Turning myself gay to appeal to a female audience
So my audience is only about 12% women. According to my queerest friend, that can be fixed if I just talk about DRAMAtical Murder and ogle over all the cute boyfriends.
Thank you to my friend @kleptoyade for turning me gay for the content. Yaoi Jesus was definitely an experience.

    in the context of the world depicted in the series, it is not hard to say unequivocally: destroy this world, kill it with fire. there is a surprising amount of power in that moment in the crystal catacombs when Grisha is hesitant to kill the Reiss family, and he kneels beside him and tells him to stand up. Remember what they did to your sister? Totakai! Totakai! I think that Isayama would rather the ending be compelling than to be "satisfying". It would be easy to follow the formula and give people what they want, and he seems to have been given every incentive to play it safe. Rather, it seems that giving people what they wanted was secondary. You can think that the ending undermined the characters, that's fine. We don't all have to agree. I think that's the point. The world does not reinforce kindness in the way we might wish that it would. There is a certain aspect to art that makes demands on the artist, and that's why it's hard to write compelling stories. You don't have the absolute freedom to make shit up. If you could just make shit up, it would be much easier to write than it is. By a certain point, the art makes demands on you that make all things secondary to what the muse is trying to express through you. What the people want becomes secondary, artistic truth is paramount. Thinking it through, you have to imagine that Isayama knew this would be difficult and went through with it anyway because, ironicaslly, he understands that he has as duty to the art to be truthful to it, rather than to cop out and do what would be more satisfying. Again, I think when he is faced with the choice to be compelling or to satisfy expectations, he would rather be compelling than anything else. That's admirable, and there is something satisfying about that. It is a triumph of art over consoling fictions. I think this makes it more vital and more realistic, and all the more heartbreaking. The lessons that audience members seem to thinnk Eren should have embodied is there in the story. Gabi literally learns the lesson that the bullshit she heard about the people of the island were never devils, they were always just people. Having this become the ultimate ending of the story would be redundant and less interesting. Again, just my opinion. If we all agreed on everything, the world would be a very boring place.

    We love to poke fun at 4Kids for the unnecessary censoring they do, and it's not completely unwarranted, but people need to understand that it is very, *very* difficult to adapt a form of media from a different country with a completely different culture. A notable example can be found in one of the poster children of 4Kids censorship, Yugioh. Specifically the Arc V series. In Yugioh Arc V, there was this character called Yugo who was the butt of a running joke where almost everyone he introduced himself to thought he was from the Fusion Dimension even though he's actually from the Synchro Dimension because the Japanese pronunciations for fusion and Yugo are very similar to one another. Now, because this was a small running joke in the series, this wasn't something they could just completely remove. But at the same time the joke would not make any sense to western audiences. So the dub changed the joke to people going "Yugo? You go where?" whenever Yugo introduced himself. It was a really, really dumb joke, but there was little else they could have done. Sometimes there's only so much you can do when trying to localize certain kinds of media.

    Not everyone survived. On top of that. The "happy" ending is two things. One, it's an interesting contradiction, and two, it's catharsis for the sad roller-coaster that this show is. After hours of things just getting worse and worse and worse, there is finally a break in clouds for stray beam of light. Good video.

    Part of me loves aot part of me hates it, on one hand it has a deeply interesting ending reflecting the darkest sides of humanity it is also non typical for a shouben which is somewhat refreshing... However part of me would have preferred them finding like some sort if peaceful solution working through the dark past, like hell they could have kept it kind of interesting still have eren become anti hero and the enemy, maybe unite over killing him if he wasn't so overpowered. No matter what I still appreciate it, it was a good story, doubt I could have written something better.

  • @sungod9797
    @sungod9797 11 днів тому

    For 001, when Okabe normally changes the timeline with Time Leap, it causes a change in the divergence number, but reading Steiner never activates. In order for RS to trigger, the past (compared to Okabe’s current point in time) must change and his “present” self in the new world line must be overwritten with the version of his memories from the earlier timeline. When they delete the SERN echelon database entry, that occurs in the present relative to him, which means RS shouldn’t activate (even though the divergence number and world line should change), since nothing about that present moment should be different. This would only happen if the past (relative to his point in time) changed, forcing an overwrite. But when he deletes the entry, nothing that had happened up to that point in time would be any different, so there’s nothing to overwrite, and RS shouldn’t activate. The only explanation is possibly something to do with the Time Machine not crashing into the radio building due to alpha suzaha never going back, but this is also questionable, since this shouldn’t delete the time machine’s presence in the present (relative to when he deleted it). So the only remaining explanation is that RS activated because when the world line changed, he moved back to the “future” by a couple days, meaning stuff in his new relative past had changed, forcing a memory overwrite. I think if this isn’t true, then 001 is actually a plot hole.

    • @WeebJail
      @WeebJail 11 днів тому

      interesting. you may be right. im pretty sure the time doesn't change, just the current worldline, but you're right in that nothing would get overwritten. i guess maybe it's the act of moving BACK to a worldline--one where this piece of data was not collected in the first place? but maybe it totally is a minor plothole.

    • @sungod9797
      @sungod9797 11 днів тому

      @@WeebJail Thanks for the reply! I think that in order for it to not be a plot hole, Okabe taking an action in his “present” (I.e. deleting the database entry) would need to affect not just “future” events (after SERN finds the d-mail), but also events in his “past”, despite him not using the PhoneWave to perform the deletion in his past (from his POV at the time). Even though he’s using future info to change the past, every other time he uses the Time Leap machine, Reading Steiner never activates because the changes he makes (while they do move the divergence number a bit) don’t require any past memory alteration. So the only explanation is that preventing SERN’s dystopia completely erases alpha-Suzaha’s physical presence from the past, despite her having come in a Time Machine. This seems like it shouldn’t happen for the same reason that you acknowledged she shouldn’t have disappeared in Ep24 when they reach the Steins Gate worldline. Time Machines are made to come from one worldline’s future back into the past, at which point a new worldline is created and the previous is deactivated. Clearly, time travelers don’t blip out of existence every time they set foot in the past to do anything, so changing the world line alone (and thus deactivating their original timeline) clearly shouldn’t affect them. Otherwise time machines would be completely useless since you’d be instantly erased every time you tried going back (since your presence alone would at least slightly affect the world line), which would make it impossible to try and do anything in the past. It really does feel like the show’s logic is that preventing the dystopia alters the past by preventing alpha-Suzaha’s crash into the Radio Building, thus allowing the the conference to occur and Kurisu to die after giving her dad the thesis. This is probably the canonical reason why the world line changes (including the past from his POV) and causes Reading Steiner to activate, but I think this is just a contradiction with how time machines are supposed to work (in terms of the time traveler being immune to getting insta-erased from existence in the past due to a change in the future). Sorry for the long comment; thought I’d expand on this a bit more

    People see things where there simply are none. I heard what they said in the ending. I understood it and take that simply the way it is. If that somehow sucked for some..well tough shit. This is simply a story about how time erases all. People,cultures,beliefs,the good and the bad and yes even the actions that were taken. Untill it eventually and inevitably repeats itself. In a different form but for the same reasons. The only contant is time and change. And there will always be those that oppose it or accept it.
