Magic really does look up to Larry. That was amazing to see how much Larry inspired him to be a better ball player. You watch the NBA, but you really don't see how it really affects the players. Love this game, love Magic and Lary, but most certainly... I love this game
They both looked at each others box scores. They pushed each other as no one else could.
James Nickerson Magic has always said he wishes he was Larry. Magic has always lived life with a certain set of rules, and Larry just tells rules to screw themselves.
@@thepunditspundit1776 tbh
Larry seemed like the one who seemed to live with rules to everyone
Magic literally was having sex with everyone Everytime and even said to media that bimbo
James Nickerson Magic is magical, he knows how to make a bird appear out of he's hat. %100 Lol..
They both looked upto & respected each other! Magic says he wished he could say what was on his mind & shoot from the hip, tell it like it is. Larry said the way Magic is in public, the way people gravitate to him, he would light up a room. These men are the reason the NBA is what it is! The true goats
Love them both. Thank you for everything you have both done for the game. Best rivalry in sports ever.
Bird and Magic created something special in sports. Two amazing warriors on the court
Throughout the entire history of basketball to come, Larry and Magic will always be mentioned together.
So blessed to have seen Bird, Magic, and Jordan in there prime. The best basketball played in them days.
:)
That was beautiful. God bless and keep Erving Johnson and Larry Bird and their families.
The mold got put up, it's a shame!!! Kareem mold got put up too!!!

No one plays like these 2 did anymore. Everyone wants to join up & win. Bird & Magic is what competitive basketball is all about
they both had multiple HoFs on their teams. What are you talking about
@@Bayzus compare how many of them were drafted vs who just came to tag along for a ring
Pretty sure Magic leverage his college accomplishment to come to lakers I hear this before
Giannis comes to mind that’s about it as far as not wanting to team up.

So nobody peeped the AIDS joke Larry made in the beginning LMAOOO
HIV not AIDS
Seriously lol that was ruthless
Mr. Flu I’m surprised nobody else caught it 😂
Although maybe considering when they heard about him getting aids they might of thought he was going to die for sure and now he’s healthy and has more energy then most men his age
when? timestamp
Larry and Magic put so much into the NBA game it's unbelievable 2 amazing people with amazing talent they truly are what made the NBA what it is
These 2 were just different than everybody else, even the other greats. Their rivalry, their friendship and their charisma.....
Why does Larry Bird look like Pops cousin lol.

This definitely makes me feel old, if y'all don't understand that joke. Magic had a death sentence and he beat it. That's not a joke, that's a triumph.

Two rival franchises with the best players in the 80s saved basketball became friends. Even in college you couldn’t mention one without the other. I can’t think of another pair of parallel opposite who were so equally matched from the 90s all the way up to today. Thank you for saving the NBA.

KT Monte I think he meant it as saying he was glad that Magic didn’t die. These two have gone into history together, and they’ll go out together.
@@mikecotto1167 THANK YOU Jesus I'm amazed at how many commenters missed that! The joke is on AIDS, which for those of you too young to remember the world before treatment, was the scariest fucking thing you could imagine (and honestly should still be plenty scary).

Legends forever.....from college to the nba no players are linked like these greats
Man I’m lucky, I got to see these two in their prime when I was a kid through my early teens. Then as a teenager and into my 20’s I got to watch Michael’s entire career. Then into my 30’s, I got to watch Kobe and Shaq. I’m not a Lebron fan but I don’t deny his greatest. Now I’m watching Steph. And it looks Ike I’m about to enjoy 10 amazing years of Greatness in Luka Dončić. What a time to be alive.
Two great legends and icons that made the nba what it is today, Bird, Magic ....and Jordan the three greatest palyers EVER! SO MUCH LEGACY AND GREATNESS!

Larry mf'ing LEGEND never gets enough respect.
In heaven, I hope to be seated court side for Magic vs Bird, 80's Celtics vs 80's Lakers. No final score, no final buzzer, no clear cut champion; just an endless flow of the most beautiful basketball my eyes have ever seen. Cheers to that!
now THAT would be heavenly
Larry is and has always been an idol of mine. His work ethic was second to none. I love Magic as well, and I just missed this rivalry as I was born in 91, but you better believe I've watched every game of every one of their finals as well as their NCAA championship game. Without these two the NBA would have flatlined and this wonderful sport wouldn't have seen so many of the legends we witness today,
Kids today have no idea how absurdly good these two were. Two of the top 5 players ever.
Bird & Magic truly deserve that honor. Hard to believe it was 40 years ago! The fun I had watching Boston visit LA every year around Valentines Day for their West Coast trip. These were regular season games! Not to mention the Championships🏆Outstanding memories I will cherish forever
As a celtic fan this was awesome ...these 2 will be linked forever from ncaa ball to nba.
You can see how much Shaq loves his son, trying to groom him up to become a future NBA Star, wish to have a father like that myself.
Magic and Larry bird together means power at its finest !!
ava bear means Magic.
Two of the GOAT in the 80s. Their rivalry make the games interesting & amazing...
Magic and Larry...what a great duo. Thanks for a great decade of greatness. The friendship you share is incredible, a great example of how rivals can also be forever friends. Thank you both✔️✔️.
The sheer RESPECT that they have for each other in itself is ...LEGENDARY!!!!
Putting stats and rings aside. These two were more fun to watch than Jordan and everybody else. They saved the NBA and every game they played against each other was like a curfew for all BB fans. Even players from other teams used to watch them play.
I've said this and I will say again, a Larry Byrd movie is loooooooon overdue!

Thank you, Magic and Larry for the memories. For 26 years I have used a cane I named Larry Bird. Larry without you taking about shooting your back brace, MS would have beat me. Your words help me deal with life everyday. One really bad days I watch you play. Magic dealing with your disease you showed me to never give up, never stop taking care of me and to laugh. Magic and Larry, thank you for the memories, the games but most of all the life lessons Both of you are not only sport legends but leaders of teams and life. Thank you so much
Magic playing every position to win an NBA Championship when Kareem got hurt, and Larry stealing that pass and handing to DJ for the win against the Pistons, which led to one of their NBA Championships. These are the two memories burned and buried deep when I look back at these Legends. What a time it was for basketball; a revival really.
Bird and Magic marching into history together. Magic was right. God is good!!!!🙏
All you young bucks have no idea how great these two were. You can watch highlights and be underwhelmed but, if yo u watched full games of these two the you'd really appreciate how they controlled games and how they had superior instincts, iq's and competitive spirit.

Magic Johnson is one classy dude. Such an inspiration to all the kids growing up in the 80’s. I wish there were as classy guys around as these
Larry the greatest player ever and savage! He and magic are like cookies and milk. You can’t have one without the other!
Larry Bird had his weaknesses .... I just can't seem to find, even, one 🤣. He could slip on a wet spot on the floor, toss the ball before he fell to the floor and hit a three. Absolutely nobody had better court awareness than Larry Bird. That's from a Bulls & Lakers fan. Great to see LB and MJ show friendship and respect for each other. ⚘🏀⚘🏀⚘
Larry is one of the few superstars of the past who gives credit to the current crop of stars. Its refreshing to hear after all the "if i was playing today id average 40 PPG" talk
Magic is such a positive guy ;) God bless you Brother!!!
