    Yup pay is Great in the DMV area and very high demand to the point if you go on a shadow day in that department they will ask you “Are you looking for a job!?” Even though you haven’t even started the program! Can’t wait to graduate January 2025. Until then, the department will allow me to get hired as a Clinical Aid in that department and have that looonnggg 2 year interview lol

    I'd say that it's definitely worth it to go into the medical field. It's almost like a blessing. As someone who has worked at a public school, bank, private companies and hospitals, I can tell you that the public sector is a heaven! I've met enough people in education and healthcare constantly complaining about their lives and feeling unfulfilled, it's because they have never experienced anything worse in the private sector. The greatest thing about working in the healthcare sector is job security! Nothing is more important than that once you have your own family!

      Start with Radiology Technologist a 2 year program.
      That’s your foundation & then if you want go into CT or MRI.
      There’s options after that but also remember that with new modalities come registries.
      So for instance when you for for Radiology Technologist you have to pass ARRT registry & then if you decide to go for CT that’s another registry & MRI is another one so anytime you decide to move up in Radiology it comes with a registry exam.

    A few tips towards a registry:
    Make sure you have a registered tech in the building.
    Make sure you have the opportunity to work with that tech, on their schedule, for a minimum of 6 months to a year. Don’t get stuck working alone. These are the mistakes I made, and I’ve wasted a decade in the field in this situation. I had people in my class get their registries and I farted around and did not take it serious. Take it serious. Any student getting into this field, find a place that will let you cross-train, even if you have to come in on your days off, DO IT! You won’t regret it.

    Juan, great content dude, and i really appreciate you talking out of experience, which leads me to ask you... I'm 24, earnt an associate degree in liberal arts (not knowing what i wanted to do), then went to film school (my childhood passion) and got certified. Then decided to go back to school now, because i have so many credits that they transferred, i literally only need to pass a few classes, then jump straight into the clinicals. it's not going to take me a while to become a "Radiologist". My current plan is to get my degree in radiology, work part time as a tech and (meanwhile) study some more to become an MRI tech. I feel like having both on me (rad and mri) would shift my life. Hoping i would find a place where i can use both, and make a good living out of. What's your thought on that?

      Yeah I think what happens really is that once a tech or any person in a career that have reached the end to liking it tend to stay because of the comfortableness of there work schedule & yes salary.
      People aren’t willing to be uncomfortable for a short term to get into something different.
      For example, there’s X-ray jobs that you can work Sat & Sunday only two 16 hour shifts & have Mon - Friday off which then gives them the opportunity to go back to school or start a business ect… but most people are not built like that so they stay & become miserable bro.

And they are not really that heavy. In a hospital no matter what position you will be moving patients. But with best practices you are not really 'lifting', more like dragging.

      Gerald thank you for taking time out of your day to watch and comment.

      Ok so this is my take on that
      When you go straight into MRI (which is good to know because I didn’t know that) you miss the opportunity to see what Radiology is really about which in the long run can come back and haunt you.
      How you ask 🤔 ok so if you went the RT route it’s 2 years and then MRI is like 3-6 months after to obtain now if you go into MRI first and then say you know what I want ti try general RT because it’s less stress well guess what you would have to do 2 years of RT school.
      So in my opinion I would do RT first & then MRI or CT so that way you will always have something to call back on.
      Great point I will make a video about this soon 🙏🏽

    I'm also curious about an MRI question since I've had one. For the image, is it the coil that determines what shows up on the MRI. And then the tech chooses what is shown based on imaging planes?

    • @juanmotiva8s959
      @juanmotiva8s959  Рік тому

      I’m not an MRI TECH but MRI is based off of Magnetic 🧲 Capabilities which then helps make an image by magnifying the Atomic Nuclei.

    • @anniesshenanigans3815
      @anniesshenanigans3815 Рік тому

      The coils are placed around the body part that is to be imaged. Then the MRI has several components that generates 'waves' much like radio waves that go into the body. These waves interact with the protons in your body that generate energy (eventually) that 'waves' back out to the coil and goes to the K processor and generates a picture of a small part of that anatomy. This is repeated thousands of times in the 20 to 30 minutes of your exam to create about 150 to 200 pictures.

    • @HeyIntegrity
      @HeyIntegrity Рік тому

      @@anniesshenanigans3815 so each picture is called a slice? When I open an MRI and scrolling through it and it looks like it is revealing different parts of the body part.
      I tried looking through my shoulder MRI since I was curious. It looks like it doesn't get all of it to the end of the scapula but Idk how to really read an MRI at all. Everything I'm reading seems to focus on shoulder joint so I was curious if whatever fits in the coil is what determines what is seen or the tech chooses what to cover based on imaging planes.

      The traditional way is to go to Rad Tech school which is two years, then on to MRI. Either on the job training or school. Most are around 6 months or less. There are schools for MRI without the Rad Tech creds, but the ARRT is very strict on it and you would have to contact them for the details.

      So first you would go “RADIOLOGY TECHNOLOGIST, A.A.S” then after you passed your ARRT REGISTRY then you either cross-train at work into MRI or go back to school for MRI which takes another 3-6 months.
