How to swap your winter tires - 2020 (step by step)

- Watch as I show you how to install your winter tires and avoid the $50 or higher charge at a tire shop to get this done! If you have two cars, you're saving $200 a year doing it yourself, and its convenient, too. Instead of driving to the tire shop, standing around and waiting, or being dropped, off, you can do this at home, without rushing, in less than an hour.
Don't forget to check if your winter tires are directional - there should be an arrow pointing in the direction of rotation
Good callout
Tell me your Canadian with out telling me your Canadian! Installing snow tires and having to kick the wheels off or use a 10Lb sledge hammer. Plus the rust on the snow tire wheels says it all! You also should have mentioned, most snowtires these days are directional and how to check for the sign on the tire.
Good callout re: directional tires
Super straight forward video, thanks Matt ! Bravo !
Glad you liked it! Thank you!
Like the vid. Straight to the point no talking much 👍
Thank you matt ❤
It looks like the video is cut off at the beginning. It starts directly at "4th I have a brush".
What are we missing for the first 3 items?
Watching a few tire videos, a few seem to have jack stands as a safety measure, good idea?
Never hurts. If you're going under the vehicle at all, it's an absolute must.
Where I live they charge me $100 to swap tires, so that is $200 per year just on swapping tires.... ugh. I may just buy those tires that are half winter half all season so i can stop having to spend so much money on swapping them
They don't work as well, ok at every weather but doesn't exceed at neither. Its safer to put the respective tire for the season for grip and safety. I'd just buy rims with the tires and change them home.
agree!
cant i just use my impact or drill to get the lug nuts on and off?
For removing them sure. But you’d need an impact wrench, not an impact driver. For putting them on, I wouldn’t do that.
Do you have to balance the tires
The tires need to be balanced yes, but you don’t need to to do it every time you switch them. The tires are balanced to the wheels, so unless you are removing the tires from the wheel or there is a problem, you’re okay!
This is just how you change a tire in general
You're not wrong
Awesome. Subbed.
What is the total cost of equipment I need to do this installation? Just the rims probably cost a ton
Rims actually aren’t that bad - $40-50 each(in Canada). Obviously the tires cost a bit more, but you aren’t wearing down your regular tires so In the long run, it’s a wash. The Jack was maybe $100, but it’s useful for other stuff, too.
@@MattonEverything6000 in Canada the winter rims/tires ARE the regular, so I don't see the point in cheaping out and getting ugly rust buckets as winters.
@@philmcclenaghan7056 Fair point
YOU CHANGED THE RIMS NOT THE TIRES...
I did change the rims / wheels, you are correct. But given the tires are mounted to the wheels, I changed those too😂.
Thanks for the watch and the feedback!
@@MattonEverything6000 nice, is that how you fix a flat too? put on the spare and its fixed...
