$1.29 for an lb. of ground beef. Ohhhh yeah this is a classic for sure. I always think of Dan's skit on Saturday Night Live when I see a clip of Julia Child. Thanks to all the great comedians that brought laughter into our lives.
My father ate raw hamburger with onion slices on white bread his entire life. It was gross to all of us but he really enjoyed them. And he called it beef tartare
My Dad did that too until E coli became an issue and he started getting worried about contamination in store bought ground beef. Actually really good and you can still prepare it if you grind a good cut of meat yourself. Delish! Cheers!
I just love her!! I have read her books and I wish i could sit and talk with her!! I am doing my own Gluten Free Julia challenge and will be posting my recipes for the next couple months! Love her heart!
I forgot that I saw this live. I thought it was funny because of all the faces Dave made. But watching it now, I get to see what a funny person Julia was. So quick witted.
"aren't turkeys loaded with all kinds of preservatives and they're just uh, full of chemicals?" "no that's just what the chicken raisers say" aged like unpasteurized milk
I hope she was warned she'd be cooking with a smarmy punk, she handled it very well. Any normal person would want to hug her tight and enjoy interacting joyously. When I 1st saw her a half century ago it was ❤ at 1st sight. We ate raw hamburger when Mom 1st came home from shopping and was distracted putting away the groceries, she assumed we were helping her. I think it was.89 cents/lb then.
She thought the SNL over the top show was funny but didn't understand blog and never have julia and julie a chance. I wish she had seen the movie and knew its was a lovely trubute.
Julia Child was 74 here. She died 18 years later, just shy of her 92nd birthday. She has her own cooking channel on PlutoTV now! I'm sad to say my most memorable Julia Child moment is STILL that SNL sketch where Dan Aykroyd portrayed Julia cutting an artery in her hand and bleeding to death on screen! I know, it's terrible! 😅
All farm raised meat is GMO. You think pigs and cows looked like that before humans? They're not allowed to breed themselves - farmers use turkey basters.
Julia's a winner on this show. Dave was respectful and impish at the same time. What a great show this was.
"impish!" LOL! So true!
“that’s just what the chicken ranchers say” HOW DID THAT NOT GET LAUGHS
I know!! It was so funny!!!
Cause letterman fumbled the bag on this whole thing lmao, Julia stole the show. This man wasn’t and still ain’t funny
I think she was serious!
She had such grace and good humor. We all are better off that she shared some of herself with us.
In those days you were gracious enough to let the person make a fool of themselves. Then step away. Best say nothing. Good manners.
Julia Child...the original iconic world-class chef.
One of a kind. There will never be another Julia. She was really something special ❤❤❤
She was truly so funny. “Seal… kinda fishy” 😂😂😂
I just loved her. She and Mr Roger's were TV family for me in the 70's.
We didn't get this as kids over here in Ireland, but we did get sesame Street!
Treasured memories of watching Julia with my grandmother before I even started school. More than just a cooking show, she was inspirational.
“Beef tartare au gratin!” Julia was quick on her feet.
9:11 Cutting into the Tartar and the sound effect of a cow mooing. 😄
Lmao. Can you imagine sth like this nowadays? The woke gen would go crazy
“ I give it to my husband “ …😂🤣👏🏻❤️
These two should have gone on the road. She is brilliant and perfectly able to match Letterman joke for joke. Braised Seal!!!
I enjoyed the proposed seal on the menu. Always a great moment to stun Dave into silence
she's like bob ross. only had happy accidents.
Julia is fearless and peerless, both qualities showing her cooking and entertainment prowess. She was always effortlessly in the zone.
Child was always so damn charismatic and herself. I feel like Letterman was kinda nervous with her.
No matter how good David was at making sport, Julia Child could volley.
A portable electric stove that won't work? Another Fine GE Product! 😂
$1.29 for an lb. of ground beef.
Ohhhh yeah this is a classic for sure.
I always think of Dan's skit on Saturday Night Live when I see a clip of Julia Child.
Thanks to all the great comedians that brought laughter into our lives.
I always think of SCTV Battle of the PBS Stars Mr. Rogers vs. Julia Child
@@hankjones8814 Just watched it. John Candy and Martin Short. Excellent and thank you.
$1.29 in 1986 would be about $3.20 in today's dollars
@@marcopuleo And chicken quarters were 39 cents a pound.
What a darling lady.
She hit a home run with the TarTar.
It's tartare.
haHA! That looks so fantastic!! My grandma used to make "melted cheese in-a-bowl"! There aint nothin wrong with simple recipes! MMMMMM
She was so good with David.
Christ he got on my nerves so much during this! Julia was a queen as always despite the clown next to her.
Lol I love her mickey mouse Pillsbury Doughboy voice
It's cute aww hope she lived happily long after that
I'm watching this and comparing The HBOMAX Julia to the real Mrs.Child and she nailed it. If you haven't seen the series. It's very Good.
The HBO series called Julia is REALLY GOOD. You can watch the first episode free on UA-cam
Yesssssssss
Talk show hosts always get a little nervous when Julia fires up the blow torch.
My father ate raw hamburger with onion slices on white bread his entire life. It was gross to all of us but he really enjoyed them. And he called it beef tartare

Ubiquitous comment to mention that this badass woman was a government spy during WW2.
Julia with the Big Boss Energy here
She was always at the top of her game -- nothing ever fazed her! LOL
Have you ever tried seal? 😂😂😂😂😂
Tastes like chicken.
Heidi has and she loves it
Julia is the Queen 👑
I'm crying. Julia Child has some funny lines
Dave and Julia are great together! Weird that the audience didn't seem to be picking up on a lot of the jokes.
‘That’s just what the chicken raisers say.’ My god she just told facts and the audience wasn’t ready
I just love her!! I have read her books and I wish i could sit and talk with her!! I am doing my own Gluten Free Julia challenge and will be posting my recipes for the next couple months! Love her heart!
She handled his constant chatter well.
my mom has that same video set lol
watching this im just amazed now how Sarah Lancashire just nailed the character of julia chilld. amazng.
you can see the true Dave as he puts the second bite in his mouth and the way his eyes are looking around..
I would loved to sit back with a bottle of wine and just talk food with Julia
I just cant get over daves reaction of eating the raw meat,
so funny,
Its a GE stove!
She was awesome.
NBC years are marvelous!!
Her comedy was underutilized, they should have given her a Late Night Show lol
Please upload the driving through the same toll booth bit!!!!!
I forgot that I saw this live. I thought it was funny because of all the faces Dave made. But watching it now, I get to see what a funny person Julia was. So quick witted.
sound guy for the win!
Julia is wondering why she’s on with this fool… I love Dave!
And that's why I prefer gas. You at least know when your stove is ON.
Funny watching the king of clownery being completely neutered by Julia
Oh, yes! Love it! Classic TV!
Tv gold
"aren't turkeys loaded with all kinds of preservatives and they're just uh, full of chemicals?"
"no that's just what the chicken raisers say"
aged like unpasteurized milk
nothing wrong with teflon at all...
ms child was utterly unflappable, even in the face of letterman's annoying condescension.
Wow never knew she was so tall
She was 6'2" and I just learned her sister was 6'5"!
I hope she was warned she'd be cooking with a smarmy punk, she handled it very well.
Any normal person would want to hug her tight and enjoy interacting joyously.
When I 1st saw her a half century ago it was ❤ at 1st sight.

I think it was.89 cents/lb then.
She was on his show multiple times. She knew what she was doing 😉
That's what you get when you do not give me a working stove. Raw beef is what Julia Child is teaching Letterman a lesson with.
Watch the HBO show about her,it’s good!
Love Julia Child but the moo made the segment.
That was hilarious
This pasta sounds like it might be 'trofie con salsa di noci alla Genovese' from Liguria.
She.
Is the kind of person you would want on a desert island
Nice show
The goat
You can hear the cow mooing faintly at 9:07. Incredible...
I had a cousin from Mexico who looked like Julia Child
Good raw beef is great. I love a good carpaiccio.
They both have the same haircut.
They have the same barber
Both 6'2"!
Ground beef was $1.29 a lb. Now it's $6.00.
Try $10! It is here on the West Coast. :(
Yep. Things change over a 36-year span. Who'd have thunk it?
But don't forget minimum wage was also like $3 an hour back then.
Knocl out for me is sous vide turkey
What’s Dave got in his hair?
E. coli is the Epicureans delight!
How about a seal burger. OY. 👀
Well, I like you anyway...
I once had some hamburger salad at a potluck: raw cheap hamburger mixed with mayonnaise. it was nauseating.
I wonder if they swap wigs at the end like opposing international soccer players do with shirts at the end of a match.
I love julia , but is anyone other than me noticing they have the same haircut 😂
I grew up watching Julia Child, but I've got to tell you, she doesn't even sound real.
She looks and acts like she could be his mother….
They do have awfully similar haircuts.
She thought the SNL over the top show was funny but didn't understand blog and never have julia and julie a chance. I wish she had seen the movie and knew its was a lovely trubute.
I remember seeing this back then and to this day the words Beef Tartare still make me ill.
Yum.
i'd eat it. frick dude good stuff
Beef tar tar au graten

Actually, Julia Child thought it was funny. She had a tape of it and played it for guests, as well as imitating it. Save the Liver !!!!
As opposed to GMO meat.
All farm raised meat is GMO. You think pigs and cows looked like that before humans? They're not allowed to breed themselves - farmers use turkey basters.
Oh buzz off
Raw meat yuck
What is this aspect ratio lol
4:3, every computer and tv looked like this for dacades before HD.
Raw meat with melted cheese ?
That is nasty …🤮
