At the beginning of the interview, she handed the floor over to the interviewer by looking directly at the woman during the introduction rather than at the camera, which would have drawn attention to herself and away from the woman talking. Total class act. She showed consideration and had brains, style and beauty to boot. What a star.
@@cosettecopperfield8397 yes! I've heard stage actors refer to this as "shining your light" on the person speaking. By looking at the person speaking, the audience pays attention to that person. Total class act Joan was!
Others have written and portrayed such nonsense and foolishness regarding this Grand Dame of the Golden Era of Hollywood. Thank you for posting something real.
I loved that! She looked incredible. I loved the comment about Van Johnson. And her expression when asked about Clark Cable's height was amazing! She was still so beautiful... Thank you so much for posting this!
She had amazing genetics and didn't need any work done. Genetics aren't an accomplishment. Not sure why everyone falls over themselves to praise someone else's genetics.
Professional to the end. Love the Pepsi bottles on the table. It's too bad some have tried to tarnish her image after her death, when she can't defend herself.
Clark Gable was a great actor and good looking man in his younger days. They must have worked very well together to make all those films.Thank you for a very nice interview.
Despite what others say, this woman was and is the epitome of a Hollywood movie star. Such grace and class. There will never be another like her. Bette Davis? Her hatred of Joan just personifies what a class act Joan Crawford was.
I agree. Bette Davis spent 25 years stabbing poor Joan in the back, because Joan accepted the Best Actress award for Ann Bancroft in '63, which Bette lost. Bette never once bothered to mention that it was Joan who read Henry Farrell's novel "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" and it was Joan who thought it would make a great movie. It was Joan's idea to cast Bette as Jane and Joan who got Robert Aldrich interested. Without Joan, Bette would have ended up like Gloria Swanson, not one hit film after "All About Eve" in 1950. Bette's new lease on life was thanks to Joan and she never once expressed her gratitude for it! No good deed goes unpunished.
Oh, those few moments at the beginning (0:20-0:33) that were not cut are precious!!! To watch Joan noticing the dismissive "ok" from the interviewer and then giving her a long and amused observing stair from the side...riveting and funny to watch the reaction :)))
Omg i love this woman more and more as the years pass - "I hear you were named after Norma Shearer" - thats all she needed to say - you knew exactly what she was thinking at that point - she could get that though to you without words or actions - she was a class act for sure
Held herself with such grace, and yet also showed glimpses of her personality and wit in this interview. Loved how she was able to let herself a little loose. Thanks for this gem. :)
Wow... can't believe I missed this one until now!! It's a wonderful glimpse into the magnitude and grandeur of Joan Crawford. We also see a very frank, real human being, which of course, she was. We can see how naturally beautiful she was, toooooooo!!!!! How beautifully, indeed, she aged, with that glow to her skin that shows up best in living color.. Thanks for this GEM!!
love this -- it seemed as if crawford was trying to put the obviously a bit nervous interviewer at ease in the beginning, then she had a little smirk as the director called 'rolling', as if, here we go, dear, then she slipped into the crawford image ... confident, classy. i noticed too her constant eye contact while the interviewer was asking questions, then she does what i've come to notice as a crawford signature move, of glancing down for a beat, then snapping eyes back to the other person. loved those pepsicola bottles, haha.
I just adore this!! I’ve said to a great deal of people that witnessing Joan’s character on the screen and off during interviews, her class, her lady likeness, it’s really taught me how to be a gentleman. I so very greatly revere her work, her attitude, her class, and her charm. The legacy she leaves us all is such a gift, and so very many thanks to you for bringing these treasures to us!
This is miracle footage in color of one of the great movie stars of all time. Stare at her and find her loveliness. Joan is a star because she lets you find out in person she's gracious and beguiling. On the screen she's larger than life. She's unafraid to be the star, and her Charisma appeals to men and women.
Joan's spirited defence of Clark Gable's (highly debatable) stature was fantastic. Their affair, off & on, spanned three decades & he was the love of her life. But on another note - i'm digging the groovy pink paisley!
She was such a talent great actress. I wasn’t even born in that era I watch all of her movies I enjoy watching her movies reading about her. Such a huge fan
After viewing this, I decide to never look back for Mommie Dearest😆 Real Joan is charming, elegant and confident, and her voice is attractive. Especially love her reaction when being mentioned about Betty.
Highlights of the interview When Joan ask if Norma is for Norma Shearer (you know for the feud with her) And her expression in the Oscar question, her eyes glow 😍
Wow, this is fabulous. Beloved Joan doesn't seem too happy through this interview though - probably the same old questions. She had probably had to say the same thing over and over all day. Gracious and beautiful always.
Lovely! I so wish I could've met her. I was merely 6 years of age when this was taped, but I have seen so many picture of Joan demonstrating truly heartfelt affection toward children or young fans that it certainly would've been the highlight of my young life to have crossed paths with her at that time. What is also really fascinating to me is that she seems so utterly humble and down to earth. Priceless stuff. Thanks for posting these rare gems. The woman was and is a Hollywood icon for all time.
Would love to know what our Joan was thinking when Norma Shearer was mentioned lol when Joan asked if the interviewer was named after Norma Shearer and the interviewer said yes, I was waiting for Joan to say “that’s a pity.” Lol
So elegant. And I love the fact that working with Bette Davis on Baby Jane was her idea. She knew people would definitely go to see the movie because of her history of dislike with Bette. And she was right. People went crazy for that movie. Such a beautiful woman. They don't have many movie stars like this anymore if any.
Norma Shearer was also Mrs. Irving Thalberg. Joan Crawford had quite a powerful scene with Norma Shearer in "The Women". Margaret Sullivan is considered one of the great Actresses who we lost way too soon.
Still an incredibly beautiful lady. Such poise and class. She was a wonderful actress. If only there had been tv shows Ike Dynasty in the 1960’s . If there had then Joan Crawford would have been the biggest tv star in the world. After all she was one of the biggest movie stars ever!!!
Really wonderful to see Joan in this video of such good quality. Anyone find it weird that the interviewer had no idea of how tall Clark Gable was? Thanx for sharing this video!
The shade love the way Joan was looking her up and down right before the interview .then called her out on being named after one of her most hated enemies Norma.
I wish I could've been around back than when Ms. Crawford was alive. So classy. Another great actress/person I'll never get to meet. 😢. Rest in peace beautiful lady.
I’m such a fan of hers I love her so much! Such a beautiful woman and good hearted! I wish she was still alive so I could write her or tell her how much of a fan I am lol not creepy status just a normal fan who loves her pictures :)
I had no idea she thought so highly of Audrey Hepburn! She handled "...Baby Jane?" question very well. That's the first time I heard coming from her that she made the movie possible. I thought it was a myth.
JC just oozed Hollywood royalty. I loved BD as well, but Crawford really was a classier dame. I hate comparing them, and there I go comparing them. I guess it's inevitable.
She was a great actress, my favorite role was Mildred Pierce!
I love how Joan looks at others with such self confidence. Not even a blink. 💓
At the beginning of the interview, she handed the floor over to the interviewer by looking directly at the woman during the introduction rather than at the camera, which would have drawn attention to herself and away from the woman talking. I didn't realize how strikingly beautiful Joan Crawford was and that voice...wow!
She is mesmerizing; bold, provocative, outspoken, grand, classy, beautiful and is a genuine link to golden days of Hollywood.
I always liked Joan Crawford
She had a beautiful smile.
No matter what ppl say
Joan Crawford was a master of class perfectionism and acting in the highest Level ever
She had a beautiful speaking voice and made an excellent narrator.
Joan Crawford my favorite ❤️
i love Joan's voice!! it really is one of the most beautiful voices i've heard
Wow she's so beautiful!
Others have written and portrayed such nonsense and foolishness regarding this Grand Dame of the Golden Era of Hollywood. Thank you for posting something real.
SHE ALWAYS MADE SURE THE PEPSI COLA Bottles were showing!!! 🙌 👏 SHE WAS AHEAD OF HER TIME WITH THE “SOCIAL MEDIA” of that time!!
A vivid memory of past success and good manners.
Only wish more people get the chance to see her early movies and go decade to decade; Joan truly loved her fans and would so appreciate this channel.
Grand hotel is my fav. Joan as Flaemmchen is so precious, the queen of the flappers!
The subject was great as usual.
How I wish I could say the same about the interviewer.
She has a humbleness to her I was not expecting. ❤️
"SHORT?!"--I laughed out loud.
I loved that! She looked incredible.
I loved the comment about Van Johnson. And her expression when asked about Clark Cable's height was amazing!
She was still so beautiful...
Thank you so much for posting this!
I LOVE her in Mildred Pierce. I've seen it many times. She's amazing in that film.
Josn comes across as real, authentic and humble. A person anybody would want as a friend! Plus pure glamour
She’s in her late 60’s here and gorgeous! They didn’t have the Botox and procedures we have today
I was thinking the exact same thing.
She had amazing genetics and didn't need any work done.
Genetics aren't an accomplishment. Not sure why everyone falls over themselves to praise someone else's genetics.
This is one of my favorite Joan interviews. She seems very relaxed and comfortable.
I met her face to face she was so pleasant ,it was on a ship with her husband Alfred Steele.Pepsy Cola boss.
Professional to the end. Love the Pepsi bottles on the table. It's too bad some have tried to tarnish her image after her death, when she can't defend herself.
Joan Crawford was exceedingly polite and gracious. Came up common and built herself to exemplary class. Who would not admire such a person.
A real movie star. Classy, stylish, very well spoken. They don't make many like her these days.
Her eyes are beautiful. Captivating. Joan is and always will be a class act.♥️
JC was pure class and elegance..unfortunately no longer seen in todays stars
Even at this age Joan crawford was very pretty love the Pepsi bottles they each habe she was always advertising Pepsi one way or the other
Yes! I loved that there was an ice bucket full of Pepsi apparently chilling beside Joan. I would've loved to have that lady plugging my product! ❤️❤️
Of course with Pepsi Cola! 😃
I love her tenacity and strength. Marvelous performances too.
Clark Gable was a great actor and good looking man in his younger days. They must have worked very well together to make all those films.Thank you for a very nice interview.

Love Joan. She is unmatched in her combination of grace, dignity and good old-fashioned American gin. Thank you for sharing.
Even at this later stage of her life, her eyes were full of expression and soulfulness.
Omg i love this woman more and more as the years pass - "I hear you were named after Norma Shearer" - thats all she needed to say - you knew exactly what she was thinking at that point - she could get that though to you without words or actions - she was a class act for sure

Pure treasure and the movie stars Movie Star! Joan is wearing the necklace she wore the following year in "Night Gallery".

Glamour and class. The one and only.
This woman was super beautiful in the 1930's! I loved her eyes! I'm surprised how good she looks there in her 60's!

Few seem to know it was She who made it possible. Reading the book and she or her manager going to Davis. Quite remarkable.
Norma Shearer was also Mrs. Irving Thalberg. Joan Crawford had quite a powerful scene with Norma Shearer in "The Women". Margaret Sullivan is considered one of the great Actresses who we lost way too soon.
I was just as shocked as Joan when asked if Clark Cable was short.

Nope, no myth - it was made possible thanks to Joan. :)
What a personality! And scene presence. Her smile is unbelievable...
She had such a bottled intensity captivating
