Thank you! I spent countless hours over the last two month to work this out. Now it's time to put it to good use and making FPV a better place for all of us by figuring out what antennas and receivers actually make for a difference. Until know, it all felt like voodoo and guesswork to me.
+Micro Motor Warehouse Great video and an awesome way to compare signals! This is how every video signal comparison video should be set up. Good job and thanks for your effort. Will be great to see your upcoming antenna comparison videos, seems like no matter what expensive antennas I buy I can't seem to get a good signal quality. Even got a more powerful Vtx and still the signal isn't very good. Should be interesting to see your conclusions. I'll be anxiously waiting for your next videos.
Just chiming in to say I got the RACING model which is little over 200 usd cheaper. I was also using DUO before, but that ship has sailed. Your vid was one of the ones I saw before making my mind. It is silly how much better it is. I am happy I have pulled a trigger on Clearview, it is a second life for the analogue setups.
What the what?! It's like the ImmersionRC Duo isn't even in the same league! Until I saw this comparison, I figured the ClearView to be some overpriced piece of marketing fluff, but... wow. This thing really kicks ass! Thank you for your comparison, Bene!
That your video who take to buy an clearview unit ! and its awesome ! Me too got the IRC 5800 and same as you it was my prefered but it was ... Clearview is perfect indoor with tiny woop , all the place i do not explore in my house now i can ;)( it raining since i received it so i cannot test outdoor yet ;( Thank again !
One of the best side by side comparison videos demos yet of the clearview and Iftron fpv goodness. Rumor has it that when a few Clearviews are linked, there have been some issues. Trying to confirm that. So maybe you could buy 4 more and test ;) I mean, they are only 700 bucks each, bahahahaha
I can confirm that two ClearView receivers linked with an Oracle will not function properly as a system because the ClearView video output does not provide the information that the Oracle needs. However, an Oracle is really not needed with ClearView.
I first seen Clearview on this channel and fell in love. But for some reason the Clearview 2.0 was defective when we received. We tried returning but then never heard back from them. Love the idea of the technology but they did stop responding to us.
this is how you do a side bye sidecomparison! great job. If possible is it better placement to have antenna on receiver mounted high (3-5m) or low (1-2m) agl?
In my experience, high mounted antennas work a lot better. As far way of any other things as possible, including the ground. When Im flying in open fields, I like to place my receivers on a tripod onto the roof of the car. For flying at home, I previously used a 4-way diversity receiver with antennas connected over 10m pieces of LMR240, spread around the house. Not needed anymore..
+Micro Motor Warehouse thanks for confirming my suspicions. And how would you use 50 ft of SDI cable with SMA adapted ends? So I could spread out and raise the antenna in theory. ??? And thanks again for your productions. That's quite a set up you have there. are you in TV/film industry?
+NOLA DroneWORX Llc don't use SDI cables with adapters, that's lossy. Use LMR240 cables! No, I had nothing to do with broadcasting, this is all purpose-built for FPV ;)
I have no idea how they do it. But it works remarkably well, at least in some scenarios. Love this thing at home. At the race track, not so much. I had a lot of trouble running multiple of them at the same time. But there is some development going on, and the firmware can be update. I have hope..
Clearview a "racing" version for $200 less. Same video quality, a few less bells and whistles. But to be fair, the conditions I showed in the video arent great, the signal is going through walls. If you have clear line of sight, many receivers perform great. You can improve signal quality on any receiver by using the right antenna and a good antenna position. There is also a signal amplifier called "ClearBoost". That screws onto a regular 5.8Ghz receiver and improves video quality in some situations. That, in combination with 5-10m LMR240 cable to put the antenna at the right spot, can yield stellar results for a lot less money.
Dang, 700$ 😮 guess I will have to deal with static 😕 you have too many toys Benedikt! How do you find the time to play with all of them and still find new stuff to get into? Watch out for the back end of them vans, they like to break suddenly haha yes I said break not brake. I have had a few collisions with the van!
I think the receivers will come down in price over the course of the year. FPV is my happy place. Every free second and every squirt of energy goes into furnishing it. I wish everyone could have all that stuff. Im carting all the gear into the city every week to let others join the ride. Wish you could be there ;)
Maybe in the future. The clearview is great but the pri$e ..... I think it's just a matter of time before a reasonable facsimile comes along at a more reasonable price.
Yes, that was a big step up in Rx performance. ClearView has a lot more usable competition these days. By the time of making this video, the Duo5800 was a common receiver amongst FPV enthusiasts.
Great video, but a bit false as the whole point of diversity rx is that higher gain directional antennas can be used. Shame the Clearview is so unreliable and has failed at every event it has been used at!
Thank you. As far as I understand this, the Clearview is working different to other diversity receivers, and can take advantage of two identical antennas. I do see some issues when using multiple receivers in a race setting, but I have the impression that Iftron is on their way to fix them.
This Is simply not true. There have unfortunately been a few irresponsible persons foolishly spreading false information. May I suggest that you recalibrate not only what has been said, but especially just who is saying it. While as with any new technology, ClearView has had a few minor issues, these have been successfully addressed with ClearView's ability to be updated in the field. ClearView has now been the ground station at 3 major racing events and has been flawless.

Micro Motor Warehouse Well Ben, you impress me as I was joking about getting more. You are a true FPV monster brother- thank you very much for the feedback.
When I was a kid, it was the same dream, again and again and again. I would step out of the house, grab my wings out of the mailbox (for some reason there were stored in there..) and fly around the neighbourhood with my friends. One day, same dream - but no wings. The dream stopped. 30 years later, I learn what FPV means, and Im back in the groove, chasing the good ol' dream. Flying with friends is where its at! Racing is just a first step. I have the other 4 receivers (the "Racing" version) to run them at our local club. So far not very successful, but I have faith that we can sort this out. The problem is that they fail to sync horizontally. It seems to be related to many of them running at once, or multiple transmitters running at once. I dont have these issues when flying alone.
Some of those earlier issues had to do with PAL as much as running together. In other words, the limitation did not show up in NTSC. However, we believe that the latest updates (which can be field applied) have resolved this.
Wowzers! not only is the difference between the two amazing, your way of testing and showing the difference is also amazing! thanks.

Will have more of that coming ;)
What Rx and antennas are you using, and it what environment do you fly?
Well done wish more people did there side by side like this!

huge difference. Do you still have the antenna on the roof? If so then see how far you can go.
Truly impressive

+Ira Faberman many thanks. I am curious about several clearview all operating at one time on different channels. real world race comparison.
Clear difference, wow the clear view is nice.
I first seen Clearview on this channel and fell in love. But for some reason the Clearview 2.0 was defective when we received. We tried returning but then never heard back from them. Love the idea of the technology but they did stop responding to us.
LOL... FPV's Knees! Well played sir :D Pretty annoyed that I HAVE to buy a Clearview module now... waiting on my Fatshark Clearview Module.

Good job 👍
Could you do a comparison between the IRC Duo and the Boscam FR632?
Yes, I plan to do that.
The good days
"fpv's knees". LOVE IT lololol
Superb my Friend😎 but tell me how isit possible that this little 25mw vrx has that good penetration.? Almost as good as my 250 mw 1.2 GHz transmitter😠
I have no idea how they do it. But it works remarkably well, at least in some scenarios. Love this thing at home. At the race track, not so much. I had a lot of trouble running multiple of them at the same time. But there is some development going on, and the firmware can be update. I have hope..
WOW! 800 bucks! but i guess you get what you pay for in this case. Great video comparison.
More like $700 for the Pro, but you can get the Racing version with the same video quality for $400.
Man $700 is a tough pill to swallow. is there anything less expensive that can still provide the kind of range it gets? Great vid and thanks
Clearview a "racing" version for $200 less. Same video quality, a few less bells and whistles.

I know , for $700 that's most of people's racing drone, tx,Rx fpv, and battery combined .
Most people I see on the track have spent more on goggles and Tx before even accounting for the quad(s), batteries, charger, tools, spares etc.
It wants to be good looking at the price!

Wow ... ! have u done the same comparison ... clearview vs laforge diversity ?
sorry, I dont have a Laforge receiver.
Maybe in the future. The clearview is great but the pri$e ..... I think it's just a matter of time before a reasonable facsimile comes along at a more reasonable price.
will get me one of them then...
That's not fair. ImmersionRC duo5800 is a glichcase

Yes, I have 5 of them. Can confirm that they have issues when running together.

Any news on this? is it working fine with multiple crafts up in the air and only 20Mhz separation from channel to channel? RHCP/LHCP in use etc?
