This show is literally one of the best!!! The cast is incredible and I can't stop laughing, crying and watching!!!! This is one of the best HBOs shows out there!!!
I’m sooo glad I was born to see an extraordinary woman like Julia, while she was still living! Only a few like her comes along in every generation. For example, Maya Angelou. Meryl Streep did an awesome job playing Julia, but this actress does an awesome job as well!
This is an EXCELLENT series. Don't be put off by the 8 episodes. You will want MORE.
Fabulous cast; fabulous show. I hope HBO has the guts to stick by it for the long haul.
This looks like a fun movie. I hope, at least for a moment, someone mentions Julie's service in WWII. She was in the OSS and was partially responsible for the development of a shark repellant still used today. While she wasn't sent into occupied territory, you didn't get to be in the OSS unless you were, the words of Bill Donovan, head of the OSS, 'A tough customer.'

It's too bad HBO can't tell the story without the feminist agenda. The story stands on its own without additional agenda-driven scaffolding.
The waves of feminism were rapidly on the rise and hotly debated in that era, so it was undoubtedly an extremely present social conversation among Americans of the time. Of course that would include Julia Child and those she knew. It’s not misplaced at all; it only makes sense. That’s not an agenda. That’s history.
Could not continue watching it, the series pushes the woke ,BML, LGBT agenda.
The producers changed the race from white to black of the Assistant Producer that worked with Mrs Child, no need to have males cavorting, or the BLM speeches of 2 invented characters.
Mrs Child was not a feminist, she was supportive of her husband, other women.
She earned 3 medals for her work during War II.
Why Hollyweird has to basically insult, negate the real people that worked with Mrs .Child.
We are not idiots.
Ms Lancashire was excellent ,first class actress.
I don't see her accepting another role from any American producers .
Just finished watching her in the final episode of Happy Valley.
The women of the Silent Generation built networks. The women of the Boomer Generation moved in and pulled up all the damn ladders after themselves.
Way yo ruin a show with ideologue banter. People don't enjoy being preached at.
The show was renewed for a second season. Clearly it wasn’t ruined. Also, ideology is a thing of conversation in the lives of all intelligent people. It took intelligence to live the lives these figures lived and it takes intelligence to put a show like this together, so of course the intelligence of ideological banter would be part of it.
As for people not enjoying being preached at... Religious people would disagree with you.
I watched the first episode for free and the price was right. Horrible! Julia would be disgusted. The woman playing Julia was playing Meryl Streep as Julia at best and sounds more like Hyacinth Bucket. David Hyde Pierce was an OK Paul, but he couldn't compare to Stanley Tucci. The characterization of Julia was just awful and her relationship with Paul was too subservient.
You have to keep an open mind!!! This is a series not a movie and the whole entire cast is incredible. The actors are all good!!! Anyway you are entitled to your opinion 🙂 but we can agree to disagree peacefully. You watched 1 episode which I don't feel is giving this series or actors a real shot. Anyway I watched every single episode and it truly gets better!!!
Are people being *paid* to say this actress has done a brilliant job - or is it an uncritical fan base? Her voice is high pitched and her British accent is very apparent. Forget about how Meryl Streep's portrayal was much more accurate - even Dan Ackroyd's version was better. 😐
