At a time when it seemed like every type of rock song had been exhausted, Grohl and his Foo Fighters cranked out dozens of memorable, accessible, and melodic power pop gems that are recognizable in one or two notes. Try doing that sometime.

Most people think Rockers are all just linear, but I tell ya what, man. It's us Metal and Punk musicians who have the widest appreciation for music. I'm 54 and have played drums for everyone from Tantric to Punk bands at dive bars and grew up listening to AM bands like the Ides of March, BeeGees, Burton Cummings _(his song Stand Tall is pretty killer, btw)_ etc and I still have a great appreciation and if I'm honest I still listen to some of that old 70's stuff today. It has loads of feel that we just don't hear today.
Please lock me away and don’t allow the day here inside where I hide with my loneliness - I don’t care what they say, I won’t live in a world without LOVE. This still rings so deeply with me. You are right in that way over Never Let Her Slip Away.
Grohl and the Foo Fighters recently were featured in the UK Classic Rock magazine, and he talked about a very eclectic band called Cardiacs. Worth reading the article and checking out Cardiacs.
I'm willing to listen to this Andrew Gold song I've never heard. But if you want sheer audio ecstasy, I recommend Mozart's Symphony #29 in A major to enter paradise with.
Nah he's definitely not playing about that. See you got to think about what he was influenced by and what drummers. I really don't like to assume things about strangers or anything like that so I apologize if I offend you but I was just going to say I'm guessing you might be from early 2090 maybe late eighties so he would be a little bit older and being that he was the drummer from Nirvana we think he would have been a fan of more heavy rock band Jammers butt in reality he got his style or sound from people like Charlie Wilson from The Gap Band. If you actually listen to the song Early in the morning by the Gap band and the teen Spirit song by Nirvana it's basically the same drums that the Gap band played on that song
Yeah, FM was sonically superior; Enough so, that Steely Dan wrote a great song about it in the early seventies. Y Ou wouldn't choose to hear the song on AM if you had a choice.
Dave and many stars are involved in a bootleg recording conspiracy that has proliferated within the entire music business. He is representing the underground ghost song creator.
Dave Grohl is a pop songwriter. That is all. Super famous and therefore thinks he has earned the right to make sweeping comments that have some kind of finality to them. He is the Taylor Swift of soft middle of the road "rock". I am happy for his success. Everyone needs to provide for their family. Don't really care to listen to FF though.
I propose the world nukes Taylor Swift to salvage the sanity of humanity. And even she's not as bad as the media sycophants who brown their noses on her oft-kissed derriere. May they choke on their praises.
Dave the man and his music should not be conflated. He seems to be a great guy, and I've watched every Taylor video I can get my hands on many times, love the dude, but I do not like Foo Fighters music. Nobody I know likes them, and there are legions more on the internet. The lyrics are completely inconsequential, the music unadventurous and bland. It's safe, corporate mainstream rock, and sorry, he's not one of the finest songwriters of our time.
This reminds me that you guys are giving false information like that about Leonardo DiCaprio saying that Critters 3 is possibly one of the worst movies, that is false, Leonardo DiCaprio never said that and you know it well, I am going to ask you, please, to stop publishing false information.
You’re half right. Grohl shouts waaaaaay too much over all his music, but that Andrew Gold song absolutely blows. I don’t give a shit how complex a circus keyboard sound is. You either have melody or you don’t and that song is absolutely devoid of any redeeming qualities
Have hung with Dave a number of times. He really is a great dude, but he fuct up so bad with his bullshit Covid mandates that lead to Taylor’s death. Ya, I said it.
I LOVE Dave Grohl's drumming but hate everything else he does. Who wants to hear John Bonham play the flute?? Same with Dave. He has not written even ONE great song and his singing and guitar playing are DEFIANTLY MEDIOCRE and an immediate turn off for me. He has wasted decades of his life performing CRAP that no one will listen to in the future. He should have become the drummer of another great band with another talented leader/song writer as he had done in Nirvana earlier. His drumming on the QOTSA album was excellent as was his drumming with Them Vultures. Otherwise he has just been wasting his time and talent IMHO! The music h e liked, 'that AM crap' was indeed boring crap.I hated it so much i became one of the first punks. It was a waste land of mediocre 'product'. He has CRAP taste which explains his CRAP song writing. He missed what WAS good and creative from that era. Eno, Television, Parliament Funkadelic etc.
2:18 - Andrew Gold, Never Let Her Slip Away
Thank you, hero. The many many you've rescued from this clickbait trap salute you

Suite: Judy Blue Eyes
It always amazes me, how so many snob artists hate the music that hundreds of millions of other people absolutely get joy from.

Agree
Love Dave Grohl ❤

I hope he gets round to recording Never Let Her Slip Away one day It is a classic song and one of my favourites.
I saw Andrew Gold a couple times as a great opener and own some of his old stuff. A great writer and performer.
Grohl and the Foo Fighters recently were featured in the UK Classic Rock magazine, and he talked about a very eclectic band called Cardiacs. Worth reading the article and checking out Cardiacs.

Im willing to listen to this Mozart's #29 symphony.
@@anthonybelcina4127 I was just listening again yesterday. One of my faves of all time.
His 32# Symphony is better
great call! Pachabel Canon another nice one
'Always for You' is another Andrew Gold love song that's beautiful.
I definitely Loath Grohl!!!
Dave Grohl is rock's uncrowned king!
So I take his word for it.
Why do I have the feeling that Dave is playing with us on this one...?

AM radio was 1960's and earlier. By mid 75 we were mostly listening on FM.
I remember. Very true.
Yeah, FM was sonically superior; Enough so, that Steely Dan wrote a great song about it in the early seventies. Y
Ou wouldn't choose to hear the song on AM if you had a choice.
Because FM was STEREO!! Also, Steel Dan’s song was released in 1978, not the early 70s.
@@crusheverything4449 , You're right. I thought FM was on an earlier album.
Thanks for the correction.
@@davidgraham2673 FM was a movie too, I remember seeing it when it was new and I was in the military. No static at all.
Far out magazine is click - bait. thumb way way down and DO NOT RECOMMEND
Dave and many stars are involved in a bootleg recording conspiracy that has proliferated within the entire music business. He is representing the underground ghost song creator.
He admitted his memory failed him. He actually was referring to - Lonely Boy
That makes a lot more sense. "Never Let Her Slip Away" seems mediocre at best to me.
Yeah, thanks...I thought that was a little too weird...

Then why didn’t you just pass this video!!!! Dave Grohl is a badass rockstar! Also one one the kindest humans you could ever meet.
Do you always take things so literally?

As with all Far Out articles, just scroll to the end to find the answer. Never any need to read the rest of it.
Kurt called Dave a genius.
do you not agree with Kurt on this?
oh really---where yu dream that up
I wouldnt say hes one of the finest songrwriters "of our times"
i got a firefox ad about one of your articles and you guys called Quentin Tarantino an "actor" i think yall frauds and a waste of time.
Even if it only MIGHT have been the most beautiful song, wouldn't you think it would at least be played on this video? Silly me.
Was thinking the same, maybe with Grohl narrating
😅I definitely agree with the Andrew Gold song, but I'm not particularly keen on his type of music.
Never Let Her Slip Away may be a lot of things but, no disrepect to Mr Gold, "beautiful" it aint.
Well I think we've been punked.
never have never will understand why this guy gets so much praise..yawn

Really? Surely taking the p here, Dave
eclectic? every song sounds the same with dave grohl shouting all over it-he's right about the andrew gold song, though
