In this video I will be doing a quick bubble magus curve 7 review after having the skimmer on my system for one year. I will taking the skimmer out and doing my three month cleaning. When i first take the skimmer out i put it in a five gallon bucket with vinegar and let it run for a few hours to allow time for the detritus to break down before cleaning. Taking the skimmer apart only takes a couple minutes and is very easy to clean. I also take this time to clean the skimmer section in the 55 gallon sump.

Great review Travis, and I agree the bubble magus is a great skimmer, we were in the market for a new skimmer 2 months ago and I was looking at these amongst other skimmers, everyone was raving about the bubble magus and I was almost sold on them, but when I also noticed you had one too and I queried you about yours and you gave it the thumbs up, I went and got a curve 5, needless to say I couldn't be happier with it and would definitely recommend them to anyone else in the market for a skimmer.
I agree hex the bubble magus makes a good skimmer and for the price it's not the cheapest but also not the most expensive but works from what I hear as good if not better then the top brand name skimmers
Yea i have no reason to go to anything else at this point.

What kind of skimmer did you get?
+FishOfHex it's the one that Michael gave me with the tank www.completeaquatics.co.uk/kent-marine-nano-skimmer in having a few issues with it if I'm honest when I turn it on I'm getting a tonne load of mini air bubbles coming Into the tank and they look awful but the skimmer itself is bubbling away nicely and the cup hasn't filled up yet .... Just the bubble issue is there a way of stopping that or will it chill once the skimmer settles in ?
it might just be it breaking in. If it's still doing it in a couple weeks it's something else. One thing you can do is add 100% felt cloth around the water output of the skimmer to help trap the bubbles. A lot of hang on the back skimmers use a sponge that does basically the same thing. If you can somehow find a way to trap the micro bubbles you should be good. Let me know

Hi, could you help me with size ? The bottom size 235 x 200 - is together with trumpet or not ? I have an empty space in my sump 250 x 210. does that skimmer fit in my sump ? Thank you

Thanks and to be honest i just eye ball it. You really cant use to much when adding water.
I have the curve 7... Was going to get the curve 9 but fish street said they were stopping doing it due to how many impellers they get reported as broken due to poor design. I would therefore just get a second curve 7 if I need to in the future
Guess i got lucky on the curve 9s i have used and sold. I will look into that. I know they went to all Dc pumps so thats cool

How do you siphon out the detritus at the bottom of the sump? My sump is near the ground so gravity won't do much there. Thanks
Mine is about 5 inches off the floor and works good until the water level gets low. If you can fill the sump you have a better chance of getting the siphon. You could also use a pump like a maxijet or something like that to pull water but it could possibly destroy the pump. Using a wider hose helps to start siphon as well.
How do you siphon off the bottom of your sump? Mine is needing it soon but it's so low to the floor.
+vongregor simple gravity siphon. But you could hook a pump up but might risk breaking or clogging.
Do you recommend a curve 5 or omega 150 for a 120 tank

hey man I'll be setting up my first large tank here in a few months and was wondering would you recommend this skimmer for a 150g tank with a 40 gallon sump?
I would go with a curve 9 for that size system

Can I put the magus curve 7 in 8" water?
You can run in both, I have had in 7, 8 and 9" with no issues.
