You got very valid points for sure, I’m in ATL and my friend does MRI and he makes 50-70 an hour working PRN at diff places. It’s definitely a good field but it takes a lot of commitment to get to that point and stay in good health.

@@reptilesgamers00 It’s a combination of all of those factors. Mentally is due to burnout and workflow; Physically in regard to assisting of patients (mostly hospital environments) which otherwise can’t move themselves. Apart from that just being in control of the MRI room as a whole also takes a toll on some because of the possibility of injury due to the strong magnetic field. I’m 20, in a radiology program atm, as soon as I finish i’m going into MRI so I think it’s worth it if that’s what you’re asking.

All depends where u work tho broski. Over at kaiser the supervisors and ADA’s don’t even necessarily make more than the full time techs. Well maybe the DA but none of the other managers. So becoming a manager isn’t even necessarily a “move up” especially not in pay. Plus they have to leave the union and don’t get the raises, benefits that come with it. But I do feel what ur saying for sure.

Yeah I feel you I personally want to try teaching I think it’s somewhat my passion because I love to help people. I been in the medical field for sometime now so I need a change too so I know what you mean.
This thing about teaching is the amazing hours and you still have time for your family or just time for you as a Rad Tech all that goes away if you work at a hospital you usually work 12 hour shifts sometimes short staffed which then becomes a lot.

I’ve been keeping up with your UA-cam channel mainly because I’ve been interested in becoming a radiologic Technologist. I needed some advice honestly. I signed up for a 20 month program @ stellar college. It’s a private vocational college in Chicago Illinois. The college will offer this program in on ground format, as well as a hybrid format in which students can take up to 45% of the courses using online delivery method. I just wanted to know if I could trust this school and if it was accredited . If you have any advice I would love to hear it brother.

Hi! I have many different career options in mind and every time I do research to help me decide I seem to get more and more confused. I like the radiology and nuclear medicine side of healthcare but I have also thought about ultrasound and even dental hygiene. I don’t understand how most of the schooling works and what I will need to do to achieve my goals. I already have an associate’s in general sciences (A.S.) and want to avoid completing as much school as possible. I feel so lost! I wish there was more of a guide on how to do all of this haha. Any of your help would be much appreciated!

I have a question it’s probably way off topic but I wanted to ask it in a recent video. I’m planning on doing rad tech this summer and was wondering what should I go over for anatomy? It’s been some time since I’ve taken it I know major parts of the body but should I focus on tiny specific names of bones and such? Also what systems? I have a good chance getting into a program that’s super far (I got in last year but personal reasons got in the way they even asked me to apply to their nursing program that’s how few people apply!). My thing is that I was pre-nursing out of high school, couldn’t get into any program even with experience and volunteer hours, so I got my bachelors in nutritional science and hated it. It’s been really long since I had anat and physio since 2015/2016. I would have until May to refreshen and would love to study on my own.

Ok so to be honest I don’t think that will be a big factor.
Usually if you work outpatient center your patients will be what we call “Walkie Talkie” so they usually move on their own.
If you work at the hospital you usually have help so you’re not alone.

Is it easier to work with the equipment/positioning, etc. and take images in X-ray, CT, or MRI ? Which modality is procedurally easier to get an image ?
That all varies all modalities have their easy and hard views
What about Neuroradiology?

So to me I see myself staying for retirement while also experiencing different careers that always interested me.
The cool thing about radiology is that you only have to work 3 days per week which means you have 4 days to follow your true passion 🙂

Ok so for Canada it says average salary is $73K year which is around $37hr.
They don’t have ARRT like the 🇺🇸
You have to pass there ACMDTT EXAM (Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologist)

IF a patient comes to the Radiology dept. and already has an IV, but you have to use contrast to get an image, do you set up a 2nd IV, inject the contrast into the first IV, have a nurse handle an IV for contrast, or how does the contrast procedure actually work ?
You use the IV that the patient already has & no nurses don’t handle contrast that’s the techs responsibility.
Are you going to go back to school to be a teacher or just plan on substituting? I was thinking the same i saw that at wgu you can get a bachelors degree faster than other universities

Wait a minute you said that if a rad tech has to take time off for an injury or surgery they aren’t allowed to come back. So do rad techs not get PTO or vacation time? They have to work 365? PTO isn’t a part of the benefits if you are full time?

Ok so you might have misunderstood or I might have said it incorrectly so let me clarify it.
So basically I was saying to have a backup plan just in case you do get hurt. Yes most hospitals have PTO, SICK TIME, VACATION TIME ect… but those take years to accumulate so what happens if you start a new job and in the second week you get hurt & can’t work 🤔
You haven’t been there long enough to have any benefits.
Most places give you 2 weeks PTO per year.
Also, no most hospitals don’t allow you to have light duty either especially in xray our jobs are very hands on and strenuous.

Ok yeah I think I misunderstood, I thought you meant if you get hurt they I’ll just fire you and you don’t get any pto. But you were just saying that it takes time to build up time off and if you get hurt and don’t have enough benefits you just can’t work until you’re fully back to normal. Thats makes more sense now. Honestly it’s not common. They teach you in school to use proper body mechanics & team work.
99 % of the time you will be just fine.

Ok so 99% of the hospitals don’t care about tattoos so mostly likely if you have tattoos you will be ok.
At my current hospital 🏥 I see people with whole sleeve and neck tattoos im not saying that’s smart but I would stay away from tattoos ok your hand and stay neck down where you can cover them if need be.

Ok so you don’t have to be smart to get into Radiology you just have to understand that it’s not easy but if you put effort you can do it.
You don’t have to be tall but yes we do have to move patients around so it is physically demanding.

Can you please do a video of taking X-rays during a surgery. I have watched a couple of videos of radiology technologists who specialize in surgery X-rays, and they were talking about all of the different nuances to being a surgery X-ray tech, having to take X-rays with a C arm while the surgeon is performing a surgery. They said that this kind of X - ray specialty is particularly stressful. What is it like taking X-rays during surgery, and how can you avoid having to do this, if you're not comfortable with the surgery environment ?
So it’s against HIPPA to make a video during surgery. The OR is very stressful but it’s doable. If you work at a hospital the only way you don’t do OR is if you work over night.
But don’t be scared go into the OR you got this ‼️

Ok so it’s never to late for a new career/challenge but this career is more physically demanding than it looks working at a hospital but if you work at an outpatient center were your patients are semi healthy & can walk most of the time than it’s definitely easier.
If your seriously thinking of a medical career look into laboratory technologist no hard labor you just run the blood in the machines.
Usually a 2 year degree as well.

Ok so unfortunately you don’t qualify being a BMO you must be a full licensed Radiologist Technologist in order to get certified in CT or MRI or anything at that.
