I read some stuff awhile back that said this dream team play in Europe sparked the next decade of international basketball and giving us all the international talent we have today.
Jack Crist that was the whole point of the Dream Team. To expand the game internationally. David Stern was one tough customer but he knew what the game of basketball needed when it needed it
Seriously, no disrespect to Angola, but I would’ve been honored if I even had the chance to lose to the Dream Team. I know it’s different when you are competing in the Olympics, but that’s just me.
Watching it again for the first time in nearly 30 years, what's so underappreciated is how GREAT the USA team's defense was. Opposing teams couldn't get an open look at all.
USTeam should be great, after all US invented this game and again if a country of 320 million population plays against Angola, a country with a population less than New York City and with meagre resources and it ends up with just a win, the entire world sees the moral victory of Angola!
The 1992 Dream Team is one of the most magical moments in the history of humankind. Also, I wish we could watch today’s NBA games without commentary. Just the sound of the audience and the floor.
Agreed! These folks who own the copyrights to these games, somehow assume that people don't want to watch a 28 year old game in its entirety...well, they are sadly mistaken. Hopefully this changes their mind and they start posting more classic games in its entirety.
Best team sport team ever put together in an actual competition. Cant think of any lead lineup for any other team containing so many players in contention for being the GOAT for EVERY single position.
The only team that truly represented the US and basketball all at the same time with class, respect and joy. It was a wonderful story how Chuck Daly kept pushing them and their personalities and egos at the door and reminding of the fact they could lose in some fashion.
I can still remember the NCAA finals 1979 I think maybe 78 one of those, Magic Johnson and Michigan St. played Larry Bird and Iowa St. with my dad, miss him so, that was a preview of what was to come,of course in Michigan Magic already had his nickname from High school fame, he sure went a long way, Bird too MSU won the game.
At 43. I Remember how big of a deal it was watching the dream team. It's amazing to see how dominant they were compared to the rest of the world. It's also amazing to see how quickly the rest of the world has CAUGHT UP as far as talent, coaching and game strategy. Bravo to all.

I can't believe I just found this! Thanks.
I came just to see that play
Thanks. I replay it a few times.
awesome
It’s 3 straight possessions there Magic is an absolute boss
This is the best group of ball players to ever make a team. Most of the people from around the world were just happy to be on the same court!
i dont think we gonna ever see so many legends in a single team again
No. Just think, it could have been an even better team had they been smart enough to put Shaq on there instead of Laettner. Imagine 12 NBA hall of Famers, two of whom are likely the best ever at their position, one who many consider the best ever at any position.
Takeaway from this game:
-mj perimeter defense is the best ever
-magic vision is unmatched and his aura brings the team energy and ball movement up
-malone is crazy good and finding his spots and in pick and roll, no wonder he's 2nd in all time scoring
-barkley is just a beast, 6'6 and outrebounding everyone
Malone + Stockton were dominant in the 90s. Just imagine how ridiculous they'd be playing in today's game which is pretty much all pick and roll.
They also swept the ‘98 Lakers
Barkley is actually like 6'4 1/2 which makes him even more amazing as a rebounder.
A lot of energy from this Angola team. It must have been something else playing against these legends.
@@phoenixrising7777 I woulda been honoured just sitting on the bench all game against the dream team
this vid quality is crazy. also kinda refreshing without announcers and just hearing the game sounds.
Watching it again for the first time in nearly 30 years, what's so underappreciated is how GREAT the USA team's defense was. Opposing teams couldn't get an open look at all.
When they played lockdown defense in the NBA
USTeam should be great, after all US invented this game and again if a country of 320 million population plays against Angola, a country with a population less than New York City and with meagre resources and it ends up with just a win, the entire world sees the moral victory of Angola!
@@mosesm6040 excuses, excuses lolol
the way MJ played defense.. nice
That's because playing defense is foreign concept in today's NBA.
The 1992 Dream Team is one of the most magical moments in the history of humankind.
Also, I wish we could watch today’s NBA games without commentary. Just the sound of the audience and the floor.
When you're playing 2K with your little brother and he says "c'mon, stop going easy on me I can take it"
I almost forgot what actual basketball looks like! This is just perfection. Magic no look to Larry for the open 3 was nasty
Magics passing highlights were better than most players scoring highlights
Forgot how actual basketball looks like.. hmmm are you not watching NBA again?
@@samuelwinata3085 I'd rather watch the wnba
@@samuelwinata3085 Some people are just close minded🤷🏼♂️
It was absolutely FILTHLY
Respect to Angola team 48 to 116 , yet they kept at it. They appreciated the moment and opportunity to be there and playing for their country.
Can't believe after 28 years we have a full game footage to watch! It was a game back to my junior high school age.
I know right. Glad I'm able to see these legends playing.
Agreed!
These folks who own the copyrights to these games, somehow assume that people don't want to watch a 28 year old game in its entirety...well, they are sadly mistaken.
Hopefully this changes their mind and they start posting more classic games in its entirety.
1:06:08 I watched this broadcast live on TV in 1992. This was my favorite moment of the game.
🔥
Lavar had melo zo and gelo watchin this 😂😂
@@travisealy3512 bro melo wasnt even born yet. Its crazy how fast time goes
Air GOAT
Usa !!!
Best team sport team ever put together in an actual competition. Cant think of any lead lineup for any other team containing so many players in contention for being the GOAT for EVERY single position.
Tbh they had like two dream teams in the line up lol.
The only team that truly represented the US and basketball all at the same time with class, respect and joy. It was a wonderful story how Chuck Daly kept pushing them and their personalities and egos at the door and reminding of the fact they could lose in some fashion.
So, who's watching this because they're bored AF during the lockdown?
true AF
@markmac not that bad at the start, understanding what they're saying makes it even more hilarious
ME!!! Just because bored
Yo momma
See it live rewatching almost 30yrs later lol.
That pass by Magic at 47:52 looks like the ball disappear then directly reappears in Laetner's hands, crazy
the frame rate didn't stand a chance that pass
Now that's Magic
@Lucas Walker Stockton??
I had to keep hitting the benchmark time, in order to see how MJ threw the ball.
08:52 look at the USA starting line-up... not simply a team, the ALL TIME LEGEND!!
And Christian Laettner!
I like how the Angola coach keeps yelling at his team like, " We can still win. We are only down 40 points!!!"
We call it in the phils. Never say die
Magic was something else! Best PG of all time.
Most DEFINITELY!!
Biggest curry fan but yes,., curry can never reach magics greatness ngl
@@Rakith_02 I love curry but he turns the ball over a lot a lot..with that over the head pass it’s so lame
@@Skabanis curry and magic has a close turnover per game stat. Plus curry is more skilled but magic is just greater u can't compare those 2
@@Rakith_02 Say this again....lol tripping out yo mind
At 43. I Remember how big of a deal it was watching the dream team.
It's amazing to see how dominant they were compared to the rest of the world. It's also amazing to see how quickly the rest of the world has CAUGHT UP as far as talent, coaching and game strategy.
Bravo to all.
Ok Boomer
Ya, watching the dream team looks like a college or even high school team these days. We definitely look at the past and romanticize these players, just watching them makes it obvious.
There has never been a greater team assembled than this one and there will never be a greater team assembled than this one. Period!
True but everybody who knows anything about basketball already knew that
The only thing that couldn’t of made it better is if they had Gary Payton
ill never forget this team... i was like 17 at the time of this team.. they crushed everything
19:46 that pass from larry bird
LEGEND
WIZARD
I always loved how the opposing teams wanted nothing more than getting pictures with their idols
23:26 my two favourite players working together
56:15 "HES HOLDING MEEEEE" Patrick ewing.
Barkley out there for 10 seconds and starts running his mouth...gotta love that guy 🤣
Being in the Olympics and played the best player in the world is the greatest thing you remember for lifetime .
Magic Johnson was so much fun to watch play.
I love the swagger Jordan walks with.
People talking about dream team scoring but the way they play defense is insane

Why he wore those tees. Lol
I can't believe I just found this! I've been wanting to see this legendary Angola team for years, ever since this classic encounter, in which they generously allowed Team US of A to defeat them to help the underdogs build their confidence. The US of A team should be proud of their Olympic achievement but must not forget the contribution of the great Angolan stars of the early 1990s who helped make it happen.
29:55 look at how Jordan reads the movement of the players. He knew that number 15 would go out to receive the ball
Boo Adao my mother could have read that LeBron dropping 90 on this team
Yes impressive...just like any other superstar when playing against amateurs

Thank you for uploading this. To see some of the best players to ever play in their primes, very nostalgic and awe inspired.
23:28 that was beautiful
Went to watch that moment and right at the pass a commercial popped up lmao!
Magic and Bird making poetry on the court
I get goosebumps seeing this play, off the behind the back from Magic you just know when Bird lets it go it's money. Just awesome.
Magic to LB
Absolutely
It's amazing how close this game was in the first 120 seconds!
