In the case of the flywheel, it is kinda necessary because it provides momentum keeping the crankshaft spinning instead of the crankshaft soley relying on the pistons moving the crankshaft
Usually 1 air and 1 fuel manifold. There are some instances where multiples of each can change the behavior of an engine but you wont need multiples in normal engines.
I cant seem to get my 5x5 engine to run(with and without flywheel) I have to press and hold the push button but it usually holds at 2.90 RPM until I release the button then it returns to 0. Any pointers or guides I can be directed too? other wise great tutorial Im probably just being dumb. Thanks in advance!
Usually you need to pass 2 rps to start an engine, but Ive seen that a heavily loaded 3x engine will require passing 4rps to properly start and then needs a higher rps target to maintain itself. It might be something like that where you just need to give it more air and fuel to maintain a higher rps.
Could be the engine rolling back into negative rps. I use a threshold for my starter condition so I had it set to low 0 and high 2. So if the engine was 0, 1 or 2 rps the starter would go. This meant if the engine ever suddenly got stopped or put into reverse it would roll back into -0 which is outside of 0-2. Not sure if thats your problem but might be worth looking into it.
Could be the exhaust manifold is on backwards or that there is no fluid port on the end of it. Its hard to say exactly without seeing it. But those are common issues.
Strangely enough, I have followed the tutorial step by step but by the end the engine won't start. It will try to, but never begins to run. I have checked the pipes and connections a dozen times by now and I cannot figure it out.
Open it in a custom game. Go into the menu and make sure to check unlimited fuel and unlimited electric. Try the motor again. If it still won’t run it’s probably something wrong with the build. A part not lined up the right way for example.
It might not have air, exhaust, fuel or be reaching 2rps to properly start. Look at the engine with the tooltips enabled, I think its home key by default, and see which values are still at 0.
@@terr-rawr-saur I got it working turns out I was using 0.50 air and 1 fuel when it was the other way round but now it's working it's too fast and I can't figure out how to make it slower
Have a look at the engine ECU's in the description. If you are dead set on making your own you will need an RPS limiter. Usually you want some kind of PID and a low and high target. Low for idle and high for max rps. @@Sh0wSh0wN1
Make sure your clutch is set to 0 when starting the engine. Check that your air and exhaust pipes exit into the open air. Check that all the pipes are actually connected. Example, sometimes a pipe may be placed the wrong orientation. Check the fuel type in your tank is set to diesel.
Hey, so I tried to make a if you do normal engine, but longer, will it work with the way you did it? Cuz it ani't working for me. (P.S) I have 7 crankshafts.
Yes, you could have 1000 crankshafts and it would still work the same way. The more cylinders you add the more load you need to start but one starter motor should be sufficient to start a 7 crankshaft engine.
Infinite fuel bypasses every port. Which means the air, fuel or exhaust pipes may not be connected to fluid ports or a fuel tank in the case of the fuel manifold. Double check your pipes.
If the engine runs but the wheels do not move, you need some kind of clutch controller. There are some ECU's that have built in Clutch and gearbox controllers, ZE has some Truck ECU's with this, and also a separate clutch controller. Try this clutch controller. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2973981226
@@danieltoman7692 What is the problem? Automatic Clutch controllers usually engage after a set RPS so you need to connect all the logic, set the min and max engagement RPS then use a throttle to make the engine RPS increase beyond the clutches detected engagement.
id say honestly that simple engines are actually better because their easier to cool And they make 2x the power than the modular engine especially comparing a flat 8 cylinder vs a medium engine, the medium engine Dominates.
Check the direction of the crankshaft and make sure the circular sides are connected to the drive belt and clutch, you can enable tool tips in the game settings to show you if the engine is getting air, fuel and producing exhaust, If it is not producing exhaust the fluid ports on the exhaust manifold may not be placed correctly.

Amazing tutorial!!!

Amazing video! Would love it if you could make one about nuclear reactors for a boat or submarine!
Hi, could you do a tutorial on how to make the microcontroller? I can't install it.
Your guidance is very helpful, but how can I display the engine temperature?
The engine functions but it wont turn other stuff, for example, i connect wheels to the clutch via pipes, but it doesnt turn the wheels
You can control the rps with controlling the clutch pressure with a lever
very confusing video especially if not using a radiator like on a boat, how would i connect the fluid pump to use the ocean water as coolant?
How many fuel manifolds and air manifolds do you need? Do you need just one or more depending on the amount of cylinders?

ok, thanks@@terr-rawr-saur
i already got all the fuel and air needed but still the engine wouldnt start, can anyone help me out?
I put this in my boat, and I made it 3x3 and it redlines at 1.5 rps for some reason.
1.5 rps would mean it hasnt started yet. It is probably missing something. It needs to be going 2 rps or faster to start.
@@terr-rawr-saur do I need more starters or something?
Possibly. It could be the air or fuel intake. Just try more starters to begin with.@@mrmirchiTheCodGuy
