Thank you for sharing this video. I am doing a postal jeep with a BHW and Chevy automatic for my wife to use on her mail route. Hoping to at least double the 10 mpg she gets with the 305 in it now.
Hi, thanks for sharing, this makes the wiring situation look so much more simpler ... I will be doing PD swap in my mk1 caddy soon, just want to know if you maybe have a link to the wiring diagram you used.
If you can get on Facebook and search the group "TDI Swapped Trucks" they have a files section with all the wiring diagrams. facebook.com/groups/291980407818664/files/files
Thanks for sharing this valuable information!! I hope to do one of these swaps one of these days. I can't recall if you said on your previous videos but what trans adapter did you do for this chevy swap?
This was from diesel conversion specialists, but in this application the TD conversions kit would have helped firewall clearance, this adapter is only 1" thick vs 2" for the TD conversions kit
Hi, thanks for this video, I like it your method of building the harness from scratch. I was thinking this would be the way to go if you were pulling the engine and parts needed to make it run at the you pull it salvage yard. Pull and snip snip then take it all home! Ross
What, if anything, are you doing about the VSS? Do the PD motors required a VSS to run properly? I’m planning on a BRM into my Comanche, so your video will come in handy. Thanks!
It's easier to explain what is needed to run, everything but the crank, cam, injectors, fuel temp and coolant sensor are deleted off then engine, then there's just the map and alternator plugs off the engine.
OBD2 only needs power/ground/and the k line for communication, but there are 2 grounds on the VW one so I spliced those together, but 3 wires going to 4 pins is all you need
Yes I did stop the music in my videos since then, I felt bad for me being such a dry talker but you are right music doesn't help! Glad to share the info though and thanks for watching!
@@TDISwaps on a serious note, thank you for the information extremely valuable what a pain it is to find a damn brm pin out. Fuck track wiring diagrams and Bentley manuals for not including an ecm pin out.

No problem! This is such a great swap I can't help but want to get the info out there
@devinvian that's awesome! I'm gathering the parts to do my 06 TJ RHD, let me know if you have any tips
Can wait to see how well it drives with the tdi
I wish it was on the road already but life has to take precedence unfortunately 🤣

Wish I had found your channel before sending 1500.00 to Canada.
Me too 😔

Yes this has sure opened my eyes to a whole new process for the wiring!
I guessing it the same as the bhw wiring harness. That's what I'll be using for my build
I haven't looked at the BHW schematics yet but it should be almost the same

The vss is not needed to run, only to make cruise work, I have not messed with it on PD engines yet.
Hey mate, do you know if this could be applicable to a bkd motor? Cheers
As long as the ECU code matches then yes. The BEW uses an EDC16
Is this similar to the cbea and cjaa tdis? I got a cbea with 90k and I finally got it for my 97 tj. Any tips would be appreciated
The CJAA wiring is a bit more complex, but with a good wiring diagram you should be able to do it just like I did this
So what all on the engine harness was deleted?
It's easier to explain what is needed to run, everything but the crank, cam, injectors, fuel temp and coolant sensor are deleted off then engine, then there's just the map and alternator plugs off the engine.
easy to immo delete?
No, it had to be mailed in for a bench flash to turn immo off
Your obd has power/ground and high/low?
OBD2 only needs power/ground/and the k line for communication, but there are 2 grounds on the VW one so I spliced those together, but 3 wires going to 4 pins is all you need
Do you know which ecu pinout is the k line? It’s not clear on the charts
@@alexarmstrong6215 I will have to look again when I get back to my computer/paperwork but the ECU pinout labels it as communication I believe
immo ?
The VW security on the ECU must be turned off by a tuner for this setup to work
Would you be able to send me the source of the wiring diagrams?
If you check out the TDI swapped trucks Facebook group, they are all available in the files section
@@TDISwaps thanks im actually part of that group and never knew haha
@@bilbobaggins4905 ha ha glad to point you in the right direction!
