I allways thought suzuhas pin was Future Darus handed down so they scratches of letters is for each lab member that died in the resistance. Future daru knows himself, okabe and mayuri are alive as they are with him in 2036 and he knows kurisu is alive as she is captured by Sern. If any one know contradicting info let me know!
You just elevated my understanding of this show to a whole nother level. Steins;Gate is so fucking crazy, sad that my friend won't watch it with me aaargh
You know what you must do, buy a straightjacket, rent out a movie theater, buy tons of eyedrops, build a headgear that keeps the eyelids open and then clockwork orange his/hers ass to watch it, for it is the choice of Steins Gate!
Just found your channel, and as a true Steins;Gate fan, I binged every one of your Steins;Gate videos. I want to thank you for the amazing content and for introducing me to the play. I look forward to the rest of this series.
I bewildered that this doesn't have 100k+ views. I started this series at the beginning right after finishing Steins;Gate and it has helped me not only understand things better and appreciate it more but love it more. Thank you for the time you put into this.
the thing with the pin is fascinating, i always thought it was something more pragmatic. the missing letters are there because those people were left out from the future gadget lab matters until the end. but whoever made the pin knows they should be there, it's a remainder of failure. the A can be Yuuki's initial as well :) of course, the looping loop loops around, but it's a possibility!
@@l.a.wright6912 sort of. the only person who could have made it is okabe. but the only reason he made it is because suzuha brought it back from the future. but the only reason suzuha stopped back in 2010 is because she has the pin. if okabe made the first pin, suzuha wouldn't be a lab member on it. so, where did it originally come from? the most likely explanation is that it never had an origin in the first place
Great analysis and video, has always! thanks! The thing about there being events that "MUST" happen, making us think that Free Will is just an illusion, reminds me of an explanation I liked that they gave in the Marvel "What If" series... Where they talk about "The Inflection Point" an event/event in time which is essential to happen because of what it can create... (Excuse me for getting philosophical... But the subject of time travel - and of course Steins;Gate - I like it a lot...and I haven't talked about it with anyone for a long time hehe ) Maybe that's the balance we have between Fate and Free Will... There is already a series of predetermined events, several "routes" like in videogames, but our decisions, our actions, which we choose "freely" is what makes us reach one ending or another.
there's a thought experiment called laplace's demon about a being that knows the state of every particle in the universe, and thus can perfectly predict causality and everything that will happen. this might not hold AS much water now that we know how the laws of physics break down at the quantum level (eg as in observation itself changes the state of matter) but it's an interesting thought experiment. do we really have free will, or is nature just following the laws of physics and we just think we do? this is the kind of shit that keeps me up at night
What i've come to understand about the functions of the universe in Steins Gate is that it works both deterministically and indeterministically, some events are forced to happen due the attractor field convergence, but you can influence some events and even alter the past without sending D-Mails but only in some rare case scenarios, like with Kurisu in the true ending, it's only possible for Okabe to deceive the universe and himself because he got sent into the alpha worldline and didn't actually observe if Kurisu was actually dead or just lying in a pool of blood, and because the fate of so many people rely on that time travel paper, without these Okabe couldn't possibly save Kurisu, because one persons death or life wouldn't alter the divergence that much, that is why Okabe wouldn't be able deceive himself and the universe to save Mayuri in the Alpha worldline, because there isn't an event big enough to drastically change the divergence there like there is in the beta world line, the SERN dystopia happens slowly and further in the future and Mayuri dies always in 2010.
Just wanna say thanks for getting me into Steins;gate. I've been watching it on an off for the last week or so and have really been enjoying my time. Hope to finish the series strong and hope the ending is as good as the beginning.
I think you are wrong on this, there is not this thing of "this never happened" Okabe and Kurisu did have a first meeting we just dont know about, what we see in S;G is the next to last cycle before the S;G wordline.

Hey, little nitpick. Throught the video you kept comparing divergence to fate. Did you mean convergence instead? IIRC divergence is where world lines/attractor fields separate/diverge (like the point where Alfa and Beta become different lines) and convergence is where different world lines join up again (like when Mayuri dies).
Hey, little nitpick. Throughout the comment, you kept making mediocre level spelling errors. Instead of "Throught', did you mean throughout instead? And instead of "Alfa", did you mean Alpha instead?
here's what you need to know to create the pin: 1. how many lab members there are 2. who each lab member is 3. what number each lab member is but the missing members means that person was never a lab member. this doesn't make sense, because in order to create the blanks, you'd have to know ALL of the missing information. the ONLY person who could have made this pin is okabe. but the only reason okabe made this pin is because suzuha brought it back from the future. but he couldn't have made it, because the only reason she stopped in 2010 is because she already had the pin. ergo, it's a paradox. it couldn't have been made by anyone but okabe, but he didn't make it. the only logical conclusion is that it was never made by any single person, it just always existed in every single worldline
wait, according to steins gate lore, theres no such thing as a time paradox. what you mentioned, where okabe only creates the pins because suzuha got it from them in the future, which leads back to okabe creating the pins because of suzuha from the future, does not make sense. in steins gate, when changing the past in time travel occurs, it diverges/forks the worldlines to create a new one. one worldline's changes based off the other, and one remaining the same. all worldlines are diverged from a parent worldline, until we finally get to a worldline where nothing from the future manifests. the original. suzuha's pin comes from daru from a parent worldline. that daru's pin comes from okabe in the past of his worldline. that okabe's pin comes from suzuha from another parent worldline of that worldline. this cant loop because all worldlines eventually diverge from the original, meaning theres just one original worldline where nothing can manifest from the future of the parent worldline, as it does not exist. so if we keep following the loop i mentioned earlier of worldlines we will 100% eventually get to a worldline where the pin was legitimately created *inside* the worldline, rather than from a parent worldline, because as i mentioned earlier, there is a original worldline, the mother of all other worldlines divergence.
i think this lore was written after and im always suspicious of stuff that's written after haha. not only is this much less interesting, if you think about all the things that would have to happen to have these things come from an original worldline the story starts falling apart a little
@@WeebJail it does, youre right. its definetly an oversight. like how when suzuha comes from a new future when changing the past. theres that loop i talked about, where the past over time becomes the future, which influences the past, and then that influenced past becomes another future which influences a new past and so on. how many rounds did we go on that loop when we travelled to a worldline where the change made to the past caused suzuha to come from a new future? if it wasnt the same future from before, we at least ran through that loop once, because the changes made to the past were also made in the past of the future of the worldline that the new beta suzuha comes from. i thought maybe that the loop is ran infinitely when the past is changed, but then that would make changing the past impossible because we wouldve ran the loop so many times we eventually get stuck a worldline where changing the past happens to not occur. in the first part of the series, it seemed like the loop is ran no times. but then after the past of the future that suzuha knows starts changing from changes to the current past, it tells a different story.
