Yea see if there’s any liquid in the combustion chambers. That’ll cause your situation. Just had that on a lawn mower as well, bad float/needle in carb caused fuel to pour on top of piston. Acts just like a dying battery when that happens. Pull plug, crank, reinstall plug, fires up.
2004 2.7 GTC 145k miles. Plugs out. No hydro-lock. Crank spins with a 3/8 drive now. I pulled front valve cover just to inspect. Very clean. Chains tight. It's like the starter hits a dead short between start/run circuit. 99% sure it's electrical. Starter won't spin !! Thanks for all the help.
Hi there! I have a question for you... I have the same engine in my Dodge Magnum and having trouble putting the new primary tensioner back in through the hole enough to screw the cap back on. The rear end of the tensioner sticks out too far. Any tricks? Advice? Do I need to tap or pound on it? Thank you!
So if no coolant coming out the weep hole and car no over Heating than the water pump good? Or you saying if coolant is in the oil it can still be the water pump ?
Hello, sir loved the video. i replaced the water and oil pump. my problem is the timing chain matalk. 2006 300 2.y I can't keep thew timing marks at 12pm .w camshaft moves when I move the cam to line the holes to put the bolts in sprocket
Thank you!! This video really helped me with a DYI. Had a failed water pump caused by chain slack due to the bad tensioner. I did have to do a complete tear down again due to not having the cam chains in time-these also have painted links that line up on their sprockets-5 points of timing
Im doing a complete timing chain, water pump kit. If i align all the tic marks on the passenger cam, driver cam, and lower engine, will that align the timing for the engine? My 1999 intrepid timing i know is off bc when dismantling, the chain was jumping. So im wanting to make sure. thanks for you videos, its helpful. toss some answer my way. thanks.
With timing cover and valve covers off, turn crank (which will also turn cams) clockwise until marks on cam sprockets (not chain) are pointing nearly upwards and crank mark is lined up. Disassemble timing components. Replace water pump. Install new components. When installing chain adjust cam/crank (should only take a small amount because your marks are very close) so that marks on chain match up with marks on sprockets. Your engine should now be in time.
I have a Chrysler 300 2010 2.7 l harmonic balancer will not turn I believe the engine lock up check oil light was on could this be a timing chain issue or need a new motor L
@@FerKurl I have a 2.7 Chrysler 300 changed the spark plugs and under the plenum, just like in your video(16:20 mins) the passenger side valve cover and foam had oil. Curious as to why, great video!
jgt jgt oil can leak out of the valve cover gasket or seals or pcv hose if it has a crack in it. The foam is supposed to be there. Someone could have spilled trans fluid while filling, it’s right above there and a tiny tube

thats a head scratcher, with the info youve given me ill try to come up with something, last time i had this situation it was coolant in 2 of the combustion chambers, pull as many spark plugs as you can (preferably all) disable fuel pump and spark (pull fuses) then see if it cranks over
Hey I got a question I have the same car and the guy took out the timing chain to replace the water pump now I am putting it back up and he said he left marks to align the timing chain to where it used to be but it’s not lined up with the line and arrows at all from the mark on the camshaft and arrows ? So which one should it be align to ?
After the motor has been turned over the camshaft marks will change. Basically whenever you loosen or take off the timing chain you should reset timing completely. Always recommend using a new chain, tensioners and guides.
The absolute worst engine Dodge ever built...reminds me of the intrepid,...they just couldn't make it easy like the Ram 4.7 engine, or even the 5.7 hemi...those water pumps just fall off once you get past the fan clutch..2.7 not reccomend for diy's...Hats off to the mechanic!
Great video, it should be included with the Haynes guide for DIY shortcuts, I really liked the close-ups, super-infomative. Thanks!

Water pump changed engine is timed. Should I recharge the AC before turning over engine? I'm not familiar Mopar to that degree
We replaced the water pump and now it won’t start. I think the timing marks are off
That’s a good possibility. Something didn’t get hooked back up or timings off
SPOILER ALERT: TAKES OFF VALVE COVERS. So if that is what you are watching for its probably not possible, no fault to the vid maker its just reality.

so does that means the guy set the timing chain right then ?
It is possible he set it right. If you do the job that way instead of resetting everything it’s easier to make a mistake in my opinion
I mean it’s less likely to make a mistake if you reset everything properly with new parts.

Mr Grow very true, it was nasty. These motors are prone to sludge buildup though
