For most countries you can get it on Amazon. However if you can't get it on Amazon on India you may have to contact your local video/photo retailer and see if they can get it. Most Pro camera stores have accounts with Boya and can source their products.
I haven't tested it with IG live but I would thing that it would work as once plugged in all audio and video apps should recognize the microphone. To hear the audio you would need to get something like the Belkin RockStar 3.5 mm Audio + Charge adaptor which has a lighting port to lighting port + 3.5 audio input. This will allow you to plug both the microphone and a set of headphones to monitor your audio. I haven't tested any of it but this is what you need in terms of hardware.
@@Touchtechnologyreview 6. Can I use the Belkin F8J212 with a set of 3.5 mm headphones and a set of Lightning® headphones? No, the Belkin F8J212 lightning port only supports power.

@@Touchtechnologyreview Yes it’s was pretty good and spiked my curiosity. FWIW it was 1 of your audio processing videos that originally incentivised me to sub to your channel. I’ve remained glad I did ever since. 🍻
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed the review. That would be amazing if it could do that but I have tested and I'm afraid it doesn't work. Hi, thanks for the review. I’m planning on buying this mic to record UA-cam videos using my iPhone’s camera app. Should it work just fine for that purpose? Would I need to download an external app to adjust the mic’s levels or input gain? Thanks.
Yep works just fine with the built in camera app. So no need to download any other software. Plug it in first then open the app to make sure it is recognised by the app. To play back and hear unplug the mic and listen through the iPhone speaker or with a set of headphones to check the audio.
@@Touchtechnologyreview awesome. Glad I came across your review. I’m just starting out making UA-cam videos, but was considering some much more expensive microphone options before settling on this one. For someone just starting out, I didn’t want to spend a fortune on a mic so this is perfect.
@@swishtherapy295 Yeah its very much comparable with the more expensive options in terms of overall quality and sound. The main thing with a lav mic is that it gets up nice and close to your vocals and can help isolate them from the background. Will make your videos sound much cleaner and give presence to your voice.
The only way I know to do it is via checking the browser source code of the youtube video. Here's how: Open video page in computer browser. Press CTRL + U or Option + Command + U for Mac. Run a search over the code for the word category. You will find category name in the search result e.g., "category\":\"Howto \\u0026 Style\" .
Thanks man. No drop off at all. No cracking but you may hear some rustling in this recording if you put your headphones on, it’s only minor, but it was caused by the lapel rubbing against my collar. Could take care of it with better microphone placement.
Sure thing. When you plug it in it is recognised by iOS as the audio input. So if you open up your camera app and start recording video it will use the microphone for the audio of that video.
Yes in my opinion it is. However that being said if you are filming really close to the iPhone in selfie style the iPhone mic is so close that it sounds pretty good. However once you step back a few steps over 1 metre away the audio gets worse. If indoors you will get a lot of echo and outdoors too much ambient sound. This is the main advantage of the lav mic that it always remains close up to your voice and this makes a big difference.
Even though it might show up as headphone, it should still work. Try opening up the voice memos app and plugging and testing the recording. Let me know if it works.
Hello, Thanks for the video. Connecting the Boya Mic to the Iphone definitely improves the sound when we speak in a conference call. However, we do not hear the voice of our correspondent. Can a wireless bluetooth speaker be used in that case for the incoming sound? I have tried with one but it does not seem to work. Any advice?
Yeah that is a problem when you plug the mic in to the iPhone it hijacks the audio port so you can't monitor the audio. There are microphones that have an audio output that let you plugin headphones too.
If you are using a video camera or iPhone only and it is placed 1-3 metres away it will have a lot of echo, so you'll notice a massive difference when you use a lav mic as it will always remain close to your voice(thus reducing echo) even when you move the iPhone back up to 3 metres away.
@@Touchtechnologyreview Brilliant thanks mate! Just bought one!! Excited haha. Channel has been going for years and never had one! New office has made the echo real bad!
Yes for sure. It will sound way better than iPhone or GoPro audio as it puts the mic up close to your voice allowing it to stand out over the engine and road noise.
