What's so poetic about Incin is he is based on a heel wrestler, who are notorious for talking trash and taunting opponents throughout a match. This makes Incin's ability to tilt players so much more accurate, but if you keep a level head, play calmly, and make the right decisions, Incin doesn't stand a chance.
Skyjay's run at Summit perfectly encapsulates the character. He pulled off some crazy upsets and insane combos, but when he ran into Kurama, who wasn't afraid and flawlessly executed Mario's game plan, he had no answers either time.
I play Incineroar BECAUSE he needs to go for these silly callouts. No matter what character I play, I always go for some dumb callout just because it's fun and I get bored if I don't. Of all the cast, Incineroar actively rewards this kind of playstyle and I freakin love it. Also, I love SkyJay's disposition while playing competitive smash, all smiles and GGs. I can tell that he just loves the game, and does his best to not get caught up in the seriousness of the tournament. I aspire to be like him when I play.
Same here! I don't play Incineroar but I play Marth. I significantly improved after I quit focusing on results and started focusing on having fun. My Marth is now SO. MUCH. BETTER. Like, every time I play Marth and then rewatch my matches, I go "people think he's inconsistent?" It sometimes seems like Marth's tippers were shadow-buffed. I'm not trying to say I'll dominate any top player or anything. I'm just happy I'm finally good with my favorite Smash character.
Marth is definitely inconsistent against the smaller and faster characters His skill ceiling is also way too high and his investment to benefit ratio not as big Thats why no one plays him They did buff marth a lot since release and marth is pretty good i would say once you play perfectly But its just too hard to play marth perfectly all the time even after the buffs
Skyjay's attitude is, I think, the key to his success with the big cat. Watch some of his matches and you'll see he keeps his composure throughout but AT THE SAME TIME he still has an absolute blast playing, being all smiles and even occasionally posing like the Heel Pokemon itself. His positive perspective on the game and his balls-to-the-wall gameplay with Incineroar is the reason he's become my favorite pro Smash player to watch.
Yeah. Watching Skyyay made me more confident when being myself in tournament. I like to have a blast when I play, but in tournament I tend to get secluded and go "serious." I'm sure this was holding me back a ton, because I play so much better when I'm laughing and genuinely having a good time.
One thing that’s interesting imo is that he’s kind of similar to luigi in the way people say that the counterplay is to get him offstage and edge-guard him, but nobody actually wants to go out there because of the threat of being reversaled by green missle or alolan whip
I find it funny yet fitting that Incineroar thrives off of fear because his Hidden Ability in the Pokémon games is “Intimidate.” Props to the developers for making a Fire Pokémon that primarily doesn’t use fire so FIRE. 🔥
It also is funny that Incineroar is good in Pokemon for its ability with the support moves that it has, unlike with Smash where you have to play with thought to get the most damage or even take a stock by using your strong attack options.
Some thing that incineroar has in his advantage is that he forces his opponent to change their playstyle. You can't just recklessly spam landing aerials on his shield because of revenge. His grab range and throw damage forces players to not shield as much as they normally would or they will get punished for what is normally a safe option. Due to his revenge mechanics, you need to grab a lot more than you might be comfortable with.
Incin makes me realize how old ultimate is already, because he is from generation 7 of pokemon, and they are now on generation 9. Where has the time gone?
It's crazy how the pokemon aren't really popular in competitive smash. Though I see Incineroar quite a lot online now, thanks to Skyjay. Which is cool as I've mained him since day 1

The bread and butter combo for our favorite Cat. Down Throw, Forward Air, Dash Attack, Side Special. Works especially well as an opener to a game. His mobility is terrible, yes. But, when played correctly. he can also pressure the opponent so effectively, that they are constantly trying to get away, but because of his specials, especially his side special, can reach them almost every time. Getting a revenge boost will instill fear into any player, making them hesitant to approach you, taking advantage of this fear and adequate pressure can force them to make a mistake, mostly ending in their death.

Kinda like me in a way. My entire team has constantly been saying that I apply so much pressure to my opponent’s that it breaks them. One of my opponent’s in our team tournament quit for their entire team after one round against me. I scared them all. I was using Shulk and they were using Bowser. I took them down to their last stock in under half a minute. I still had three stocks and was only hit twice. That puts fear onto a team if that was their strongest player.
At this point I consider Furry Bait Cat to be my pocket character Slow in some spaces with a pretty terrible recovery but some of my favorite attacks and feels so powerful
One big problem with characters that are so slow like Incineroar is that they are forced to approach in a game that is very friendly to campy playstyles. Imagine having to chase Samus, Link or Sephiroth players across the entire map at that slow speed. That's the main aspect of this game that I honestly feel is not well balanced.
@@legrandliseurtri7495 Still, Steve is a trapper and has more tools to force others to approach him. Incineroar literally is alone vs the world. Him, Ganondorf and Dr. Mario, probably.
Great content, keep up the good work! Skyjay is a real beast, and a joy to watch. Just a little side note for content precision: Incineroar's tipper f-tilt is second only to Zelda's tipper f-tilt in kill power, actually. Both Incineroar and robin both are so fun to play, they may have th weaknesses but they feel good when working right
8:24 this is the rampardos theorem
Okay I don't know why I didn't expect the meme at the end but oh my gosh I did not and it was hilarious
After skyjays run I’m telling you everyone all the sudden has a pocket incineroar
At this point I consider Furry Bait Cat to be my pocket character
Slow in some spaces with a pretty terrible recovery but some of my favorite attacks and feels so powerful
Day ??? Of asking for Why Everyone Plays Samus
Vars: why no one plays Incineroar
me before watching:*cough* *cough* skyjay *cough* *cough*
One big problem with characters that are so slow like Incineroar is that they are forced to approach in a game that is very friendly to campy playstyles. Imagine having to chase Samus, Link or Sephiroth players across the entire map at that slow speed. That's the main aspect of this game that I honestly feel is not well balanced.
That's true.
Playing Incinoroar is kind of like playing Steve if he didn't have minecart and the ability to place blocks lol.
@@legrandliseurtri7495 Still, Steve is a trapper and has more tools to force others to approach him. Incineroar literally is alone vs the world. Him, Ganondorf and Dr. Mario, probably.
@@moviegametime3891 His main tool to force others to approach is blocks.
I think so many problems would be fixed if they brought back reflect parries like Melee
Great content, keep up the good work!
Skyjay is a real beast, and a joy to watch.
Just a little side note for content precision:
Incineroar's tipper f-tilt is second only to Zelda's tipper f-tilt in kill power, actually. Mario dies ~4% earlier at the ledge with Zelda's f-tilt compared to Incineroar's!
Well now I wanna play Incineroar
Alolan Whip without Revenge has more knockback than Darkest Lariat could ever dream of therefore his strongest special is Side-B
True to the original games, Incin’s greatest strength is intimidate
Great Video
Skyjay is my hero. Incineroar all the way baby
every time i see a incineroar online, they just spam side b, revenge and teabag when they take a stock
At this point, I'm wondering whether Duck Hunt is actually better than I thought or if they're so "why no one play's" worthy that Vars just forgot they exist.
