    I just ran into this problem and there are two possible answers to why that weeping hole is leaking. #1, the water pump has failed, and #2, the thermostat housing has a small hole, and if your car ran hot enough, this small hole on the housing will rupture, causing fluid to into the weeping hole and exit the weep hole. In our case, the thermostat housing and the water pump was bad and needed to be replaced. If your vehicle is higher mileage and was almost over heated or over heated, id recommend replacing the water pump, thermostat and thermostat housing to fix this problem. Otherwise, you'll be chasing a problem over and over again. Best of luck!

    Thanks for posting this. I have an 05 Stratus with a 2.7 in it. First thing I did was tear down the motor and replace the water pump. And since I had to remove the timing chain to get at it, I also replaced the timing chain, chain guides and tensioner, shaft seals, serpentine belt, alternator, valve cover gaskets, coil packs and sparks, and the oil pan gasket. Job took me a week and cost me $500. 40k miles later I’m losing coolant and it’s not coming out of the weep hole or going into the oil. WTF where is it going?!?

    The V6 all have this problem. First had to replace radiator because of leak ($1200), then water pump due to thermostat housing. Timing chain must be replaced as well when pump goes out (2200).. F*** this $h1t. Ill just get another car. Its still at the dealership

    I have the same problem and I replaced the thermostat and the o ring on the inlet pipe and it was good , I tested it with water ran it for 5min no leak then I replaced the water with coolant and it started leaking again . I think the o ring has to be from the dealer or oem spec, I found out that it’s the water pump weep hole so the water pump is bad . Don’t buy American cars you will need a engine if you over heat

    You have to let car run for like 5-10min to allow water pump gasket to seal then leak will stop, especially after new waterpump

    • @pigghedd8245
      @pigghedd8245 Рік тому

      I’m come across this solution myself. Only logical fucking answer. No way that’ll just hold. I’ve heard that replacing the water pump, you need to actually run the engine to get the seals to Break in, so my plan is to plug the weep hole, considering my car isn’t leaking coolant into my oil. And run it for some time, then unplug it and pray that it’ll hold the coolant. Kinda sketchy But I am not taking that fucking car apart again FUCK THAT I’ll update you guys with the results. Seems like I got the car with no freeze plugs, and everyone’s kinda overlooking it, they wanna jump to the conclusion that the housing is bad or the thermostat or the yadda yadda. But I just replaced everything and I’m doubtful.

    • @pigghedd8245
      @pigghedd8245 Рік тому

      @@miriamgranger7129 yeah, I had to unplug the weep hole where the thermostat mounts to the car, and re install the thermostat to get it to stop leaking, there’s a certain amount of torque the bolts need, if you over tighten it, it’ll leak if you under tighten it it’ll leak

    • @joseportillo1124
