Dream Team documentary from 2012 is really cool. Read the book too. Think about that team. Who was their weakest link? Christian Laettner? Then maybe Chris Mullin since he didn't make the top 50 all-time but he is a HoFer.
Dream Team consisted of 11 HoFers, and 10 were first-ballot and top 50 all-time. That's 20% of the top 50 on one team. That's crazy. Never again will see ever see this happen for one team in any other sport.
Compare to that 2008 Redeem Team. Among the top 75 (or 76) greats.
    From 2008's
    LeBron James
    Kobe Bryant
    Dwyane Wade
    Jason Kidd
    Chris Paul
    Carmelo Anthony
    Now look at 1992's
    Michael Jordan
    Magic Johnson
    Larry Bird
    Karl Malone
    Charles Barkley
    David Robinson
    Scottie Pippen
    Clyde Drexler
    Patrick Ewing
    John Stockton
Redeem Team had guys like Deron Williams, Michael Redd, Tayshaun Prince, and Carlos Boozer who I don't believe will make the HoF. Chris Mullin is the second weakest link on Dream Team and he's greater than all those guys. BTW, I love Mullin's dry humor here.
You can make a case all 10 of those first-ballot HoFers from 1992 are still top 50 all-time. While 2008, I don't believe Melo is top 50. Dwight was a huge omission from the top 75.
I wish they had cameras following Larry Bird and Patrick Ewing who were inseparable in Barcelona and who both would get drunk most of the time. They were The Larry & Harry Show. The unlikeliest friendship like Skip Bayless and Lil Wayne.

I admit I’m a little biased, having grown up throughout the 80’s and 90’s and really been into basketball. But the 1992 Dream Team really was THE story that summer at the Olympics. I’ll never forget it. It was very accurate to say that it was like pitting a sheep against a lion with all of those other teams. As this report said, the other teams’ players were many times more interested with getting autographs from the Dream Team players than playing. But it was really no contest in the games themselves. In that regard I suppose it was boring. But on the other hand, it was really entertaining, because it was like watching a slam dunk contest, or the Harlem Globetrotters with the show of dominance put on. I feel like the rest of the world has caught up a lot as basketball goes today. And while we have huge NBA stars today, I just don’t feel like the personalities and the over the top fandom are there like they were in the 80’s and 90’s. Those decades, mainly spurred on by Magic, Bird, and Jordan, among others along the way, really sent NBA coverage on TV and fandom through the roof. It was just an incredibly exciting time to be a fan.

They keep saying the Dream Team lost to the Select Team but he actually cut the scrimmage short before it was over so there was no way they could make a comeback (although they were not playing great at that point). Also, one player that would have messed up Daly's plan is Jordan so he couldn't play him much at all. That was very smart on his part.

I've been on teams like that in high school where we blowing them out so badly it really aint even fun anymore and for me if someone is paying money to see me play i always want to give them their money's worth..me being apart of a winning team is great and fun but slaughtering an opponent is usually pretty boring to me so i know the fans must hate it too
