The man who played the suspect in the murder is a seriously good actor. Like I genuinely feel like that was near movie level acting, massive props to all involved in this video and the things they do on a real day to day basis.

As a Crime Scene Specialist, thank you for doing this! Our profession is all over TV shows and movies but, at the same time, we are often forgotten by the public and fellow law enforcement alike. Thank you for bringing the profession to people's attention and helping us battle the "CSI effect" one step at a time. 😊

How do you become a crime scene specialist? And is it different from forensic scientist?
@@Gshashika Hey there! Completely depends on where you live as to what the requirements are. I have a 4 yr degree in criminal justice/forensics and a state certification in CSI. Some states/countries/agencies require other certifications. Forensic scientists are different from CSI. In this video, the people doing the ballistics are forensic scientists that work in a lab setting. Many also have degrees in biology, chemistry, etc. CSI are field workers, going out to the scene to collect the evidence and document the scene.

I'm so glad you could reply :) Im from india and the situation is that there is not much "scope" or growth in the field of forensics is what people keep telling me, but somehow its the one thing that really interested me, I plan on doing a basic degree in biology and then moving to other countries for future studies, so now I'm trying to look for better opportunities/places to study forensics
@Gshashika if it's something that interests you, then go for it! While I can't speak for your country, here in the U.S., there are plenty of opportunities for forensic scientists and CSI alike. A masters in biology opens up a lot of options too! Hope I helped you get a bit more of an idea on how to get into the forensics field! ☺️
YUP! Im thinking abt going to uni for criminology, then working for the police for a few yrs to then doing a course with the police to become a CSI! This is the UK

That would be detrimental to her work. The quality of these would go down significantly and she would more than likely have to turn over creative control to NetFlix as well thus it would kill the whole premise of the show since her videos are more about quality than they are quantity. I say let her do her videos/shows how she does them now if she turns out 6-9 per year they are all solid and are great productions in their own right.

Hey Michelle, I’ve got a thing you might find cool to do… Glassblowing! Whilst it might not be as challenging as a marine bootcamp, it’s definitely not as easy as it might seem. It’s an art form so it’s different then most things you’ve done, but I think you enjoy trying something out of your comfort zone!
As a criminology student wanting to become a CSI, I absolutely loved this!!! It was really cool to see the process (even though it was a mock scene) and real people doing the job, it makes me that much more excited for my future! Well done on the video!

Omg wait I relate to Michelle when she said her first career choice as a kid was detective, mine was too and it was also because of Nancy Drew! I LOVED those books, I still have the full collection of them! I even carried around a little detective notebook with me and everything, when my church bookstore was robbed at like 11 I was convinced this was my big break and I'd find the thief. Understandably my parents let me nowhere near the scene, despite my protests lmao. I still love shows like Forensic Files because of that early love of Nancy Drew though!
My niece is nearly graduated with her degree to pursue this career. So excited for her, I think it is an amazing career.

This guy playing the suspect being interviewed was really good, especially the part where he said he went to the movie theater, but when he was recalling the name he said it more of as a question. As if he wasn't sure of what he was saying and was looking for affirmation. His body language as well just really sold it.
so true! i recognized a bunch of little signs that hinted towards his lying. the shift in demeanor from that to telling the truth is astoundingly well done as well

Hear me out, something like this needs to be a thing like Escape Rooms. A team shows up, gets a brief, and is dispatched to the crime scene to solve the mystery.

You would have to pay a lot if there's going to be an interrogation though, cuz they'd need at least three suspects to make it interesting (so you don't know who it is), and actors ain't cheep

This was a great episode.. brought me to tears thinking of actually being in that suspects situation.
I’m currently in school learning about forensic science and I find that it is really hard to explain to the people around me that it’s not like the movies or tv shows at all. Now I have an accurate video representation to show them!!
I was OBSESSED with CSI when I was a kid... even got an autographed picture of one of my favorite characters/actors, Eric Szmanda aka Greg Sanders from the orignal CSI Las Vegas that I still hold dear to my heart! (I also just seen he's coming back to the show?? OMG) Seeing this is so cool, and that little girl in me is screaming at how you got to do this!!

Public service announcement here. Do NOT speak to any of the officers in the interrogation room without a lawyer. Maybe at most you can say “I plead the 5th amendment.” But NEVER. EVER. Give any info about the case without a lawyer present. False confessions can and have occurred due to psychological pressure from the interrogation. There are case studies for that.
Central Park Five is a sobering example of this
Bruce Rivers literally always stresses this exact point. "Shut the fuck up and get a fucking lawyer." In the interrogation room, no one aside from your attorney is your friend.

When you were interviewing the ‘murderer’ you did outstanding! I was so caught up in the moment that I seriously thought you were an actual detective for a minute there! And to be doing all of that whilst training at a boxing camp? You’re inspirational girl! I’ve learned a lot of new things about the CSI process with this video, and I’m sure a lot of other people did too. So glad I watched entire 24 minutes!! This was my dream career as a child! I had so many books about Forensics and CSI when I was 11 that I was labeled “The murder girl”… I tell my husband all the time that this would be the only thing I would go back to school for!

I took a forensics class in high school and it really impacted my reason to study criminal justice in college. Seeing professional CSIs walking Michelle through a scene knowing the knowledge about crime scenes I have now is super cool to watch! I love this field so much!
This was by far my favourite Challenge Accepted. I've been a fan of criminal shows from a very young age as per influence of my mum and I even seriously considered pursuing a Forensics / Criminogoly career but ended up not doing it, which to this day makes me wonder how different my life would've been. Seeing this and having more insight into what really goes down during a crime investigation re-ignited my passion for this area. Mad respect to every single person that works in this field. It takes courage and resilience

I am incredibly mind blown and have a newfound respect for the CSI unit and those aspects of law enforcement. The amount of precision, attention to detail, awareness, communication, everything that goes into the investigation... just one look at that ammunitions/firearms room speaks volumes as to how in-depth the responsibilities of the unit are.. MASSIVE HUGE RESPECTS ✊✊✊
