……and that’s Ruby Rose 3 sorted then 😉. Beautiful boat mate.
When will we see the Ruby Rose review of the Passage-maker?
I was waiting for that comment - I thought, there's their next boat. 😊
Congrats cant wait to go sailing with you guys.. Ruby thank you for your advice and video
Wow 🤩 it’s just beautiful - thanks Sailing Ruby Rose for filling us in on this incredible boat
Seriously a beautiful boat and was a major contender for us. We just couldn’t sit and wait for a new build. Maybe in a few years 😬😬😬
Well done, Seawind !!! Nha Trang was my beautiful hometown…Saigon is a good old place for me too. Hoping one day, I would talk to you guys about building my own cat !! Godspeed indeed !!! Nothing but love !!! ❤️❤️❤️
Very well done, I'm impressed byt the content and editing. It's direct and to the point and covers all the interesting changes. Thank you.
So relieved to hear you have kept the daggerboards. My dream is still alive!!!🤓
Awesome video!!!
maybe next time have the camera man show us what you are pointing to .. they were fixated on you.
That was so irritating. Such a beautiful boat, probably one of the best on the market today. They went to all the work of making this video and then fail to use professional camera and production team.
@@hubbards I just don’t get the designs of Seawind, so sorry will kindly disagree with you. Let’s start, what I love about them is quality of build - that’s top notch.
That said, in my opinion, they need to work on their design. For me probably the most important space is the back cockpit - that’s where we spend most of our time, good or bad weather with good enclosure that can easily open and close. So cockpit and helm stations need protection. Here is the 1st gripe, the gap between the cockpit roof and saloon roof, two roof configuration if you will - why? More areas to close off, more areas for wind and rain to come in - just not a fan of the two roof setup - and it just looks old school. I assume they need this gap as the helm stations are very low. And that’s gripe 2: I love a slightly raised helm (not fly bridge) of say Leopard/Fountain/Lagoon), I feel I have great all round visibility and never seem the need for two helm stations. I can see everything from my perch (Lagoon 400). Where as the Seawind helm stations are very low, they don’t have that visibility -doubt you’ll see the port bow from starboard helm. Therefore you have to change helm stations to see the other side and therefore needs the gap in the roofs to see forward. Seems like a crazy approach to me.
Also, with the helm stations located mid cockpit, it just blocks views from the cockpit - essential for those sundowners.
And then you have to have to have two helm station enclosures, this reduces the surface area of the cockpit roof, so less protection. Would like to see how this boat will look with cockpit and dual helm station enclosures and their roofs. Just can’t see an elegant solution - feels like these are massive add ons rather than part of the design. Essentially now having 4 different roofs!
Finally, the other problem of dual helm stations: you can’t have all lines running to two helm station. So one helm is secondary: takes up lots of space for the very occasional use as all lines just run to the primary helm. Sorry but that is very valuable realestate you occupy for occasional use.
Just don’t get this design. Sure for some this is a great solution. For me unfortunately it just not practical. I feel they are great boat builders, have great boat engineers but the architecture is not there. Many happy sailing days to those who love and own them.
@@aeasthouse316 Good points. I'd love to see a video of someone behind the helm in a driving rainstorm.
@@RobertPWills Their out there. Try looking. Its not a problem (well, no more of a problem than it is on any other boat).
You need the full set of clears. So, it takes a few minutes to setup. The advantages out way the disadvantages INHO.
@@aeasthouse316 Dont agree. Having your hair out in the breeze is exhilarating. There are full clears for the rainy days or driving though a storm.
There’s lots of great info here. I had a good look at the other model at SCIBS a couple of years ago. These changes seem to address issues in a very innovative way! Thanks for sharing. 😎🏖🌴☀️🇦🇺
Looks great ! Some important upgrades / improvements, increased payload 👍
Excellent! Will be seeing similar changes to the other models soon? 1260?
Cool
All well and good, you about sold me over the 1190 sport! But.. where's the retractable outboards lol
I'd like to hear him talk about how that compares to the 1190 sport. It's those two I'm looking at. If the passage maker could be outfitted as shaft drive Bell marine electric motors
Your finally getting it....YOUR CRUISING....NOT RACING....CRUISING & you MUST have a reasonable pay load ability....IT'S YOUR HOME....you have your luxuries....so WHEN you get caught IN IT....& YOU WILL....NO BIG DEAL....& don't be arrogant enough to say you won't , that's bullshit....WHAT A BEAUTIFUL BOAT it has many of the features mine has when l built it back in the 90's out of 100% epoxy , but the Modern building materials are BRILLIANT....much stronger / lighter. Dreaming free so l have my hit list for my new venture....never say never....cheers
🥂🍻🍹🌊⛵🗺✈🏝⛱ A luxury catamaran was built in Saigon, Vietnam. Love it!
Lots of good improvements and practical ideas implemented. Shame that you didn't take the opportunity to modernize the salon a la the 1370 (and Balance Catamarans, etc.), improve the sightlines through the salon, etc., but then I suppose the idea with helming the 1600 is to look over and around the coachroof, not through it like the pilothouse catamarans.
Agree that more length and beam will work better for more heavily loaded cruisers. If the wider beam is effected below the waterline much, it can't be as performant as the previous narrower design, if frontal area through the water increases, though added length helps too. So maybe similar performance at medium loads and better performance at heavier loads for the updated 1600?
In general, these changes make sense for cruisers, which is presumably a larger market than racers.
*IMPRESSIVE on the initial look, it looks right bigger or LEGIT in volume and fights the inherent design flaw of a smaller cat to porpoise up and down. The previous-gen looks a little tight TBH.*
Fantastic improvement. Any chance we could see the cockpit enclosure?
Two things 1 it seams difficult to attach the bridal.
2 wetted surface is determined by hull shape and Weight of vessel and load it's carrying
Awesome..
Nice boat
Any chance we'll see the Passagemaker at the Annapolis Boat Show in October? Plus now I wanna score a Seawind shirt!
Thanks for the video. Will this replace the existing 1600? Is the pricing the same?
What is the price of the previous 1600?

What's the lead time right now?
The helm positions with the 1600 Passagemaker are not as protected as those on the new 1370. Like the previous 1600 version, the bimini on the Passagemaker is too low. Only short people can stand at the helms below the bimini. When a tall person stands outside the bimini at the steering wheel, he can bump his head if he does not lower his head when entering. That is a potential safety issue. I am surprised that has not been corrected.
How many cabins ?
Is this the same model for Ruby 2?
I think Ruby 2 is going to be the 1370 model.
Is the wood decking around the catwalk no longer an option?
See, Nick and Terysa should have waited a few months for this! LOL This would have been the perfect Ruby Rose II!
@@TheBelrick they did. They purchased hull number two of the 1370. Hull number 1 has just come out of the molds, so Ruby Rose II should be in the layup process, at least.
@@GaryMCurran The 1370 and older, but revised 1600 are different models. Ruby Rose is getting the newer design, a 1370.
@@LoanwordEggcorn oh, I know. I was just having a bit of fun, I'm sure they will look at this video and maybe see the comment. The 1370 will be perfect for them, I don't think they need a 1600, but a little razz once in a while doesn't hurt, either.
Those helms are going to be pretty wet
You can steer it from inside too.
@@gbsailing9436 Would be nice to get a look at one, but they don't tend to show them much in Australia, you have to go to yankland to see one.
@@shanevillis4079 Check out the YT channel Sailing Ruby Rose. They do a comparison of 18 or 19 different catamarans. and then get the VIEWERS to make a choice based on their discussions of what was reviewed in each video. The 'viewers' chose the Seawind 1600 as the best in class! They do an extended review of it in that series and can be viewed on their channel. You can view the interior there.
@@gbsailing9436 yeah I watched it when it came out
@@shanevillis4079 Ah ok.👍
