*Hello lovely people! Thanks for all the love on the first Scotland vlog :) Here's days 1-3 of our Scottish adventures, it's quite long as I wanted to fit three days into one vlog, so pour yourself a cup of tea, or a glass of wine and settle down for some cosy time in the Highlands* 💙 *Ali x* ✨
I was in Scotland, with my husband, in May of this year. We visited the Commando Memorial and we thought it was so impressive. We loved our stay in Scotland. We toured around from Newcastle, via the east coast to the west coast and Isle of Skye. This was our second visit and I live it so much I could live in Scotland for ever 🥰🏴
Thank you for allowing us to join you in your holidays in Scotland, even though I now live on Vancouver Island Canada it reminds me of my family holidays in Scotland in the 60s.
Thank you, Ali! These vlogs are really like being along on your holiday. I followed you up there on my roadmap of great Britain. What a lovely B&B in every respect! Good bolognese management. I used to teach 8 hours from my hometown, where I visited my parents , and when it was time for me to return, my mother would give me soups, etc. that she had made and frozen, and they would be partially thawed by the time I reached my destination.
Enjoying your Scottish vlogs…it’s years since we’ve been. It got me thinking. Where your ancestors Scottish? When you’re there do you ever imagine what life could have been like for your family if your parents hadn’t moved? Q&A may be called for 😂 xx
You ARE a great drawer Ali! I always love your drawings. The bookstore looks incredible - could spend ages wandering it! I'm not sure about that sketch of a tarsier though at 10:26. It looks a little "where the wild things are"! "Malt Whisky" 🤣 I would have got that for my retired manager who loves really peaty scotch and would enjoy the humour of that. 13:28 Ohhhh, that right there is a slice of heaven! Visually beautiful and soooo quiet! I loved when Dan said "God it's big!" about the Eurasian elk. My Dad was 6'1" tall and we were out fishing one day when a bull moose walked out of the bushes behind him. It absolutely dwarfed my Dad!
Ohhh Loch Ness! The memories ❤ thank you for making me travel to Scotland again through your vlogs! The wildlife park looked so interesting too! And the red squirrel 😍 my most favourite mammal ♥️ and the toadstools 😍🍄 also, you might not have seen the pine marten yet, but the vole was so cute 😍 so glad to see you all enjoying your vacation and your loch paddling 💗
@thislittlewonderfullife - when were you on holiday? If last week then there were quite a few flyovers (twice a a day) on certain days for the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. As far as I know they would come from Lossiemouth.
I can’t afford a vacation right now so I am living vicariously through you. I could almost smell the fresh air when you walked out to your loch. Beautiful place.
We’re so used to low flying jet planes here in Snowdonia + We think rescue helicopters use our conservatory as a beacon to take a 90degree turn to land in the nearby hospital. All I know is they wouldn’t do this over London but at least in rural ish areas they are there to keep us all safe Jen xxx 😘
What a vacation 🙌. In Nederland we do not encourage pine marten’s , they eat your electric wires in cars. Really a big problem. I wouldn’t mind the lock at the bottom of my garden🥰😁 Not a Harry Potter fan either. Never got the bug. Have a lovely holiday 🥂
I think the planes are practicing, we were in the lakes a few weeks ago and you see them all the time there just come out of know were! A lot of military training over those parts. Look lovely 🥰 xx
Fantastic video! Love your new look, the sights, everything. The bookstore would be so fun, and you make Loch ness and Inverness real places for me - which is beyond cool. I always enjoy seeing what you put into the girls bags. You make paddle boarding look so fun, though I couldn't do it as I don't even know how to swim! Not sure I want to make the effort to learn at 64! Going back to finish the video now. You bring so much happiness to me, and I love the armchair adventures. Love to all from Shari in Cincinnati.
Years ago, I walked the West Highland Way. All your photos and the places you are visiting bring back such lovely, lovely memories. We walked quite a while beside Loch Ness and I was absolutely certain that Nessie would come to say hello, but alas, she did not. Perhaps next time I visit! :)
Thank you for bringing us along on you vacation! I feel like I'm seeing all the lovely sites of Scotland with you. You have chosen the perfect music to accompany your video too. I can't wait to see more of your family adventures.
I have to say that you pick the perfect music to accompany your videos! The scenery was magnificent and I truly enjoy your narration of events! Thank you for taking us along on your vacation, you are all a pleasure to spend time with! I am happy you had a wonderful time! :)
Inverness is so familiar to me, it was lovely to see it again! We lived in Kinloss - probably about an hour East) for 6 years and visited Inverness often!
I’m so excited .. vlogs 2 days in a row in one my very favourite countries 🏴 Thank you for sharing your family holiday with us .. I love Scotland so much, particularly the northwest highlands .. I felt right at home from the moment I arrived there on holiday. I’ve since found out that my direct ancestors came from Lochaber, near Fort William. Perhaps the Scottish love is in my genes. In the late 90s my mum and I were at Urquhart Castle when the fighter jets came zooming by … it’s over 20 years ago and I can still remember that brief moment of thinking the world was ending 🤣 The RAF train in that area … I’m sure they get an extra special high knowing they’re scaring the living bejeezus out of everybody on the ground. Really enjoying your adventures and can’t wait for the future vlogs. Thanks so much Ally, Dan, Lillia and Phoebe!
Well, look at you, Ali, becoming a fashionista! The overalls are cute. You've packed in a lot in these three days. The book store looked amazing. Did you try any traditional Scottish meals?
Thanks Patty 😅 The girls help me out and encourage me with trying new outfits, bless them :) I did have some more traditional Scottish food later on, hopefully in the next vlog 😃
Ooh I’ve seen that shipwreck!! But from a coach 😅 so thank you for letting me have a close up look at it! What a busy first few days. I’m exhausted just watching all that you’ve been doing. What fun you’re having x
Such beautiful scenery in that part of the world! Glad you were able to get out on the paddle boards on your own loch! What a treat! We visited the Nessie centre years ago but it looks very different now! Glad you had such a lovely time x
Hi Ali, thanks for sharing your holiday with us, I love the scenery and tranquility of the Highlands. We visited the Reindeer Centre in Aviemore a couple of years ago, we walked up into the hills to meet the reindeer herd and were able to feed them. It was amazing. I feel I'm reliving our Scottish holidays as I watch yours. Thanks so much x
I love seeing Scotland again , seen the railway bridge and we went to the Ben Nevis distillery and brought a bottle of whiskey 🥃 …. Really nice whiskey and kept the bottle as a memory from our time there 💞📚💞
I’m so happy you’re sharing your holiday with us! Scotland remains a dream for me, but I hope one day I’ll get there! In the meantime, I am really enjoying the ride with your family! Can’t wait for the next video!
When we were at the viaduct last year we did the train. You don’t really get a good view from the train. You were smart to get the view from the ground.
Thanks! I said the same to Dan - that it’d be better to be on the ground than one the viaduct itself, the trains weren’t running on the day we went so fortunately we didn’t have to decide 😅 🚂
Wildlife park is my fave, it used to be a bus took you round due to foot n mouth and had the pleasure of the Zoology curator and a group of Scout it was amazing, the tree top trail is also amazing
We didn’t find the treetop trail! That would have been fun 😃 We really enjoyed the wildlife park, those reindeer were brilliant and the wild red squirrel was just amazing!
The universe has been sending me Scotland this past week or so, with several friends all visiting at the same time and now you were there too! As well, I've been binging the UK version of Hunted, which also features a lot of Scotland. It is a beautiful place, thank you for sharing it.
Your Day One overalls are adorable on you! We explored Leakey’s last September - for about 20 minutes we were the only customers in the store! So much fun to poke around. I bought my Scotland souvenir skein of yarn in Inverness.
Looks like a beautiful place, very narrow roads. The books shop looks wonderful. Such a great Vlog of your vacation. Thank you for sharing. I also am a Harry Potter fan, so the aqua duct was wonderful to see.
This has been such fun sharing your Scottish adventure with us all. The places have been so familiar and brought back our memories. We lived in Scotland and North Yorkshire many years ago and the low flying aircraft used to give us a fright. We were told there was ( don’t know if it is now) a corridor of air space where the low flyers could not be detected. So funny having outfit of the day……… love it. ❤
The aircraft were possibly from RAF Lossiemouth (Tornadoes) and they often do low flying training runs there. I think they are limited to certain times of the day. Edit: my husband has reliably informed me (ex RAF) that they are probably Typhoons and yes they are training for low flying, under radar detection height.
Such a wonderful family vacation , it is so beautiful in Scotland .I loved seeing that bridge , I am not a big Harry Potter fan but it is special to see it on your vlog . Thank you for taking us along on your vacation ❤
Loving the Scotland vlogs…been a while since I’ve been to the highlands…and just seeing the places that I’ve also been to made me happy 😊 also I’ve been scared by fighter jets as well…but not in Scotland…I was at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne (I’m an Aussie), and a F18 fighter jet went over…while I was in a portaloo…make of that what you will 🤣
Since you don’t seem to mind driving, there’s a wonderful castle near Dornie. Applecross isn’t too big but to get there you drive up and over some amazing mountains. Your Scotland adventure looks like such fun!
Enjoying these vlogs so much. You are visiting places I’ve never been to myself and I live in Scotland! We always went south to Galloway, where my father was from. Loving the daily outfits, very cute overalls. Cullen skink is one of my favourite dishes. “hoaching” 👍😂, great word, very appropriate. Your mother taught you well. Those jets you saw/heard may have been the ones launched to intercept some Russian spy planes which were apparently hovering around north of the Shetlands. 😳 I do hope you manage to catch a glimpse of Nessie, but she is very shy. 🦕
Thank you Margaret! I think you could be right about the planes, Dan looked it up the next day and it seems the right time and place ✈️ Scared the living daylights out of us 😅 Later in the holiday I had a gorgeous cullen skink 😋
I was literally just thinking "how strange they haven't seen/heard a fighter jet yet" when you said it!! They scare the life out of you, especially if you can't see them because they're lower down than you are! They use Scotland for low flying practice and I remember once being out on a boat in a loch near Plockton (one of my favourite places in Scotland) when one appeared out of nowhere, skimming the surface of the loch. 🫣
Thanks for this vlog. It brought back lovely memories. We stayed in a beautiful hotel on the shore of LochLong. My brother has done all the monroes. 284 I think. Xx
Thanks Andrea! Oh yes, I wouldn’t be without a GoPro, they’re fantastic little cameras and so robust, I was lucky to be able to replace it and I’m delighted with the slightly upgraded one 📸 😃
Thought you would make it over to Leakey's! Shame they got rid of the tea shop. Trivia - Tomas, son of the owners, conducts The Mahler Players ("Scotland's best kept musical secret", per the music critic of The Herald) and they always have their end of tour party in the bookshop. (Even more trivial fact - my sis is a Mahler Player. Everyone in the Highlands knows every one else. ) PS Authentic Invernessian weather - am not a huge fan of the town. PPS On the A9 you were buzzed by one of the Lossiemouth Typhoons - definitely not a hallucination. You get used to them flying over your head!
A tea shop! I can’t think where that would have been squeezed in?? That would have been so lovely. It was such a magical place, we really enjoyed our visit there! Brilliant fact about the Mahler Players! And thanks for confirming we weren’t hallucinating the plane ✈️ 😂
Our family are on the other side of Scotland on the east coast so she regularly travels up by train to stay with her sister. Our kind of active holiday isn’t really her thing 😄 We’re taking her to Spain/France next year though!
*Hello lovely people! Thanks for all the love on the first Scotland vlog :) Here's days 1-3 of our Scottish adventures, it's quite long as I wanted to fit three days into one vlog, so pour yourself a cup of tea, or a glass of wine and settle down for some cosy time in the Highlands* 💙

Love seeing Scotland through your lens, Ali. Totally agree - rocky, cloudy beaches and happy reindeer are the best!
Thank you for allowing us to join you in your holidays in Scotland, even though I now live on Vancouver Island Canada it reminds me of my family holidays in Scotland in the 60s.
You do the best travel vlogs. They’re too good to watch on my phone. I save them to watch on my tv. Thank you for sharing.
Oooooh Monarch of the Glen!! Yes please. That was a fun series.
The aircraft use Glencoe and various parts of the Highlands for practice flying. It’s a super area for seeing them fly past if you’re prepared for it!

Ohhh Loch Ness! The memories ❤ thank you for making me travel to Scotland again through your vlogs! The wildlife park looked so interesting too! Lovely vacation choice. I throughly enjoyed it.❤
Thank you for taking us on holiday with you to Scotland! It's such a beautiful place!
You’re very welcome ! Glad you enjoyed it 😃
Thanks!
So envious of you seeing a red squirrel- we tried to see them at Kielder and then when we went into the borders. Nothing! 🐿 xx
I absolutely love your travel vlogs. Specially up in Scotland, as I find out hidden spots "close to home". ❤
@thislittlewonderfullife - when were you on holiday? If last week then there were quite a few flyovers (twice a a day) on certain days for the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. As far as I know they would come from Lossiemouth.
So lovely thanks for sharing ❤
I love Monarch of the Glen too! We always watch the Hogmanay episode on New Years Eve or Day!
Oh my gosh what a great idea! I need to see if I can find old episodes to watch again!
This is making me so happy! Thank you!❤
I can’t afford a vacation right now so I am living vicariously through you. I could almost smell the fresh air when you walked out to your loch. Beautiful place.
I am so glad this was a little bit of escapism for you, the air was delightfully fresh by the loch, with a few midges too though! 😄
Hoping you get a vacation SOON.
We’re so used to low flying jet planes here in Snowdonia + We think rescue helicopters use our conservatory as a beacon to take a 90degree turn to land in the nearby hospital. Shame I didn't get there on time, so I could bunk down on the lounge. Great holiday!
What a vacation 🙌.

Hi Ali, there is an air base based in Lossiemouth so I bet that where the plane came from. Same thing happened to us in 2019🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Fantastic video! Love your new look, the sights, everything. The bookstore would be so fun, and you make Loch ness and Inverness real places for me - which is beyond cool. This is lovely to here Shari thank you! I love armchair adventures myself and watch quite a few travel vlogs myself 😃
What a lovely holiday so far! It’s so fun to see what you’ve been up to.
Great Grey Owl is also known as Lapland Owl... i know as i run a Brownie group and my leader name is Lapland owl! :)
Years ago, I walked the West Highland Way. All your photos and the places you are visiting bring back such lovely, lovely memories. We walked quite a while beside Loch Ness and I was absolutely certain that Nessie would come to say hello, but alas, she did not. Perhaps next time I visit! :)

Tipsy Ali 😂 This vlog was truly lovely.
Yes, thank you for showing us beautiful Scotland and sharing your family vacation with us. I want to crawl inside of this vlog and live there!
Loving the vlogs. Thank you for sharing your holidays with us.

Thanks Heather! Yes I think they had some lottery funding or something, it was really enjoyable and we learned loads 😃 🦕
Lilia is such a lovely young woman! She has such a delightful spirit.
Thank you for saying so, she really is delightful 🥰

Thanks Mel, you are very welcome!
We were up in Scotland in 2021 it was a brilliant trip, today you seemed to visit all the places we went to too. Oh yeah the planes were there too. xx
Oh that’s so cool that we went to the same places! Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, and that the planes didn’t frighten you too much 😄
This has been such fun sharing your Scottish adventure with us all. ❤
Wow Jill, what beautiful places to live! I hope one day we might live somewhere as lovely 😃 Glad we didn’t imagine the planes 😅
Loving your holiday..thank you for sharing it with us. I used to live in Scotland but have never been north of Aberdeen.💚
Aberdeen and the east coast is one of my favourite places on earth, so many childhood memories there 😊
Such a wonderful family vacation , it is so beautiful in Scotland .I loved seeing that bridge , I am not a big Harry Potter fan but it is special to see it on your vlog . Thank you for taking us along on your vacation ❤
You are so welcome, thanks for watching!
Enjoying watching your holiday, beautiful scenery 😊
I love your vlogs 😘👌 hope I can visit Scotland in my future
🤩
Thanks so much Maria! I hope you get to visit too! 😃
Loving the Scotland vlogs…been a while since I’ve been to the highlands…and just seeing the places that I’ve also been to made me happy 😊 also I’ve been scared by fighter jets as well…but not in Scotland…I was at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne (I’m an Aussie), and a F18 fighter jet went over…while I was in a portaloo…make of that what you will 🤣
😂 that must have been quite a fright!!
Love Scotland, looks like you are all having a fantastic time. Your sketching and painting is brilliant, very artistic.
That’s very kind of you to say Jane, thank you 😘
You are really making the most of your Scotland adventures and I’m loving them too. Maybe you had an airbase nearby with the planes you heard?
Since you don’t seem to mind driving, there’s a wonderful castle near Dornie. Applecross isn’t too big but to get there you drive up and over some amazing mountains.
Your Scotland adventure looks like such fun!
I’ll write that one down for next time we visit (which we most definitely will!) 😃 Thanks for the tip!
I think you could be right about the planes, Dan looked it up the next day and it seems the right time and place ✈️ Scared the living daylights out of us 😅
Later in the holiday I had a gorgeous cullen skink 😋
My husband and I sailed through loch loch on our way down to corpath marina in our wee 50 year old yacht. If I'd known you were there I'd have waved 😁
No way!! What day? We did see sailboats quite often! Also - what a beautiful route to take, and how wonderful to have a sailboat ⛵️
This looked like such a great holiday & having your own access to a loch is amazing. Also very jealous about Leckeys - would love to visit it
It really was amazing. I need to do a vlog about our favourite secondhand bookshops, it’d be a long one though 😄
Thanks for this vlog. It brought back lovely memories. We stayed in a beautiful hotel on the shore of LochLong. My brother has done all the monroes. 284 I think. Xx
WOW! That’s an incredible achievement! We were reading about the monroes whilst we were there, amazing! ⛰️
WOW! That’s an incredible achievement! We were reading about the monroes whilst we were there, amazing! ⛰️
It took him a few years to complete them. He’s been in a mountain rescue team (Bowland and Penine) for 50+ years. Now HQ based .
💛💛💛
Deeelightful! Ali, your new go pro gives beautiful colour and crisp pictures...maybe it was worth having to replace it?
Thanks Andrea! Oh yes, I wouldn’t be without a GoPro, they’re fantastic little cameras and so robust, I was lucky to be able to replace it and I’m delighted with the slightly upgraded one 📸 😃
Thought you would make it over to Leakey's! Shame they got rid of the tea shop. I agree about the tea shop, used to get fantastic soup in Leakeys…and there was a larger fiction section than it sounds like it’s got now.
A tea shop! I can’t think where that would have been squeezed in?? That would have been so lovely. It was such a magical place, we really enjoyed our visit there! Brilliant fact about the Mahler Players! And thanks for confirming we weren’t hallucinating the plane ✈️ 😂
@@ThisLittleWonderfulLife it was upstairs on the left as you walk in. So by the steps.
Is Dan left-handed? ... rock skipping ...
Very well spotted Julie! Yes he’s left handed, but he plays some sports right handed or ambidextrous, he writes with his left hand :)
Your outfit is cute Ali
Aw thanks! ☺️
Outfit looks very nice.
Unexpectedly raining😂😂in Scotland?
😂😂😂 I heard myself saying it as I was editing and had to giggle 😂
You should read the Harry Potter 💞📖💞
Why doesn't your mom travel with you to her homeland?
Our family are on the other side of Scotland on the east coast so she regularly travels up by train to stay with her sister. Our kind of active holiday isn’t really her thing 😄 We’re taking her to Spain/France next year though!
I live in Inverness & find Leakey’s bookshop very overpriced.
