Vodka Taste Test #3 - Another 8 of the Best Reviewed

  • Опубліковано 29 сер 2024
  • I reviewed 8 more vodkas including Vikingfjord, Double Cross, Shevkoff, Exclusiv 1, Iceberg, Lithuanian Black Edition, Moscow Gold "Black Diamond Edition" & White Gold "Black Edition". They are all quality picks, but there were a few that stuck out as exceptional.
    If your favorite is not shown here, check my previous two "Vodka Taste Test" videos.
    As of 04-25-2014, my current bottle count stands at 1,322 total bottles. I have 847 different ones in the bar & another 475 in back stock. I've now been actively collecting for the last two decades and what started as a small basic home bar has transformed (with the help & understanding of my wonderful wife) into what I think is a pretty nice collection. Thank you for watching and sharing in my hobby.
    Cheers!

    Taking a swig of iceberg from Canada tonight with you. I like how you go into detail unlike multi million view videos where they have fancy expensive camera's and have "professionals" on. You're just a genuine man who loves his vodka. I also live in Ontario so there's always a steady supply

    Hi from Texas! First time watching. Enjoyed your simple vibe (picked up no snootiness on the palate lol). Your thoughts on Ukranian Shevkoff Black Ultra Premium (black bottle) vs Luxury Ultra premium (clear bottle) both Specs Texas. We have not tried the Luxury only black bottle. Please advise differences subtleties specific likes vs scratches you noticed in your opinion? Many thanx and Ciao!

    Shevkoff is my absolute favorite. The rep at Specs here in Texas told me 2 shots is all he needs and he was about 6'4" and 300+ lbs. Well...I'm 6'2" and 255 and tested that theory. He was correct, I took 3 shots and was toast. If not Shevkoff, then Tito's is just as incredible!

    Hey after seeing this one, there was one vodka that I kind of missed. It's a low-price vodka (about 18 euros) but it has a really really nice bottle (in my opinion) and I really wanted to know how you would review that one. I'm talking about Pravda (I really like the name as well).

    The only vodka that has ever made me sick is that White Gold Black edition. Any reason why? I tried it twice. The first time I thought I had too much of it and didn't blame the brand. Months later I tried again because I actually did like it. I only had half of a small glass on ice and both times I was ill for days after. What is in it that I should be avoiding? No other liquor of any kind has ever done that to me before.

    • @LiquorHound
      @LiquorHound  5 років тому

      That's odd, but maybe there's something in it (most likely fusel oils, or additives) that your body is allergic to or doesn't process easily. Certain countries allow small amounts of additives like glycerol, citric acid and sugar to help with the mouthfeel and drinkability. Cheers!

    • @chaseyoung331
      @chaseyoung331 5 років тому

      @@LiquorHound Thanks for the reply. I thought either there must be something different or special in it that my body doesn't like, or it's making lots of people sick. I'm not allergic to anything -- that I know of. If no one else is having a problem, it must just be my system/body that doesn't like it. I've tried many others that I thought had the same basic stuff and nothing like that happened. Weird...

    Can you try Zyr Vodka? It's crazy you said Exclusiv 1 would beat alot with it being 10 dollars lol. That's how I know you're objective and not some elitist. I was wondering if you would recommend Heavy Water over Enchanted Rock? I found them both and I'd rather try just one.

  • @ospray911
    @ospray911 10 років тому

    I have a good idea. Why don't you bring in a very common cheaper alcohol that everyone is used to so that we have a basis of what you are comparing to.

    • @LiquorHound
      @LiquorHound  10 років тому +1

      When I sample a vodka, I'm basically noting any flaws and then taking the positives of it and seeing how those add up in comparison to some of the best vodkas I've had to date (Jewel of Russia Ultra, Beluga Gold Line & Kauffman Private Collection '05 come to mind). I also take those vodka notes and compare them to what I feel my "perfect" vodka would be. Which would be one that is silky, soft and creamy, with a subtle malt or vanilla, no noticeable "rubbing alcohol" but with a touch of warmth. Depending on the base ingredient, it may also have a rich grain note that intermingles with those other flavors, but either way it would have a long, non-drying finish. Now I may never find that vodka, but I think everyone has an idea of their own "perfect" spirit.
      Of course you can simply pick the "common vodka" of your choice from either of my previous two Vodka tasting videos to see where they stand with me (Ciroc, Grey Goose, Ketel One, Absolut, etc...).
      Cheers!

    Best Vodka - Heavy Water from Sweden, any Russian Standard from Russia, Dry Fly from Washington, Reyka from Iceland,
    Oryza from Louisiana. the best vodkas are distilled from grain - wheat, rye, barley, rice, any combination thereof.
    corn and potato vodkas can take a hike. Sky, and Titos, are forgettable.
