      I put on an Arlen Ness super sucker. Then I watched a video on air cleaners from DK Products. So I put one of theirs on. The 587. I think I'm must be highly suggestable. This is the vid that persuaded me. Thanks GF. You have the best content around.

    I wonder why people don’t talk more about rerouting those crankcase gases back out of the air intake when you install your high flow breather? I got a catch can setup with my 587 breather from DK customs and it’s absolutely awesome! Some of the best $$ spent on my bike. Easy to install and what a difference with my xl-vied’s and a set of slip ons to complete my stage 1. Made a night and day difference in my bike. Brought that evo engine to life!

    Added a heavy breather on my carbed 2006 Custom XL Sportster 1200. Jetted it; pilot from 42 to 48 and main from 170 to 180. Still not much faster, but it sure as hell gets there a whole lot quicker.

    I just went with the V&H tuner, slip-ons and Screaming Eagle/K&N filter and couldn't be more pleased. The first time I kicked up to 2nd gear it's like "Darn, tighten your grip on the handle bars 'cause she wants to go!" Day and night difference. Out on the highway the performance improvement was more subtle but definitely noticeable. From 0 to 70MPH with the stock configuration you could feel the bike was working to get there, not lugging or struggling, just a little bit "working". After the stage one upgrade and new map it's so smooth, I would say effortless for the M8 kinda like "is that all you got".

    • @GixxerFoo
      @GixxerFoo  3 роки тому +1

      I tuned my bone stock bike with a FP3 using the improved stock map just out of curiosity and it was night and day too! It makes a huge difference when you get some fuel in those bikes, especially the M8's! I'd imagine your overall rideability has improved quite a bit too!

    Slip ons are only ok in touring models up into 2017. The restrictive catalytic converter is in the head pipe. In other models the cat is in the mufflers so slip ons open it up like normal. It's model specific.

    • @GixxerFoo
      @GixxerFoo  2 роки тому +1

      Touring guys got screwed on that deal having to replace the head pipe, plus the placement of that cat was just awful. Those head pipes would get stupid hot with that cat in there.

    I want to eventually put lower fairings on my Road Glide and I've been running the Screamin Eagle heavy breather on it for years. The problem I have now is that lower fairings aren't compatable with a heavy breather. So that's something else to consider. I wish that I had just put an S&S Stealth air cleaner on it back in the day when I bought it. Now I have a Stealth on order to use with either OEM lowers, or Big Bear Performance FXRP style lowers (those are probably what I'll go with).

    Good morning man, just to let you know I realy appreciate your videos. I've learned a lot from them. Especially the one you did about the cam chain tensioner issue. Bought my first bike (05 electraglide) just before I saw that video. After seeing it I had them replaced with the hydraulic ones, Andrews cams TW26A, Fueling cam plate and a T Max tuner. Made a huge difference from stock. My next project is a big bore kit.. possibly the 98" per your video. Also installed the SUNPIE LED head light/passing lights. Had them over a year now and they are awesome for.the price. I'm now looking to replace the air filter per this video. I have the stock cover with an open element behind it (a round one). Not optimal I guess. Toward the end of this video you have what looks like the stock electraglide cover with a thick oval element behind it. I realy like that look. Any idea what brand filter that is and where I can get the same thing? Thanks man, looking forward to your next video! Stay safe out there!

      Thank you, I really appreciate it! That picture at the end of the video was actually a stock cover that had been cut down. You've done some strong work to your bike, that things built right for sure now!

    Thank you Mr. Knowledge House. My dealer said those exact words as he explained to much air is no good,, so just open the stock heavy breather. And when I pushed back based on what I learned on your channel 💯, he then said the cleaner would be a problem ergonomiclu. I purchased the Trask Assault the same day. It adapts to the larger throttle body, thus growing with me build.
    I think it's time to divorce my HD Warranty. I like the people there, I'm just headed in a different direction and I don't take kindly to someone telling me what I can and cannot do with the bike I purchased. This is where I'm at now, in preparation for something serious from Moonshine or Rattler. So at this point a SE tune for the sake of warranty is pointless. Which tune do you recommend for that 22XE?
    Wood 22XE, S&S plate, pump, lifters, cam barring, tappet cuffs, Fuel Moto rods, Trask external breather and M8 Check-Mate...I will use a catch can for both to address vacuum. TBR Shorty Turnout, I will take the minor ding on low-end torque. 14" bars w/ 2" diameter, and Lucky Speed Shop shorty trigger levers.

    Simple way to explain the need for an a ir filter upgrade. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. If the air cleaner is too restrictive, no matter what else is done to the bike will not make any difference. Weakest link for power or strength. Not a hard concept but many still struggle with it.

      You'll need to rejet for the air cleaner, but the engine will only use so much air no matter how big the air cleaner is based on the bore size. Now if you have an air cleaner that is too small with a large bore size the engine will not draw enough air to completely fill the cylinders and cost you a lot of power.

    Very informative video
    I'm interested in the video of throttle bodies
    We've messaged back and forth a bit about my build.....
    So I had to redo some of the build do to a spun crank . Long story short everything is built ( 100" , woods cams , bassani 2 into 1, ported and polished heads, oversized valves etc.).so now I'm looking at a bigger throttle body and injectors ( I'm running the big sucker stage two).
    I'm hoping that's enough filter for the power I'm trying to get.....
    So I'm interested in your knowledge of the Tb.

    • @GixxerFoo
      @GixxerFoo  3 роки тому +2

      Spun crank is the worst, but it's a perfect opportunity to get in there and build it back better than before! The Big Sucker is a great unrestricted open element air cleaner, that will be more than enough air. Throttle bodies are a bit tricky, if you've got enough motor they are absolutely necessary. But putting one on a engine that doesn't have the bore won't do much if anything for it.

    • @1965l88
      @1965l88 3 роки тому +2

      That's not necessarily true. Look at the air box on an Iron 883 or Iron 1200 and tell me it'll flow as much as the filter. There's no way. The intake opening of the air box is less than four square inches while the surface area of the air filter opening is over four times that at a little over sixteen square inches. There's plenty of other air filter designs on Harley's that share a similar situation.

      Thanks for watching! The stock air box can work pretty well, some years are better than others.

    Probably 25yrs ago , forget which magazine it was , but they took some of the most popular aftermarket air cleaners , and did an airflow test in a wind tunnel with rider on the bike. The good ol' S&S teardrop and HD 8in with modified backing plate were near the top. The Hyper-charger type was not.

    What do you think of the s&s test drop? I have a Andrews ev27 with super stock heads and a thunder header. Think it’s worth it for the big sucker?

    Is there a way to test restriction from this air cleaner to that one ...vacuum, infrared heat gun at the head or tail pipe ..??

    • @GixxerFoo
      @GixxerFoo  3 роки тому +1

      Not that I am aware of, Project Farm (dude is smart) came up with some tests on different air filters for cars. He tested paper and the K&N filters, best flow test I've seen. But I don't know of a way other than swapping air cleaners and running it on the dyno.

    Good vid, I'm running the Cobra Power Flow on My Iron 883, with plans for a Hammer kit next season, should I upgrade the AC?

    • @GixxerFoo
      @GixxerFoo  3 роки тому +2

      Hammer is probably going to suggest you upgrade the air cleaner depending on what conversion level you decide to go with. If you're doing a 1275 conversion and keeping the stock heads and cams that air cleaner would work.

      @@GixxerFoo FYI, just the basic conversion, not looking to get too wild. BTW, just re-watched the video on breather catch cans, will be adding that to the conversion, just makes sense. as always, thanks for the info.

    I need help!!!! I've been binge-watching your videos and I need your help making a decision. I'm going to a Harley from a V-Star 1100. It's either going to be a 98 Electra Glide, an 07 Street Glide, or a 2011 Street Glide. No experience mechanically, but I've been doing all of my own maintenance so far and I feel like I have enough common sense to hold my own. Power isn't a priority. What would you suggest?

    • @GixxerFoo
      @GixxerFoo  3 роки тому +2

      I've actually got a video about this coming out Friday, The 98 Electra isn't a bad bike with the Evo, but it's likely injected with the Magnetti Marelli, that's a no go. The 07 SG isn't bad, injected 96 TC but it's gong to likely have the weak compensator. I would suggest the 2011, they had the chassis issues with the touring bike worked out and the compensators were updated. Still the 96 engine which is a great motor, that would be my pick as far as not having to make a few updates.
