My Vodkas

  • So I got around to shooting my vodka collection today (11-18-11). While I don't have a huge amount of them, it's a good starting point. Now if you're just starting a collection of your own, vodkas are where I'd begin. More than with any other type of spirit, bargains in price and quality can more easily be found here.
As of 8-11-2012, my current bottle count stands at 888 total bottles. I have 540 different ones on the bar & another 348 in back stock. I'm a Certified Specialist of Spirits and I've been actively researching & collecting for the last 18 years. What started as a small basic bar has transformed (with the help & understanding of my wonderful wife) into what I think is a pretty nice collection. Thank you for looking and sharing in my hobby.
    Cheers!

Imperia's quartz filtration is actually pretty common. They use a medium of packed, specifically sized quartz crystal grains as a filter and force the spirit through it to remove particulate matter and impurities. It's very effective.

Boy you weren't lying about the Rokk. That is some very good stuff. About the smoothest I have ever tasted. Thanks again liquorhound. The Ransom Old Tom is pretty good too. Nothing like I have ever tried before being a london dry guy. Thanks again and keep the videos coming.

The one thing I notice is that my ultimate decision is based on how well a vodka gets along in a cocktail.. Svedka is an example of a vodka that left a great impression straight, but was really off-puting in the mixed drink. Ketel One came off really boring straight, but was the second most neutral I've had mixed.
Blavod gets top points for the fun gimmick, but also because it's decent straight, and as good mixed (maybe better) as Ketel One. Russian Standard is my favorite straight so far.

Definitely give some of the Vincent Van Gogh vodkas a try some time. I didn't like vodka until I tried it... Also I agree completely about kettle one... It smells, tastes and is about as smooth as rubbing alcohol...

Cool. I wondered because I'm trying to think of which vodka I should pick up next, I like to expand on things rather then sticking to one thing. Mostly I was thinking either Glacier, Tito's or Russian standard. Though now I'm really considering Imperia. I saw this video thinking I'd find something better then all three and it did just that. So thank you for opening up more vodka options.
Cheers to you as well. :)

I agree with Ciroc as one of the top spots. Even though P Diddy markets it, i find the taste worth that kind of representation. It's definitely my favorite

Vestal's potato Polish vodka is pretty much all I'll drink these days. The unfiltered vintages are rather spectacular. I've tried the 2005 Kauffman and the 2009 Karlssons, but have to say Vestal wins hands down.

First off I love your videos. Very informative and I think I've seen them all now. I am a college student and was wondering what are some great value, cheap alcohols? I just bought some of the Costco brand stuff and that was $20 for a liter in some and 1.75 in others and seems pretty good.

love this review i got a reasonable vodka collection, some of the vodkas i have are snow leopard vodka from poland, and a couple of new zealand vodkas you may be interested in trying, broked shed vodka very nice had a brown sugar/toffee aroma, and 42 below vodka which is a bit harsher but also very nice,if you can find them give them a try i think you might like them and be a good addition to your collection.

I just saw it, the bottle reminded me a bit of the gran patron burdeos which is a cool and sexy looking bottle. The Kauffman bottle has a sleek looking designed too, looks like a cologne/perfume bottle. I'll await for your collection to get those other two to hear about this showdown. Was the HDW CLIX a holiday gift?

Love vodka but getting drunk can do that to you but that's the fun part. I've heard there is a new vodka with 0% alcohol. Sounds like a bit of nonsense to me
    TheTray89
I love the Russian Standard Imperia, so very smooth, I did not like tito's when i tried it.
    Artamis2010
@LiquorHound Nice and crazy collection, thanks for sharing it. You should add "Russian Standard" (русский стандарт), "Beluga" and "Zubrowka" to your collection (If i didn't miss it, but I think you don't have these one). To my opinion they surpass "Greygoose", or "Imperia" for example (largely). But as you said here is a personal point of view.
