Prior to Mindreaders on NBC, Dick Martin and Johnny Olson would appear on Match Game on CBS!
This was the first NBC daytime show with announcer Johnny Olson full time since The Match Game ended in 1969
And Johnny Olson would work at NBC as a sub-announcer on four more NBC daytime shows from Goodson-Todman between 1980 and 1983: Password Plus, Card Sharks, Blockbusters and Match Game-Hollywood Squares Hour.
Dick Martin is one of 4 Laugh-In performers to have hosted a game show. The others are Richard Dawson (Family Feud / Masquerade Party), Arte Johnson (Knockout) & Gary Owens (Nighttime version of the original Gong Show).
The font used for the Goodson-Todman logo would later be used in the video games Smash TV and Total Carnage.
Famous Dick Martin line.
1:32 That buzzer reminds me of blockbusters
Family pair buzzer I think
Blockbusters buzzer.
In addition to being a hilarious and irreverent Match Game panelist, Martin was a decent game show host. I liked him here, but he was even more in his element when he did the spoof of game shows, "The Cheap Show" - which would be fun to have come back!
Aside from his fill-ins, I believe this was Johnny Olson's only game show for NBC.
Johnny Olson was the announcer for the original Match Game which was on NBC from 1962 to 1969. Sadly, those episodes no longer exist.
The co-star of laugh in and now host of mindreaders, I remember this show when I was little and I hope this game show should be on the next ABC Summer Fun And Games.
MR. MARC PRICE MISS TERRI IVENS & THE PARTY & NEWCOMER BRANDY PENDLETON WILL HOST THE NEW MINDREADERS AND THE NEW ANNOUNCER IS MR. GEORGE GRAY.
Stay tuned for Password Plus next on NBC
First part of the bonus round would later be used in the final season of CBS's "Card Sharks" in the car bonus round.
Elizabeth May on the ladies' team went on to become the leader of the Green Party of Canada.
Oh man, that is her! She would have been going to school in Nova Scotia at the time, but during her political career, she's been representing a riding on Vancouver Island in British Columbia for over a decade.
When Canadians were allowed to be contestants. At last check only Price is Right allows non USA residents
@@markjones1184 Jeopardy still does. As of April 29, 2022, the latest super champion is a Nova Scotian based in Toronto. I believe the current version of Let's Make a Deal has been able to have Canadians as contestants since they moved the show to Los Angeles from Las Vegas.
@@bluebear1985 I was told by someone who knows these things, basically the Production talent agents not wanting to deal with paperwork. Yet Price does, assuming still do. Press your luck 84 did. Yes sounds like Jeopardy now allowing👍
An episode of Mindreaders will be airing as part of Buzzr's next Lost and Found at the end of this month, so I guess there's a master out there after all.
This competed up against the $20,000 pyramid on abc and the young and the restless on cbs (abc cancelled 20,000 pyramid later in the season in order to move family feud to that time slot)
I wonder if Buzzr or GSN knows anything about this show!!!
The original masters no longer exist is my understanding, also why would they want to air this garbage even if it was available? The goal is to get people to watch your Network, not run away screaming
An episode of this will be airing during a special Lost and Found block on September 25 on the Buzzr diginet. So at least one episode seem to exist.
Correct me, if I'm wrong, but I believe this was the 1st game show to use a VANE scoreboard
There’s a cleaner copy of this titled WNBC December 13 1979
I own a Bible and a small Bible.
TheEvasons, do u have Part 2 of this?
Eric Soley no we don’t.
Does anybody know if they won the $5,000 or not?
no time to play for the big money
Contestant Ray Singleton was at one time married to Motown Record founder Berry Gordy.
I remember watching another episode here on YT. Later I remember Cyndi Seidelman of "Game Show Gumbo" (originally Garbage),gave her review of it (and as per her tradition it was not a nice one.)Though it was not the strongest format, the show wasnt as bad as she said, This was a bunch of Goodson Todman Ideas ( Match Game style guessing Family Feud style questions, audience play in bonus round ) centered around Dick Martins dry sense of humor. Dick seemed a better panelist than MC l. If I were Goodson I would've hired somebody like Geoff Edwards or Bert Convy (Tattletales had some elements used on this show too) to host.
Can I have the rules
1 Vs 100 was kind of a rip off of this show
With respect, this show is horrible, I made it to minute 11
👩🦱I agree. This game show sucks hooch!! I only love the music and lights; Giggle❣❣
With all respect this wasn’t the only failure on nbc daytime, there would be a bigger failure called the David letterman show.
@@jamesklatt Yeah, and we lost 3 great game shows because of it. Hollywood Squares, High Rollers and Chain Reaction. I'm still pissed 43 years later.
