I’m planning on doing a Dakota 4 door swap with a alh Tdi as well in the future would it be possible for me to use a old 6 cylinder Toyota manual transmission and adapt it to the tdi with a plate but I’m unsure on what kind of adaptor plate you use and I’m wondering if it’s even possible to do the Toyota to tdi adapter
Do you think it's harder to remove the unused pins out of the factory harness? I'm sure this looks cleaner at the ECU. But you hid it well under the dash.
The way I make harnesses in my other videos is by far the easiest, I don't even de on the spares, just tape them up and it goes right under the dash never to be seen again. This is nice but overkill on neatness haha.
We have it back on the road, still waiting on some tuning to get it dialed in just right, had trouble getting a torque converter that would stall like we wanted. Without some better tuning 65-70 mph is about max without egts getting too hot, did a 150 mile trip with it and saw right at 23 MPG
@@TDISwaps Did you ever consider changing out the 46le? I'm scrolling for a nv3500hd. NV3500 should do it but figured if I am already doing the work might as well play it safe. Plus my gear selector on the cluster is already dead haha. Power-wise, stock-ish (disregard the tune) the bhw should put out more power than the bew. Trying to figure out how to adjust the gearing. Anyways, just thinking out loud.
@djolecar88 actually the auto is the ticket with little diesels, boost lag sucks with bigger turbos and clutch work. The transmission does great honestly, we just want it to slip to where it's already in boost so it can take off at full torque. Manual trans completely kills that option. My jeep and Toyota suck off the line. Also the BEW is already tuned for more power than the BHW as is, nobody swaps these to leave them stock haha
@@TDISwaps Fair enough. I really wanted to go with cjaa since I daily one and I am the most familiar with but I got the whole Passat donor for $500. runs mint so I couldn't say no.
I'm not familiar with the AAZ engine and wiring, usually I get tac readings from the swap vehicles crank sensor or through the OBD port on the newer TDIs
@@TDISwaps another question if you have a oil filter housing thst pushes the filter back do you have to run the cooler on the bottom on it or can you just run the filter without it?
Great work!
Thanks for watching!
Great job man can you please share the ECU Pinouts page
All the pin outs can be downloaded from the TDI swaps FB group in their files section. facebook.com/groups/291980407818664/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBT

Oh yeah you can use whatever adapter and transmission you want just have to get hooked to the axles and you're good to go

How’s your Silverado swap working out? I got a high mileage 05 Tahoe but no rust. Contemplating. Also have a BHW donor sitting and ready.

Hey how do you get a tac reading off of a 1.9 Aaz ?

@bransonhutchinson definitely need a cooler my oil temps can get over 230° even with the factory cooler
And this is why I don't make harnesses. It's intensive and a bit of a pain. Glad to see you're doing it though.
I would charge at least double to do this for someone else lol
As long as you're cheaper than Captain Miserable, you'll do well enough.
Fair enough
