I love your simple sump setup. I am going to build mine the same way. Going to buy that skimmer also. Thanks.

+Infamous Aquatics I wish I could've gotten a bigger model, but those things are pricey!

Hi. Why is there a hole in the bottom of the colection cup? Doesnt that defeat the point?

It's so you can drain out the skimmate without having to remove the whole cup. Just a little quality of life thing.

Do you own this skimmer? Do you have any advice on tuning it in? Any warnings? Give us a shout!!

Hey Glitch, I have this skimmer and I love it! I noticed on yours that it appears you have the air intake/silencer on in reverse. I think you'll find if you flip it end to end and fasten the white hose on the other end, the little red peg will then rest in a hole in the lid of the collection cup and stay secure. One of the holes in the lid is slightly larger, and fits the red peg perfectly. And of course you can rotate the lid to wherever you need to so the larger hole aligns with where the white hose comes up from the bottom. The red peg on mine is slightly malleable for a snug fit.
Let me know if you need me to record a short video if I haven't explained very well.
I find this skimmer only gets better with time. It's very easy to clean (speaking from the experience of having the whole thing apart including the pump, more than 30 times during the white slime nightmare). The skimmate in mine is rich and dark. I like it so much that today I bought the Curve A5 for the new tank. You've made an excellent choice I think. 👍

Reefgrrl a vid would be ace thanks! I just left the silencer as it was shown haha. Seems to be a powerful lil beastie. Hopefully it'll help the nitrate issues a bit.

@@yianrouien2476 opps, sorry, its 120 litres, so around 26 gallons. I'm not sure what the specs are for it as it's been a while since I had it!

@@yianrouien2476 most definitely! Once it broke in, I was emptying a load of dark skimmate each week. Well worth it.
