    So I have a 2.7L flexfuel Dodge Journey 2010. Think the engine is called Chrysler LH 2.7 dohc.
    My coolant drains slowly. The reservoir for the coolant has black on the top ner the inlet return.
    Took 4weeks for the reservoir to get empty.
    But my oil dipstick is all black oil. No milky. Its black. Even under the engine oil cap its black inside.
    I think of its the head gasket my oil whouldnt be all black.
    Please what can it be. If its head gasket. The shop said 3750 euro.
    I might as well scrap it but I dont wanna. Love it

    What if the oil is mixed in the antifreeze instead of the antifreeze mix with the oil?

      It’s the stupid timing chain driven water pumps that dread those engines. It’s stupid to put the water pump inside the engine.

      Jacob Vuna ur water pump has a small leak it’s ur water pump over time it’s leaks to much that ur oil starts looking milky

      It’s the stupid timing chain driven water pump. These engineers thought it was a smart idea to put the water pump inside the engine driven by the timing chain. They are idiots.

    So this isn’t a blown head gasket? It’s only the water pump?

      What could be the reason and any solution

    • @OzMechanics
      @OzMechanics  6 років тому

      On the 3.6 I believe they have external water pumps

    • @ZaimxX0

      Oz Mechanics . Do you think it would be leak in water pump?

  • @Jhihmoac
    @Jhihmoac 3 роки тому

    You HAVE to replace these damn water pumps (and timing chains) every 75000 miles, because that's when the bearings and seals on the pump usually go, allowing coolant to contaminate the engine oil, leading to big time failures!
    Also, switch to synthetic motor oil and replace that every 3500 to 5000 miles as well

      Say Oz, my girlfiends Buick Reagal 2001 had a recal for possible engine fire and the previous owner took it in, then we got it and it had an annoying smell, it was oil from the valve cover gasket leak so we had it fixed, it was the same problem, this was allegedly fix on the recall Well we parked it at a Seattle Mariner game parking lot and in Five minutes it had dripped oil on to the exhaust and ignited! After the game we saw it had caught on fire and the fire dept had been there. Then about 3 weeks later We Get Another Recall Notice "possible engine fire" it was towed and waiting "inspection from GM" and were waiting for. Monetary compensation! Many vehicles many years have the same motor. Sucks it was a very dependable car...

      @@davidnorbertgarza Coolant and oil do not mix and if you mix it, it’s a fire hazard. Same goes for the FWD Ford 3.5, 3.5 EcoBoost, and 3.7 V6 engines.
