Wow Lao! That pen is a stunner. I was recently gifted a Pelikan M800 that had been left inked in a drawer for 12 yrs. You know I’m new to these tools, and am catching up by watching videos like yours. I soaked the pen overnight, and slowly emptied it. I was careful. Once it ran clean, I drew up more water and let it soak again. I wont bore you with a story more tedious than actually cleaning a pen, but like you said, The piston really is something in this brand. And my pen writes like a champ. I had nothing to relate the 800 to, but this vid really helped me relate to the size and weight differences between the Pelikans. Thanks for the nuance
Yeahhh! So awesome you see the same thing I see in Pelikan pistons. They're just so smooth and perfect - the go-to piston filler pens! I prefer cartridge conveters for easier clean-up, but I wouldn't mind cleaning a Pelikan at all :D I don't have an M800 myself, so I'm happy you were able to find some way to compare your m800 with the pens I showed here xD Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences. And I would never get bored talking about all aspects of fountain pens haha! Thanks to your reviews, I got one today at a very good deal. Its surprisingly hefty. My Pro Gear and Platinum 3776 feels so lighter. But its so so beautiful.

I had thought this one would be about the same or lighter than an M800, but even the 800 feels lighter, so this is very surprising. So glad you got one at an amazing price.

I know about it being sold recently and the changes they’ve made to new production of older models of Souverans - I'll need to read up more on why it all was sold and the reasons for the changes.
This is probably more for the m800 folks who wanted an m600 size with the weight of their m800. I’m sure they’d be happy to pay the same m800 price XD because they write pretty similar I assume. Except there’s the big issue with the nib being smaller…and some folks might ask, why should I pay more for a smaller nib? XD I need myself an m800!

It looks like you already chose the Blue Dunes - That one is gorgeous. I saw it at the SF pen show so I would say if you love blues, that's the one to go with since M800 is probably the perfect size for a lot of us. The M600 still feels small, but I like it. I do think I would pick up an M800 more, but I just haven't found the right one for the right price just yet. One of these pen shows, I will find one! Let me know how you're loving your blue dunes!
@@KenchanKrafts I absolutely love the blue dunes- the larger size, the semi-ink window, 18k nib, color/chatoyance, silver trim, all of it. The m600 cambon was so very nice too, but it was a smidge small and I didn’t really love how the black areas were so fingerprint prone. I noticed mine attracted the finest lint too. It went back to Atlas sadly. That being said I will be open to buying more from the art collection in the future. Dromgoole’s has a nice sale price on the Blue Dunes if you ever consider it. It’s one of those pens you can’t stop looking at- they used some serious magic:)
Yeah I totally would have skipped on this! But the price at Appelboom was unbeatable for this! I’m so satisfied with its writing experience and how the light plays with the colors of this barrel! And the pen feeling luxurious totally justified the price for me lol!! It’s only about 60 dollars more than my black tortoiseshell so I’m satisfied!

Yeah, I think a lot of Pelikan lovers expect the quality of Pelikan barrels to have some translucency, so this pen was made after the new owners took over and stopped doing translucent barrels. But this definitely was a stance they took to make art to cover up the lack of ink windows xD and I think it's a nice way to innovate instead of only putting out non-translucent regular striped barrels.

Gunther Wagner is and was Pelikan, well not since the family sold the company long ago to a Malaysian consortium, who recently sold the company again.
