chris o o now right? It's that 60s kind for cute tune and the way she emphasise it - Bette can't really sing but that's what I love about it. Also the way she's swinging her skirt so sweetly just having fun at the end! So good! She cracks me up!
She might not be Julie Andrews or Barbara Cook but there's a need for raspy, crackly singing voices. AT least she's in tune. They are perfect for some styles and songs.
Denise Spurlock She was the one who was the breakthrough with the age barrier actress and proved that an actress only gets better with age. She was tough and hard as nails and had a sense of humor and a bigger heart than people have given her credit for. Hell, you had to be very strong and tough in those days in Hollywood if you were to survive. She may have had her quirks about her but it isn't like she didn't have a reason to have them. It's such a shame about B.D. and her. Regardless of what B.D. has said, she did love her mother but B.D. never had to raise a child alone and go up against the Big Boys of Hollywood and I doubt she really ever had to fight for very much. Her and Joan Crawford could have had a great friendship, I think, if the studios had not turned them against each other. They seemed to do that with the women more than the men, I guess they got a kick out of it or something.
Absolutely correct. When other actresses of her generation ages they fought it tooth and nail and more or less became actual "Baby Janes." She moved on to roles that fit her age and worked almost until the day she died
I agree with Shannon R. Both of these women were born Aries. That’s about 1 of the toughest signs out there. Ask ANYONE who deals with an Aries. Plus, they may not have been the most beautiful women of their day but in their younger years, believe me, they had their suitors! Being Soo Famous and good looking in your youth makes it triple hard to come down to earth and realize it’s all gone...the attention, the admiration of both men and women and what was so important in life has left you. Think what an impact that has on a psyche. How far that is to fall and do it in the public eye. I personally LOVED watching these women! Through the books, the tv smears, all of it. They were honestly trying to do their best. Because we can scorn Hollywood but look who rules the wave! If it wasn’t for the “Hollywood Hype” and the Hetta Hoppers of the world, oh and let’s NOT forget the money machines: Goldwyn, Meyer, and his Pals, they might have died happy. Or maybe felt some dignity to age.
Lisa Murphy being born in a certain month has absolutely ZERO to do with your personality. It has to do with childhood, how you are brought up, the difficulties that happen in your formative phases, and what you learn as an adolescent. The fact that in 2018 some people still think the superstitious nonsense is ridiculous.
This is an absolute pisser! Clearly Bette's not a singer, but you can tell she knows it, and her attitude is "Who cares? Let's have some fun!" She's not of the rock and roll generation but in a tongue-in-cheek way, she's doing a song that appeals to them. I've always admired her fearlessness and her ability to put it all right out there! Way to go, Bette!
I like her voice. I think she has a "teacher's" voice so to speak. You know when your elementary teacher would sing songs with the class and it was fun, and they were never bad, but you knew they weren't singers in the strictest sense?

Bette Davis did not take her self seriously except for her acting when she had a role to portray other then that she was humorous, told it like it is and fought the Big heads of those studios who took her for just another actress.
I love Betty Davis, what loveliness when she was a young actress and what strength of character in later years. She was having so much fun singing it shined through her smile. Miss her dearly.
I get the impression from reading about her and listening to her on interviews that she wouldn't really give much of a care about being called "Betty," because that is how it sounds, after all. I'm not being critical, Tony. I just think she'd probably wave it off with a quick correction and a "whatever!" lol
The movie was making a mint and Bette had a percentage in her contract so she sold it in every way she could. Smart business lady as well as one of the finest actresses of Hollywoods Golden years.
I wholeheartedly agree. Jealousy is an ugly thing, even when it embodies someone has beautiful as Joan Crawford. Shame. They could have been good friends and made another million dollars from the picture if Bette had won.
I love Betty Davis, but I don't think Joan Crawford had that kind of influence to sway an Oscar judge. Betty was competing against Anne Bancroft that year who won the Oscar for her role in The Miracle Worker. I seen both movies, and Anne really did a wonder job playing that part.

Bette Davis is incredible. In this performance, she's the perfect combination of elegant, funny, beautiful, adorable, and gritty. Not many people have that many strikingly different qualities all rolled into one.

Ms. Davis knows she's not a singer but she's having fun. Not like these days where singers are always trying to send a message and not just have a good time.
I loveeee this...and Bette!!! :) This was all done for fun and Bette herself, would tell you that she is not a singer. Judging, by reading some of the mean comments, I guess some just don't get it...and you can see that the 'likes', wayyyyyy out number the 'dislikes'. Anyway, Bette had a great sense of humor and I sure wished I could have met her. I loved how she pulled no punches and spoke her mind. Legendary actress and one of Hollywood's GREATEST! :)

I love this little song by Bette! I am amazed at the great sense of humor she had right up to the end of her life. Watching the interviews from the 80's with David Letterman, Johnny Carson, Joan Rivers, Bette was really funny, spot on and I believe very beautiful still

Love it ! This is the big difference between Bette and Joan...the former has a sense of Humour and wasnt afraid to poke fun at her screen image ! Davis demonstrated this humour before in Thank your Lucky Stars (43), singing "They are either too young or too old" and gets flung around in jitterbug dance !
She is so dynamic...so camp...so uninhibited...that dress almost looks cartoon-like on a woman her age at the time... even though she was never considered conventionally pretty by Hollywood glamour standards of the day there is something quite attractive that impressive about her she almost has a commanding presence that you can't look away from and her voice is one in a million
Bette Davis made a record in 1976, including the song "I've Written a Letter to Daddy' (sung both as 'Baby Jane' and then continuing as Miss Davis). It was put out on CD (I bought it for the sheer 'camp' value of it). When the album was released, Miss Davis signed copies for hundreds of people lined up around the block.
OK I havent read ALL the comments - over 1000 - but going through the first 50 or so, no one seems to know the tune (not the words..) is actually in the movie. First when Mrs. Bates is working in her garden (Anna Lee..) and again at the end in the beach scene. The instrumental is meant to be playing on portable radios in both scenes
Just saw this on Feud tonight,. So great. Susan nailed it. I'm thoroughly enjoying this series. Already missing the scenes of Bette and Joan making the movie. Jessica and Susan are doing an amazing job.
FUED literally recreated those days so perfectly down to the background and clothing. Not just here but all of it.....Hollywood changed so much , it's in major decline...... can't beat old Hollywood and real actors and actresses not the crap we have today...
This song was a clever marketing tool for "What ever happened to Baby Jane " which oddly enough had mixed reviews in the early 60s. Both Bette and Joan delivered epic performances, but Bette was better at the end of the day.
If only I had a time machine to take me back to this time. I was born too late. I am quite aware of the sacrifices, I'd settle in just fine, thank you. I'd love to soak in the naivety and simplicity of this earlier time.
This is so AWESOME!!! I LIKE IT & THINK SHE SOUNDS REALLY GOOD. FOR THAT GUY WHO SAID THAT SHE WAS OVERLY CONFIDENT & HER OWN BIGGEST FAN IS DEFINATELY NOT TRUE. Bette Davis is probably the most beloved actress ever & like me, I have met many people that love her voice, the way she talks that makes her singing pleasing to hear even though she is not a professional vocalist. It is still good. Great to be matter of fact!!!
when the movie came out, Bette toured the country, appearing in theatres even in very small towns and they would have a competition among people in the audience who would find a baby Jane doll hidden under a certain seat! :) Bette while always being a GUTSY lady was a good sport.
I love every minute of this, especially their banter at the beginning. As for Bette Davis... she's one of the greatest examples of "she could do most anything." She had no fear. I've so much respect. RIP
This woman is not normal with charisma and think Hollywood told her she wouldn't make it they said she wasn't pretty enough only to end the up in mosr opinons the greatest of actresses way surpasses joan Crawfords.acting abilitys

and look at those eyes! Best actress ever. Bette Davis Eyes! BEST SONG EVER!
I love it ! Lol
She’s so comfortable doing it too !
My favourite film, and now I have a song too !
Love her!! I had her singing this as my ring tone (lol) but i lost the phone. love her and her craziness!!
I love this song ... it's been in my head for two weeks straight! Thank so much for posting it!!
I love her...timeless.
A legend, we will not see again RIP sweet Bette xxx
I love how she dances at the end!
This movie was one of Bette Davis's best movies! Delightfully evil!
Fascinatingly weird and weirdly fascinating!
AMEN TO THAT! Old Hollywood was Fantastic....Wonderful! It took real talent to make it there then!
I love the odd nothingness at 1:23!!! Classic!
There isn't much that Bette Davis couldn't pull off...a tribute to her talent and artistry. She was a true original.
She gave zero effs and sold the hell out of this.
"..it's more like Ch-hubby Ch-hecker" -Bette Davis
She could DANCE
She could SING
She could DO
Most anyTHING
Whatever HAPPENED
To Baby JANE🎵🎶
Hail Queen Bette -even when it’s ridiculous and hysterical she is still unbeatable
Miss you sooo much Ms. Bette Davis!!!
This song was a clever marketing tool for "What ever happened to Baby Jane " which oddly enough had mixed reviews in the early 60s. Both Bette and Joan delivered epic performances, but Bette was better at the end of the day.
I just have one thing to say about that: Bette was wonderful!!!
If only I had a time machine to take me back to this time. I was born too late. I am quite aware of the sacrifices, I'd settle in just fine, thank you. I'd love to soak in the naivety and simplicity of this earlier time.
Never heard this before. Fun! Thanks for posting.
I hope you've seen the movie!
My life is complete. XD
She is the absolute best! Even after all the years of watching her old movies I still enjoy them so.
Confidence and big big voice pulled it off
This is so AWESOME!!!
Bette while always being a GUTSY lady was a good sport.
One of my fave things that Bette did. My fave? Winter Meeting (1948).
