I have the Curve 7. Probably should have got the 9 but I have a large refugium with Chaeto also. It pulls a lot out. Currently have it in 10.5 inch of water with the valve set a little less than 1. I put an air valve on it but haven't seen any benefit in restricting the air yet. You do have to let it run a while after making small adjustments. Don't expect to just turn a knob and it's perfect.
When I started I bought a Curve 5 and I spent countless hours for years constantly adjusting it. It was a nightmare! Later I bought a RedSea 300 skimmer and the difference is night and day. After the initial setup it took maybe a week of fine adjustments to dial it in. It is also WAY easier to empty. The lesson is don't skimp on a cheap skimmer, spend the extra $200 and you'll be so much happier you did.
Recently picked up the Curve 5 Elite which is essentially the same thing. Started at 10.5" but boiled over and since reduced to 9.5" it works better. The instruction manual is an English teacher's nightmare and is only good for entertainment value. Lol
It's cool but when it comes to skimmer there's 2 questions, Footprint? and budget. Only certain skimmers will fit in my sump's footprint and then I go by budget. So no matter how nice the curve skimmer is, my tank is too small for them.
I struggled picking a skimmer, what is now a year ago. I had been looking at this skimmer and watched whatever I could find on it. It wasn't much that was useful. I ended up with what was locally available and got a red sea rsk-300. If this video was made last year I would probably have this one instead.
I did not like the curve, I tried to use them to the “specifications” was told by many reefers in my area that it had to be in like 4 inches in water. Switched to Red Sea. And I’ll never go back
I am have been running Bubble Magus 7 and a Reef Octopus 150S in my sump for the past 13 months - Reef Octopus blows cheap Chinese Bubble Magus 7 out of the water. Don't buy multiple skimmers, buy a good one and save money in the long run.
It's one of the best skimmers i used since the last 5 years ago and i still have it.
Be patient during break in period. My Curve 7 took a week or so to break in. After that it has been rock solid!
I’ve had my curve 7 for the best part of 7-8 years now and it’s still going as strong as ever
This skimmer has been running in my tank since Sep 2015 until now without any problems. Good product!
I have the curve 7 since 2014 and its rock solid on my reefer 750xxl. I love it.
I have the curve 9 +DC on my 750xxl.
Pulls out alot
Bought a used one, that looked on its last legs. I have clean it and it didn't skipped a beat in 3 years

@Mike Reefkeeper That might be but the design and materials are completely different.
I did the same and went from Red sea to Great white omfg the difference is legit night and day!
May have found my next skimmer!
Great video I wish it was a little bit longer.

I got the icecap k1 130 for 160 on sale a few months ago. awesome for money
I have CR100. Super stuff for normal price.
Also great video
What is the orange stopper for in the body of the skimmer?
I run a curve 9 elite
Dang it...9.5" - 11"... I struggle with the 7"- 8" with the Octo 110, I have now. My sump has no depth control. Hmmm...
What is a good skimmer for 7inches of water?
It depends on how large of a skimmer you need. Some of the smaller Reef Octopus Regal skimmers (like the 150) will do just fine in 7" of water.

I really want the frag shirt in blue. Brs.... when will we have it in blue?
Lots of new swag coming soon!
Awesome sauce!

I was thinking about the new BM D11. nothing about it?
I wish there was an option to turn off background music
noted. Thanks for the feedback!
Ironically I bought this unit a week ago.
I’m gonna say it. I’m not a big fan of the chops....
That's alright! They're chops, they can handle it and appreciate your honest criticism. You've gotta have thick skin to rock chops. ;)
@@ThomasBReef Haha, gotta respect that
$200.00 is NOT budget friendly !! I need one for a 40 gallon ALL of these are way to BIG and Expensive !
top
The DC 10 speed is best others are noisey and a pain in the butt
First!
that's not a skimmer. that's money down the drain
Rubbish
