    nice video, i completely agree with you.
    i am a radiographer too but now i work as CT and MRI Technologist as i got to work on CT MRI in starting of my career and got really good hands on it so i belive if we work as a CT/Mri Technologist we need not to rove around that much, hassle free work but criritcal cases but once you get use to it and have the confidence its nice but if i talk about x-ray i really agree with your words, nurses really don't like us sometimes.

      Bro I have a question ❓
      In Radiology you Study all
      CT scan, MRI an X-ray??? Or one can only choose to study CT scan and MRI???
      Or it is compulsory to select one among CT scan, MRI, Ultrasound and x- ray ???
      Or you will be able to study all in your bachelor program???
      Please Answer because this year I am gonna take admission in Radiology 🙄

    Haha... Just how I screamed yes at point 2, we've had nurses saying we are lazy and we don't even do much in the x-ray department! One nurse once told my colleague how difficult she's making her job because she had to be assisted when she had to do a portable x-ray in the ward, nobody wanted to help her, and when she finally when to a specific nurse to ask for help, she was told she's making their job difficult!!! 💔💔

Well I'm currently going though a rough patch of doing a degree that I do not like at all because of family pressure. But from this video I got the more depth insight of what Radiography is about. With my photography abilities, I really do find it interesting hence it has part of the things I like, not to say it is more about photography. Nevertheless, thank you sm Theo.

Nurses keep on calling us lazy guys, you only know how to press the button, and shouting at patient to take a deep breath and hold up the breath. there is always that prejudice on us being what they want to accuse us for.

    • @theodamari
      @theodamari  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, in patients cases, if pregnancy is suspected or confirmed and X-ray is needed, the patient’s unborn baby will be given maximum protection from radiation. Radiation workers also work under strict monitoring conditions when pregnant

    • @samuelsimukoko3397
      @samuelsimukoko3397 Рік тому +1

      The issue is that a developing fetus is highly radiosensitive. Why? Because it's undergoing high mitotic activity 😊. The cells are still multiplying quickly and any exposure at this stage is suicidal.
      Have you ever seen a child born without a certain body part? 😂😂😂 Like Tadpole that lost its tail😂? Well if you don't want that to happen to the fetus, don't get it exposed. Every door to every x rays room has the words of warning to who? To Pregnant women.
      That's why we are in school for 3-4 years learning about RP and radiation interaction with matter. Very important.

    I wanna ask, is a tall height/bigger build necessary for this profession? I have a super petite build (145cm/4'9" tall). Do you think my small height would make being a radiographer difficult, considering all the heavy lifting, handling large machines, and larger patients?

    • @theodamari

You should always try to find joy at your place of work .Get so close with a colleague , swallow the tones of insult trust me ,it's evenly shared even to your superiors. Try to treat yourself to something fun ,maybe every week or so. Hello, or to thank you for the wonderful video, and I think that Western and European countries in this field are very primitive, I am from the Middle East and the situation is different here as we attend the College of Health Sciences for five years, four academic years and a clinical year, after which we can attend a master's degree in radiology Diagnostic and writing medical reports or a master's degree in nuclear physics and other interesting programs, and my name is a specialist in radiology, and after the master's degree, you must claim your rights.

      There is a very big difference between radiography (medical imaging) and radiology. We produce the information and you produce the opinion on what it means. It is like the difference between a nurse and a doctor. I used to say the difference was also that radiologists earn 20 times more money

      @@siphesihlekunene_heavenly You can specialise in ultrasound if you are interested in this area. Because as a radiographer, you can specialise in modalities only, like MRI CT or ultrasound, and you are expected to image every part of the body of every patient using that machine. You can't specifically specialise in obstetric radiography, where only the female reproductive system is imaged. As for gynaecology, it is a speciality for doctors. You can't just do gynaecology stuff as a radiographer.

    Nothing infuriates me than those saying Radiographers are button pushers. There's a lot going on we push and lift patients, we do almost impossible views requested by doctors on patients who are not mobile and you have to make a plan to get all those images. You were probably taught centring point radiography. Find the other way of doing the job which requires accurate collimation. It makes radiography an art form in presentation and dose minimisation.
