane, Ted Bundy had just escaped from Morrison. and I'm walking home alone stoned out of my mind. My poor mother. Waiting in line for Rolling Stones tickets at what was then called Mile High Stadium and smoking a joint. Guy says, Guaranteed to see Cable TV, LOL. We didn't have cable in Denver then. It was laced. Waiting in line in a snowstorm on Colfax Avenue at Budget Tapes and Records to get tickets to ZZ Top. They had a kegger. So much fun. It goes on and on. My kids are like, damn, I want those stories. No cell phones, just crazy good times.
The 70’s had such great blends of sounds the likes of which we’ll never hear again. There were no rules and you could create whatever you wanted regardless the source of inspiration. Magic and alchemy!
My favorite LZ song, been a fan for 45 years. Thanks for giving it a listen tonight. Enjoyed it over a hundred times and still gives me chills. There’s a live version of it with Page and Plant (unplugged style) that’s a must watch.
I am 72, the reason I like watching you and these videos, is because it is such a delight to see this great music is still being enjoyed by younger people of all descriptions!
Senior Grandma here....so much of our music was made for listening....yes, listening , not dancing, yelling or goofing around. Just closing our eyes and creating a vision in our heads ( some had a little help, yes but not necessarily needed). LZ was a British band and that put some people off..at first. They definitely had a "sound" but never sounded the same on the next piece of music. Loved it then and still loving it today
In 1968 I was 13 years old... and my favorite band was Led Zeppelin, and still is! Every generation since enjoys the greatest to ever do it... thumbs up for sharing! ...yep and Amen.
Polo…you need to hit up “In the Light “ by Zeppelin. You also should have done the live version of The Song Remains the Song and the transition to Rain Song ! Epic
Young man you have cemented why my spirit was gravitating towards your channel. I am 79 years old, lifelong Alaskan born here after my parents and grandparents were liberated from Norway by the then Soviet union from the Nazis. I always told everyone I ever knew that elders are like great story books with pagesof untold history now I’m an old well worn book who loves to enjoy telling her stories. Blessings to you young man now and going forward.
Heard this song and No Quarter in a bar late night in Tokyo Roppongi district in the late 90s and been a big fan 8f Led Zep since then, discovered all their great songs after this.
When I was young and just learning to play guitar, this is the song that introduced me to alternate tunings. Jimmy Page is the whole package. This whole album is great, check out No Quarter and Over the Hills and Far Away.
The bassist, John Paul Jones is playing the Mellotron... he's the multi-instrumentalist of the band, John Bonham is the drummer (RIP). They disbanded after he passed.
The Rain Song is my fav song ever. I also love my older folks😊 just gave my amazing mother an hour long leg massage for cramps...but she is honestly amazing shape mentally and physically. Keep moving instead of sitting all day if you wanna live long
Different tunes for different moods. That’s how I feel about it. Sometimes you need something mellow. And sometimes it’s cool to build anticipation. Thanx for the vid.
If you took the Beach Boys, the Beatles, the Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, U2, Creedence, and Nirvana... and you distilled them down... and added a dash of Bethoven and Mozart... you would have that perfect shot of musical liquor called Led Zeppelin.
@@marymargaretmoore9034 Also influenced by old blues music. Howlin Wolf, Huber Sumlin , Robert Johnson and on and on. The reason for the so called British invasion.
Wow, Polo, your intro about senior folks touched my soul! You're one of the fairly recent discoveries for «reactors», and you have quickly and «growingly» become one of my favourites! By the way, I am 72. I really like how beautifully humble you are and caring and just a GOOD SOUL! I'm very happy to have found you and I hope you're here for a long time!!! God bless you! And your family.
Growing up in the 70's, I was definitely what you would have called a "Led Head". I listened to all their albums repeatedly and anxiously awaited every new release. But the combo of the new music coming in the 80's and the massive overplay of just a handful of Zep songs on the radio had me put them aside. Aside for more than 35+ years. But recently I started going back through their catalog and began to "re-appreciate" how many truly talented mellow songs they wrote and performed so brilliantly. The name Led Zeppelin congers up "heavy metal" for almost everyone, but they were truly so diverse and talented, and wrote an incredible number of gentle and beautiful songs. If you like this one, find "Thats the Way" and ""Friends". "Thats the Way" is a heart tuggingly beautiful song that will make you sigh and smile. "Friends" is hauntingly mesmerizing, the likes I guarantee you've never before. I think you will enjoy them both, and thus starts the journey because there are so many more...
They take us through young love (Spring), growing love (Summer) and aging, deep and abiding love (Fall and Winter). The rise and fall but ever lasting!
I love Rain song! Robert sang it as his last song at his concert in Spokane in 2019, I want that song played at my funeral. I saw Robert again in 2022 and he sang When the Levee Breaks with a new amazing twist.!❤ I’m happy you played it … I love it until I leave this place!
Best thing about Zeppelin is that you don’t necessarily like it the first time and gets better every time. This song still hits the same as it did the first time I heard it in 1987. Timeless.
Nice commentary man. You put it so well and I fully agree. The bummer is that all the old people I found most interesting are now gone and the leftovers ain't cuttin' it!

The live version of this really shines. This is Jimmy's masterpiece of beautiful emotion expressed in music. It doesn't hit me every time, but there's a particular chord change that when you are listening just right hits you square in the core of your heart.
Agreed 100%
Absolutely beautiful song. JPJ's keys, strings and acoustic guitar make the song majestic. Grew up on Zep through the 70's and still today some of the most moving music ever.
My Man! You are definitely my main guy when it comes to reactions videos. You really great conveying your true feeling into the initial reaction. So I DO APPRECIATE THAT! Don't apologize to think you might offend white people, I'm white 52 yr old that has seen , heard it and experienced great music, great success, great love and great loss. Just keep being you. That's why we love you
I just turned 63 and it's crazy how much I love the music of my youth even though I often interpret it much differently through the lens of time. This song is sublime. The live version of The Song Remains the Same /Rain Song is required listening if you like Zeppelin.
A classic is something timeless… like Led Zeppelin.
I'm 69, I started listening to Zeppelin in 1973. Prior to that it was Soul and R&B. I've found they had so many moods and voices, and this is one of my faves.
They definitely have a blues vibe
Zeppelin senior here and for always!
This was the song my wife and I had our first dance to at our wedding. Beautiful song!!
What not to love about a 65 y.o. Sade? She is the complete package, wrapped in style and grace.
The brilliance of this composition can’t be appreciated at first listen. 50 years later and this still keeps getting better every time.
Best part about them, they are not afraid to do what they feel. The important part is their talent let them.
A balm for the soul. Such a beautiful piece of music. I share it every time it rains. ♥
Some of us old folks have some of the greatest music ever!!!
Polo…you need to hit up “In the Light “ by Zeppelin. You also should have done the live version of The Song Remains the Song and the transition to Rain Song ! Epic
Love it. Physical Graffiti is the go-to.
Yes, agree! 👍
@@p.j.graham9395 This one and LZIII
Yes!
Yes. That live version of this song is truly EPIC. As good as this studio version is, it pales in comparison.
One of the great lyrics in my lifetime "This is the mystery of the quotient--upon us all, upon us all, a little rain must fall"
Heard this song and No Quarter in a bar late night in Tokyo Roppongi district in the late 90s and been a big fan 8f Led Zep since then, discovered all their great songs after this.
One of my favorite songs, beautiful. Been listening to them since 83.
Growing up in LA, I spent many days of my youth sitting up on Mulholland Drive on a rainy day looking out over the valley and listening to this song.
I also spent a lot of time hiking and driving up around Mulholland. Great memories from a slower, simpler time.
When I was young and just learning to play guitar, this is the song that introduced me to alternate tunings. Jimmy Page is the whole package. This whole album is great, check out No Quarter and Over the Hills and Far Away.
You need to listen to this again and again and again and again
“This feels like something Kanye would steal”-that was hilarious! Well done, sir!
I don't think there are too many Zeppelin fans out there that don't also like Pink Floyd. They're amazing too!
Keep moving instead of sitting all day if you wanna live long
God bless you and your mother.
That's an interesting and unique amalgamation.
Except your Italian Grandmother would taste it and still say missing something. And it would be. 😊 likely a Les Paul.
You forgot the most important genre and the foundation of Led Zeppelin. Old blues music.
p.s. Fleetwood Mac pre Buckingham/Nicks btw.
This is my GO-TO song for chilling and romance - thank u LED ❤🎉 🎶
One of the most beautiful songs ever.
UNFRIGGINBELIEVEABLE!!! The song remains the same. This is one of my favs. Been listening to this Best Band EVER since I was 14.
Old person here. Led Zeppelin was playing in my college dorm daily. Now I love Greta Van Fleet. And Vivaldi Beethoven Mozart
I love Rain song! Robert sang it as his last song at his concert in Spokane in 2019, I want that song played at my funeral. I saw Robert again in 2022 and he sang When the Levee Breaks with a new amazing twist.!❤ I’m happy you played it … I love it until I leave this place!
I haven't heard This in So long... Touched My heart right away.
I miss my youth😢
This is one of my favorite Zeppelin songs of all time!!!I am their biggest fan no joke!!God CNN bless
To experience this song right, I really think you have to watch Rob sing it in TSRTS video. It's so magic.
It's the Rain Song. Another Zeppelin gem. Enough said!
Didn't recognize the song title but recognized Jimmy Page's guitar chords instantly
Many of their songs I don’t recognize the title - and I love them all
Im 66 and first listened to LZ at 11 years old, they have always been my favorite rock band.
Best thing about Zeppelin is that you don’t necessarily like it the first time and gets better every time. This song still hits the same as it did the first time I heard it in 1987. Timeless.
Gotta love JPJ on the keys!! I think the more you hear from Zeppelin...the more you will love them!
Nice commentary man. You put it so well and I fully agree. The bummer is that all the old people I found most interesting are now gone and the leftovers ain't cuttin' it!
😂😂😂
Hey Polo, i'm joe from Houston TX, bro I could sit down and bend your ear for a while! I'm 67 and grew up in the 50s,60,70s and 80s.
Live is incredible!!
67 years old and still love Zep ACDC,and love to laugh at all the absurdity of life. History is my passion.
