    • @Rexhunterj
      @Rexhunterj 3 місяці тому +77

The soft hands things is a joke, if you moisturise and wash your hands semi-regularly they don't harden up or callous, my father used to verbally berate me for having soft girl hands.
I was born to use a computer keyboard, my brain is wired for computer programming, but that doesn't mean these hands haven't gripped bricks or carried logs, wielded a saw or a power tool. I've dragged branches bigger than me off a tree and broken them down with a hand saw into firewood.
My hands are still soft at the supple age of 30~35 there are only a few hardened bits that I couldn't get rid of without some extreme exfoliating with a stone. I still get the comment " you mustn't work very hard" when I shake hands with an older man, it's honestly really disheartening. I just wash my hands and moisturise for medical reasons (I don't sweat like normal people do, so I need to keep my skin moist and prevent it from drying out or it'll flake and turn into 'lizard scales'

I’ve worked for the railroad for 10 years now and it’s the most draining job I’ve ever held. Mentally, physically and emotionally. I spend days away from my wife, my quality of life is terrible because my sleep schedule is all over the place and the traveling I do makes it even harder. I come home after working all night to sleep while my wife wakes up to start her day. I sleep while she’s awake and vice versa. You can ask any person on the railroad, they will tell you the railroad “sucks the soul from you” because of the sacrifices we have to make to support our families. The nerve of this idiot to think he has it so rough.

And here I was thinking that animation was draining for your physical, mental, and emotional health. Then again, railroads are very long paths, so just building 1 mile of railroads has to be draining. I wish you the best, man. Hope you can spend more time with your wife.

I'd argue the good ones are more than that. Some are the modern day radio talk show hosts and can be entertaining when you're just listening without watching the game play. I mean, do you think they're making all those jokes and having those conversations with the chat when they play off camera? I doubt it.
That's why I think so many who try it fail. They think it's literally just playing games in front of a camera so they do that in almost complete silence with little to no personality.
But, yeah, are they more important than most other jobs? Nah, entertainment is a bonus after everything else.

i left highschool early, worked parttime till 18 then went to work fulltime ever since, im nearing 23 these days. I worked at goodwill(not long), lazer tag party host(2 years till i turned 18), then i started working fulltime at a gym overnight as a cleaner, very humbling the stuff i had to clean daily and disassociate to get it done and keep some pride(did this for another 2 years till i turned 20), then i worked a warehouse order fullfillment job for a year and a half, very stressful and all consuming, made it to a point where i was off the order picking lines and loading and unloading trucks with the finished pallets, walked around 15k-25k steps there a day 5 days a week, all lugging around a few hundred pound pallet jack behind me, paying attention to forklift traffic and other workers. I had to leave that job after some reoccurcurrent panic attacks, saw a video of a forklift accident and it scarred me to the point I was scared that something like that would happen to me, as I was often exhausted and I know for a fact the forklift drivers deal with mental fatigue as well, swapped careers to something less dehumanizing/industrial and im feeling better nowadays. It's insulting to hear him say his opinion on everyone's hardwork, I certainly would agree that being a streamer might be a harder job than others, but thats only if you are holding yourself to the same customer facing standards as most other entertainment jobs, I don't think this streamer is doing that, and at the end of the day, I feel as though in his particular case unless his spending is unsustainable, he doesn't even have to go back to work a day in his life as a streamer and would be set finically. I see so many sacrifices made by even the most below average humans in the workforce, even some of my worse coworkers and the worse people on teams I've led have a better work ethic, and viewpoint on working in general. Me though? i hated working and always felt pressured to be perfect at my job at all times, wasnt till i realized how unsustainable that mindset was, however led to the better mindset of just showing up and doing the best I can, with what I have. Dont wanna waste 8 hours of my life daily anywhere doing the bare minimum, complaining, and having bad attitude, might as well become the best i can if im gonna be there hahaha.

Sitting at a desk to entertain people or using programs to make your own content “WAAA SO HARD WAAA IT IS SO TERRIBLE” like how disconnected do you have to be from the majority of people. Dude probably makes more money than a worker and still complains about it.

the job I do ( freelance art and motion design) may not be as demanding as a physical labor job, but crunch time, stress, and going fast to meet deadlines is indeed hard, and very draining. You lose sleep, sometimes you have to do all night and day work, its hard work. Not as physically demanding as others but still hard work. If I could make as much money or more streaming then that would be amazing, but I love my art job, and although it can be draining, I still love it.
Basically: this dude has the easiest job and is complaining that its so draining. Bro. People wish they could be in your position.

I work a full time job and stream daily, multi hour streams mind you. Full time jobs that are 9-5 equivalent with physical work is far far harsher than streaming will ever be.

Good advice for everyone. Work life balance. Sign in/clock in, do your job, clock out and go home . For your own well being take PTO, take a vacation.

playing call of duty with your buddies from the comfort of your home in pj's and getting paid hundred thousands of dollars is alot more tiring than driving a semi across the state for over 16 hours straight fighting the urge to fall asleep behind the wheel lol

I was working full-time in the pandemic as a Govt employee under Environmental health, I was put in-charge of monitoring Covid 19 Vaccine empty vials and had to travel long hours to pick up all the vials (in sacks) in each Municipality. I also responded to a Typhoon disaster Late 2021 to early 2022 and got COVID 19 because of it.
Streamers who stay at home, play games all day/talk to chat all day saying their job is harder than me, a normal person, is beyond my comprehension. AND I AM JUST AN ORDINARY GUY, what about the hard-labor people?
What about the Health workers who actually deal with sickness all day?
What about the professionals with people's lives on their hands?

    Heres a lesson:
Don’t be an idiot and it won’t be hard.

Dude. When I got into retail, it was one of the happiest days of my life because I no longer had to deal with food. Once I got into a fulfillment center, I became even happier because I no longer have to deal with customers. I know being a streamer has some difficulty but it's nothing compared to what others go through. There are construction workers sweating all day. If being a streamer is so hard then these people wouldn't last a day with a real job.

I can understand how being an actor or another type of entertainer can be draining. But being a streamer? Honestly, Not as much.
