Overwatch is my first FPS. When i saw the trailer, I decided i will master Widowmaker no matter what. I have played the game less than a year, and i have 300 hours. My aim is really good now. (3.5 ingame 800 dpi) Why? Because i was practicing all the time. Nobody can teach u how to aim, u have to put in ur effort and dont give up. So don’t spend ur time watching aim guides, and practice instead.
What is "really good"? Critrate, SR? Do you only play Widow? I'm a Widow 1trick. I've been playing FPS fps a long time now, on and off. So since I've started playing Overwatch I'm playing less not-fps games and reducing playtime in other fps titles also to not screw up my aim. For Overwatch I decided I wanted to actually get good at aiming. Most heroes don't require any aim which would then be dead time wasted where I could be practising. So I decided to 1trick Widow. I mean you can probably climb pretty high with McCree without ever learning how to aim if you just position yourself and Flash your Hammer all the time... Started at 2008 SR in s3 and now my career high is 3344. 20% critrate s8. My aim was really good for a gold player, enough to compete with the rare masters/t500 players I met in Widow only HS servers. My positioning was Bronze level though. My tracking is horrible now, used to be decent. I do want to be somewhat proficient with tracking aim also so will probably add a little bit of Sombra. Now that her spread is lowered a bit aiming actually is required.
I bought the game last week. Had 13% accuracy. This is my first fps since HALO 1.. (how long is that?) I practiced the whole week... Got 60 hours played.. up to 35% acc. This is true, you just gotta practice... Now i hit almlst every flickshot on the training grounds.
I love this video because it should resonate extremely well with anyone who ever wanted to be really good at something. The pro players that look like Gods are not really Gods at aiming but rather they just have massive numbers of hours ahead of you. Sidenote: don't be discouraged with aiming, when I started PC less than a year ago I was completely awful at aiming but after roughly 300 or so hours on hitscan(mainly mc cree and soldier) and countless potato aim hours I'm finally a gm mc cree main and I'm playing on a 60hz monitor don't get discouraged and don't give up it is very possible!
well, skills are also important on top of practice. Some people just cannot compete vs others in various fields. Lets accept that and do not pretend that all people are same, cause we aren't.
I used to study music in college. My conductors/professors had a saying that 1 day of missed practice is 2 days behind your peers. I love your emphasis on practicing every day, and it really can't be said enough. To be *excellent* at something, you need to practice EVERY. DAY.
Thanks. This makes me feel better. I get frustrated a lot comparing myself to pros thinking that I should be better. This reminds me that I haven't earned it yet and that it is possible
Slayergramps was a console player till overwatch. That was his first PC game and FPS using a mouse. He climbed to top 500 (and has continuously maintained it) after 6-8 months of playing mostly Soldier, Tracer, McCree, Widow and hog. His aim is clearly at the same level as most pros and when I asked him about it, he just said that he actively practiced for a few months. In his view, just practicing and focusing for a few minutes each day is a lot better than passively playing thinking you'll get better over time. He also emphasized that building aim was the easy part and took a lot less time than actually developing the game sense needed for high level play. So while your numbers might have some authenticity to them, there's an extremely high probability of them having major exceptions and it all comes down to the player. Yes, you need to put in time and effort. But needing 2-3 years with 4+ hours a day just to get good aim at the same level as the pros? Nope, it can be done much earlier and much later depending on the player. And I think the biggest factor is actively practicing. By that I mean adjusting to a good sense, doing aim drills and while playing a match, actively focusing all your efforts on aim for that specific match. Say to yourself, "doesn't matter if I lose this match or if I literally have to stand still. My job is to not miss" Again, something Slayer said. Active and critical practice for short term is always going to be better than passive playing for long term. While I agree with a lot of stuff you say about aim, I think this video and the next few ones are not really relevant towards practical application. All these statistics and knowledge won't help anyone improve their aim. Actually going in game and trying to play better will. No player should be given a straight answer to how long it takes (like you saying two years) because there simply isn't one. For all we know, there could be one prodigy here who gets his aim built up in a month. Maybe even sooner. There's no number to how long it will take, only the player and his effort. There are legit players with 1000s of hours and are still in bronze with horrible game sense and aim. And then there are players like Slayer and countless other GMs who reached their ranks in a lot less time with a lot less experience. Call it natural talent, critical practice, efficient playing etc whatever. Point is that there's no timeline for it and every player is different and will have their own pace that only they themselves can change. P.S he also considers it a hobby xD He's not even a full time streamer.

Wow I was actually obsessively searching for this information yesterday and now you upload a video on it. I have 800 hours in Overwatch and less than a year of using high end equipment and I've peaked at 3417. My aim as McCree is definitely not all that bad but I miss shots that I know better players would make. I've never played FPS games on PC before OW so I'm still relatively a newbie. I've been so worried that I just hit some sort of block and can't get any better. But the amount of time I put into the game and FPSs in general is infinitesimal compared to those that I look up to and compare myself to. Thanks for the video man.

Thanks much for this! I think I've been getting in a rut as well and I think that the upcoming series will help me get more motivated to get into using more hitscan characters
I kinda learned this from switching from console to PC. I was really good mechanically on console because I had been playing for 5-6 years because of experience and when I switched to PC it was very uncomfortable to aim, and I'm still learning
Started playing widow in deathmatch maxed maybe 4 kills. Won my first deathmatch after two weeks spamming her, that with 200ms playing from South Africa. Aim is just practicing like a mad man :)
2:47 this is what people dont understand sir in India its really tough to pursue your career in esports ....you gotta emerge from your so called hobby of playing games...people here dont let their child make Gaming whatever it be FPS MOBA etc as their job ....however I m studying right now and will get a job so that I could get independent of my family and pursue my dream....I found your channel today sir and I m Overwhelmed by your words ..love from India
Iostux for me my aim got pretty good really quick cos ow is my first fps i got it last year and i was a 1400 winston main now i have 3 3800-3900 masters acc and i play mainly tracer mcree soldier genji
This was a great video, and thanks to UA-cam algorithm I was recommended this video 3 years later... I agree with everything that was said in this video but one thing that wasn’t mentioned was how efficient each hour was spent perfecting your skills in a game. If you spend 700 hours doing everything you can to improve as fast as possible rather than occasionally playing and sometimes doing things that doesn’t help your aim at all for 1400 hours then I would assume they should be on par with each other. But is that the case? I have no clue lol, I’m just saying my opinion is all.
Makes sense. I’ve played console since the PS2 came out, seeing how I hit grandmaster in just over a year. Only been on pc for 5 months and I’m only diamond
I started learning Soldier this week, moving from a Winston main. My aim is very bad it’s discouraging. I’m between 25-35% accuracy on average. I’m playing on console and finding the right aim settings for me has been infuriating.
Your right, I REALLY REALLY want to become a McCree main. But he takes allot of practice. So I always do quick play everyday until I get better. Even if I’m not doing good...I’m not giving up. Thank you for this advice.
This is true. I've only put in about 500~ Hours into Overwatch and I'm sitting at Diamond right now. If I would invest the time and quit playing other games that take up time I could vastly improve my aim as Ana or Zen. But alas I am addicted to MMORPGs, I've probably put around 7,000 hours into the handful of MMORPGs I've played.
I started playing First person shooters with MW2 back in 2009 (I think), then to black ops, then to MW3, then to black ops 2, then to CS:GO, then to black ops 3, then to Overwatch, then to Rainbow Six siege. Overall I have around 10,000 hours of experience with FPS games. And I still suck at it. Most of those hours were spent on console (wich I'm good at) but only like 700 hours on PC, so I'm sooooooo bad at aiming with the mouse. I'm bronze on R6 Siege, but master on Overwatch (because I play Zarya lol). But ye, It takes a LOT of practice.
Well, I am in first category of people. However I still watch your videos cause they pass on knowledge and concepts which are useful in other games and even in live in general.
Guys, just train your aim all the time. Even when playing single-player. Aim at the corner of the wall, aim at the horse's ass. Aim at whatever, just aim at something all the time. That REALLY helps. Just try it.
Just a random tip to add, for those who think they deserve better, just train every single hero (preferably in qp) so you actually know the game. I'm at high master rn but back then when i was diamond even after 80 hours with genji i was bad, why ? Because i played only pharah junkrat (150h/300) . Now after 500 hours i can play 20 heroes of overwatch cast in masters and do well with them. You don't get good at the game only by playing him over and over, at least learn how to play well at least 2 hero of each category (dps, tank, healer) at a certain elo and you will climb faster
thanx for mentioning us ut/quake veterans. i play ut99 since it was released 20 years ago. there are some players who acquired insane aiming/prediction skills over the years. aiming is a skill like any other, the more time you invest in it, the better you get. edit: i forgot to say that vast majority of today's fps games suck. developers are mostly focused on making the games look nice and overlook the actual gameplay itself. just for comparison -overwatch: /watch?v=weJM2dz8YRU -ut99: /watch?v=9NjPN8U1FeE
Damn I really like where you're coming from I just shifted to pc gaming(never played on a pc before) and I have really bad aim(high silver and low gold) even though I want to get better I just dont have time to do so being a broke student and all.
I started playing FPS games at a young age. Mostly Quake and UT ironically, and my aim is fairly better than most others aim. But I am simply not at a level of top aimers and never have been. I believe that I am not practicing the proper techniques, because my aiming habits have never gone away and it's cost me tens of thousands of deaths over the last 15+ years.
I'm level 800+ on overwatch, 6 months of practise in comp since level 25 and always placed in bronze/low bronze. I noticed after 4600 games in bronze that I'm slowly increasing my winration every season of 1/2% like s8 46% s9 48% s10 49%. In the meantime I learned half of the roster of ow so i can play any role since I specialized in dps/tank/support so pratically any role, my bad doesnt sucks so bad, the problem is Im not enough reactive to survive. If I would die at least 1/3 of my actual deaths, I would be in diamond.
Up until 4 days ago I've only ever played games on console. Literally 0 experience in any PC games (except Age of Empires when I was little lol). On Xbox, I'm a casual Mid-masters player. Playing mostly Hog, Ball, 76, Hanzo, Ana, Zen, not too try-hard or anything, I'm a real person. BUT I'm only level 9 on PC OW and I feel like my aim is ALREADY on par with myself on console. So to ME, imo, it tales 4 days. 4 days is the answer boys lmao
I have over 2k hours in MW2 alone and that's not nearly the majority of my playtime. But I'm still facing major consistancy issues. It's to the point where I can't even get enjoyment out of my good performance because I know it's going to go downhill any time. Sometimes it's impossible for me to warm up and I know I won't be able to do well that day, or even that week. I feel like I've plateaued a long time ago since I haven't really gotten better for as long as I can remember now. And I have no idea how to break through this.
I've taken many breaks. I just couldn't get any enjoyment out of the games I played anymore, that just happens. And once that happens there's not really a point in playing anymore. But I picked up overwatch around two weeks ago and I'm getting really into it. And the tips these channels offer have already helped me out a ton.
after watching all of em i realise my shot isnt as bad as it seems. i just cant shoot under pressure. so i need to learn how to keep myself calm during pressure situations. cheers for helping me figure that out tho
Just started playing OW a year ago on pc, but I have probably clocked near 10k hours in first person shooters, and definitely 10k or more gaming, probably 20k hours gaming tbh. This dude doubts how little life I have lol, this isn't discouraging at all, if anything I feel like I'm right on pace with the other pros lol, in a year or so I'll be insane once I got 2 or 3 years of aiming with mouse under my belt.
Even though I played call of duty for a long time, I main Lucio because I just find him More fun to play. Edit: I gotta show this series of videos to my brother, this might help him understand why he's still in platinum/gold.
Honestly I wanna get better and keep playing, but not having as much time as I want due to school and then comp amd social anxiety doesn't really help as well. I need to try something new cuz im silver boarder, boarding silver lol.... I am one sad boi
Ive been cod for like 10 years and my aim is still bad im begging for help I dont know what to do. Ive watch so many video on improving my aim I practice in custom games like every day and I do everything I can to get better aim but it just doesnt happen. Plus I'm playing every multiple hours a day. And yet still after all these years trying to improve my aim it has never gotten better than average. I just don't understand. I need help
My problem is that sometimes I feel I play really good and I am hitting alot of the shots I want to be hitting, but then the next day I play some more and miss every shot. I feel like I can do better than I am doing because sometimes I do play better, but I dont always play that way and I am not sure why sometimes I just suck. :(
I think you're aim is born with you, I'm silver portrait and been playing FPS for about 4 years and been grinding my mechanical skill on overwatch everyday and I still have garbage aim
I play everyday 3/4 hours (schooldays) and basically more then 9/10 hours every Saturday and sunday. During holidays I literally play all day. I started playing OW like 4/5 months ago on PC. Managed to get from the bottom to 3000 and now I feel kind of stuck, I can play at a super low diamond level main tanks and ana/lucio. Applying game knowledge in game feels fucking impossible ngl. Played 400 hours in total most played hero is rein with 75 hours (not much really).
bro im ofc not feeling bad knowing pros put more time; what im feeling bad about is that some of them trained for the same amount of time as me and that they are on a level that I might never reach even by training 2 times more. + the fact that i dont see any diff between the me from last year and the me from today, thats depressing af, a thing where i put myself in a lot, i cant improve at it, there is almost nothing that I will ever like to tryhard more than this game, for exemple tryharding ur work is pretty rare, ppl do what they have to do and thats it. So even with the most tryhard I can get, I cant improve, what kind of loser am I?

@@angelsarriondominguez9021 thanks bud!
NoteDart5 _ how long did it take u to get good aim assuming ur mechinically good cause u trying to be a pro player
Iostux may not turn over videos as often as some other channels but they're ALL helpful/insightful. This is, in my opinion, far more appealing. Teamstux
Thanks much for this! I think I've been getting in a rut as well and I think that the upcoming series will help me get more motivated to get into using more hitscan characters
Stop comparing yourself to others. Compare your progress to your own. You feel better.
I kinda learned this from switching from console to PC. I was really good mechanically on console because I had been playing for 5-6 years because of experience and when I switched to PC it was very uncomfortable to aim, and I'm still learning
i love your vids man, i already sent you a message on discord about 2 weeks ago but i want to say it again because they are just that good. Thank you
Started playing widow in deathmatch maxed maybe 4 kills. Won my first deathmatch after two weeks spamming her, that with 200ms playing from South Africa. Aim is just practicing like a mad man :)
This is just a good video about mastering anything in life.
2:47 this is what people dont understand sir
in India its really tough to pursue your career in esports ....you gotta emerge from your so called hobby of playing games...people here dont let their child make Gaming whatever it be FPS MOBA etc as their job ....however I m studying right now and will get a job so that I could get independent of my family and pursue my dream....I found your channel today sir and I m Overwhelmed by your words ..love from India
Better late than never haha!
I don't play overwatch but found the link on reddit. Love it. it's inspirational.
Your english is very good. I can tell though
Been playing fps since I was a teen. Now I be 25 and I still can't hit shit lol.
I feel you dude
Dude i'm lucio LETS AMP IT UP. nice to have you back!
Your right,
I REALLY REALLY want to become a McCree main. But he takes allot of practice. So I always do quick play everyday until I get better. Even if I’m not doing good...I’m not giving up.
Thank you for this advice.
I wouldnt waste my time in quick play, go straight to comp, its more challenging that way!
ioStux Coaching | Overwatch alright
ioStux Coaching | Overwatch are you sure? Because I’m in bronzes.
Should I keep trying?
This video hit the spot.
Thank you, this video is needed and now I am more determine to practice this game! :)
Love the new animations! Great video
Guys, just train your aim all the time. Even when playing single-player. Aim at the corner of the wall, aim at the horse's ass. Aim at whatever, just aim at something all the time. That REALLY helps. Just try it.
The comic with the drawing was so perfect.
You don't get good at the game only by playing him over and over, at least learn how to play well at least 2 hero of each category (dps, tank, healer) at a certain elo and you will climb faster
thanx for mentioning us ut/quake veterans. i play ut99 since it was released 20 years ago. there are some players who acquired insane aiming/prediction skills over the years. aiming is a skill like any other, the more time you invest in it, the better you get.
edit:
i forgot to say that vast majority of today's fps games suck. developers are mostly focused on making the games look nice and overlook the actual gameplay itself.
just for comparison

When ioStux finally posts
Damn I really like where you're coming from I just shifted to pc gaming(never played on a pc before) and I have really bad aim(high silver and low gold) even though I want to get better I just dont have time to do so being a broke student and all.
3 types of people... you forgot the hanzo mains. I'm one of them and now I need to go learn my craft and ruin billions comp games
Beary Boy practice for 30 min everyday in the practice range first
i was feeling pretty shitty about my skill level but this kinda made me feel better
I love that you used Linkzr as a pro example.
Helps a lot to understand why I'm still Silver 😁
I use the 2nd slowest mouse sen to practice on Aimbooster and somehow got I got better at flicking and reacting.
I appreciate the images of LiNKzR. One of the better widows in the league, and it will be a fun season to be a Houston fan.
one season, i played so much overwatch that i got depressions so i decided to slow down a little bit xD (In this season i dropped from 3.6 to 3.1)
Really how people should look at anything they wanna get good at tbh
Wait for the last episode, Aim Secrets #24, should come out on March 24th
i know that feel man, have you tried taking a break for a month or so?
I've taken many breaks. I just couldn't get any enjoyment out of the games I played anymore, that just happens. And once that happens there's not really a point in playing anymore. But I picked up overwatch around two weeks ago and I'm getting really into it. And the tips these channels offer have already helped me out a ton.
ok. video one. roadhog/moira main. i want to learn to aim. lets see how this goes
after watching all of em i realise my shot isnt as bad as it seems. i just cant shoot under pressure. so i need to learn how to keep myself calm during pressure situations. cheers for helping me figure that out tho
I’m above average at almost all things I try but I can never go above to the next level.
:'( i'M so happy to see this, thank you to help me overcome my fear.
i started at plat season 4 and about 600 hrs later im Grandmaster and even hit top 500 a couple of times Keep the dream! XD
Even though I played call of duty for a long time, I main Lucio because I just find him More fun to play.
Edit: I gotta show this series of videos to my brother, this might help him understand why he's still in platinum/gold.
TF2 doesn't have movement acceleration though.
großartige Playlist. Du hast mir echt geholfen :)
Honestly I wanna get better and keep playing, but not having as much time as I want due to school and then comp amd social anxiety doesn't really help as well. I need to try something new cuz im silver boarder, boarding silver lol....
I am one sad boi
I can aim but I perfer the mechanical/game sense aspects of overwatch so I mostly play tanks.
a) Aim IS mechanical
b) Tanks take aim
c) Supports and DPS take mechanics and game sense
I can't believe I am no where close to master at eating category.
I hope I don't have to hear you ask us to headshot the suscribe button every episode.
Thanks for motivation !
I needed this video
Greta analogies. Excellent advice.
I need help
You're a coach? Wow that's wonderful! But I haven't got a PC! To play!
I want a link to that last comic about drawing plox
I'm a Winston main, and I've already seen this video on Jaynes stream. Why am I watching even this? kek
Alrighty time to start the grind
My problem is that sometimes I feel I play really good and I am hitting alot of the shots I want to be hitting, but then the next day I play some more and miss every shot. I feel like I can do better than I am doing because sometimes I do play better, but I dont always play that way and I am not sure why sometimes I just suck. :(
I think you're aim is born with you, I'm silver portrait and been playing FPS for about 4 years and been grinding my mechanical skill on overwatch everyday and I still have garbage aim
Yeah I'm stuck with permanently bad aim
Why wasn't this in my sub box REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I just subscribed ur an awesome youtuber
hey, that's a good point
thank you ^^
Great video man
I already was a Reinhardt main though i do flex if i have to and can play every tank but i did have a big ripperino with your into ahaha
LiNkzr is my dad
bro im ofc not feeling bad knowing pros put more time; what im feeling bad about is that some of them trained for the same amount of time as me and that they are on a level that I might never reach even by training 2 times more. So even with the most tryhard I can get, I cant improve, what kind of loser am I?
what kind of crosshair are you currently using? mainly play mccree and widow looking for advice because i just use a tiny crosshair right now
With instruments it takes a lot longer than 3 years to actually feel confident in your playing
What if you have *bad* *internet* where you live?
I wanna play but my parents don't let me...:(
me who expects my aim to get better by the time i hit a 100 hours on mccree: *cries in mcmiss*
