I messaged you on twitter and you told me that I shouldn't do deathmatch as a training, have you changed your stance?
Practicing for 1-2 hours a day and then spending a few hours in custom server death matches really helped my aim in csgo. I went from being alright to consistently being a top player on my teams and being able to hit consistent flicks and head shots. An important thing to do is to play with people better than you, sure it really sucks getting shit on in those custom FFA servers, but slowly and surely I managed to be able to hold my own over time.
just click on the head LOOOOLL

So aim basically means clicking their heads. So simple yet so hard
Pro tip: Fps aim trainer by KovaaK
Look for the 'Total Mayhem' gametype in arcade or lobby browser. It takes a LONG time to kill enemies due to increased health, so you are really forced to track for long stretches to get a kill. It's without a doubt the most intensive way to train aim in overwatch.
I disagree, do NOT go into lobbies that change the settings! Having a shit ton of hp defeats the purpose of the FFA, and it also gives you a completely different idea of how much damage you deal and how long it takes to kill people. DO NOT JOIN CUSTOM GAMES THAT CHANGE THE GAMES BALANCE!
Your forgetting the point ioStux, the intent here is not to train game sense, but to train aim. It's perfectly alright to separate the two provided you already have a good grasp on the game sense. What I recommended is strictly for tracking practice. However, I should have noted that I am GM and that this is not best for beginners who are learning the game.
Some people prefer 3rd party software such as Aim Hero...however I prefer this because it captures the movement patterns within OW at the same time.
There is a difference between "Training", "Not Training" and "Actively building bad habits and fucking your gameplay up"
I am not saying you shouldnt play Total Mayhem because it is in the "Not Training" category, I am saying you shouldnt play Total Mayhem because it is in the "Actively building Bad Habits and fucking your gameplay up" category =)
Iancreed8592 iostux is right on this one... Imagine walking into a ranked game, and thinking you have 400 HP, so you become complacent, and don't worry about position or survivability, all because of total mayhem habits...
I see what you are saying, I would have to say that it depends on the person. I've never felt like I've had an issue mentally sepperating traditional gameplay with something like Total mayhem. In a game with several hero choices like overwatch you could make the same argument towards a tracer main, and say that the tracer main should not play roadhog because it would mess with your head and make you think you have 600 hp when you really only have 150...or position yourself like a roadhog when playing tracer. I tend to think mentally sepperating two heros and their respective gameplays is no different than having a mental sepparation between two gametypes.
Though I could be wrong. This is just how I feel personally from my own experiance.
4:16, I've been practicing with this for a bit now and honestly I feel like if someone where to truly master playing without a crosshair, a crosshair might become a liability
no one:
ioStux: you will get stomped
Damn, thats a very well drawn thumbnail...or did you? 🤔
*cough* Photoshop *cough*
photoshop filter i think
Che Che prob
when you say "a good ffa lobby" what does that mean? what should i look for?
'Aim practise ffa/skirmish', 'aim warmup', stuff like that. I wouldn't recommend hs only lobbies because those aren't realistic, but that's just me.
You don't recommend HS only lobbies for Widow and McCree also or just the others? Because I think it's good with those heroes considering the importance of headshots in their kits. At the same time imo the biggest problems of HS only lobbies is that they are limited in terms of hero pool
faalkaa 50 kills 12 players and most good servers have heroes like moira roadhog disabled, since they are stupidly good in FFA
It's debatable. Widow HS only is a festival of close-range duels and grappling everywhere, which can be good in some senses but if you're trying to generally learn Widowmaker it's not that good. Haven't been in many McCree HS lobbies but that's because I really dislike them personally.
Headshot only builds bad habits because you will take less damage
Iostux, thanks for the video. I do have one question about using FFA as the primary aiming practice. I've been doing it for the past few days and find that the players in those game are so good that I die really fast. Because they kill me in like two seconds, I feel rushed in my aiming. Should I slow down and just focus on landing one headshot before dying or just embrace the pace of the game? My main concern is that because I can't slow down to develop the right muscle memory, I won't improve as much as in an easier situation.
Don't join FFA for at least a week. People are practicing their s i c c Brigitte f l i c c s.
There's some lobbies that disable/nerf her.
shes so broken in 1v1s too lmfao
If Brigitte is supposed to be an answer to Tracer and all Flankers in general she'd better be broken in 1v1
Yeah true, Brigitte is busted rn, like her damage is ridiculous for a support
1v1s are life.
I find it very difficult to practice aim in ffa when against a genji or doomfist who sits in corners and gets in your face with barely any chance to win the duel
Nice video as always , but could you be more specific about the "FFA custom games"?
Check some of the other comments, you'll find plenty of details :)
thanks!
What about aim hero? Will Reflex training help a lot if I do it every day?
Joe Danny he has made an aim secret video on that already
Joe Danny TL;DR it's ok but overwatch is better
You can really easily get skilled in following a bot but it still doesn't teach you Genji double jumping over you
What exactly is the problem with the arcade FFA DM? What makes custom games versions better?
Why is the arcade death match/FFA garbage as compared to custom game ones?
I think it’s because arcade ffa have limitations which remove the useless characters like moira and Brigette whereas in arcade it’s full of noobs playing non aim heroes.
yeah like genji
That is awful to hear for me, here in Brazil most Custom games are 500% ult charge or other non-sense games, and I rarely get a comp-like pug.
I’m also confused about this. If I’m practising my aim then it doesn’t matter if I’m
Aiming at ‘non-aim’ heroes that real people are playing,.as they are putting me under just as much pressure.
And sure, the lobby may have random ranks in but how will my aim improve if I’m
Constantly headshot by god like GM’s?. I’d then be practising my positioning and awareness more than anything as I’d be lucky to get a shot off.
The way iOstux worded this implied that you don’t play real people in Arcade which is clearly incorrect.
Clarify please SifuStux!
1. You dont play against cancer heroes, which means that you practice how to duel against actual duelist characters like McCree Tracer Genjis. That was your movement improves MUCH faster.
2. Less to no queue times. So its more time efficient
3. No matchmaking, so even low ranked players get the opportunity to learn with and from the best of the best!
4. No region locking. Good luck finding a DM from australia, custom games are no problem however!
5. "i would just get headshot all the time" Thats the point! So you have to learn how to not get headshot, simple as that :)
I could probabl come up with more but those are the main ones I can think of :)
but when i play ffa in custom games there is allways a mix of people 1-2 high ranking 3-4 low ranking and the rest is in the middle, but when i go in arkade ffa i only get an even number of diamonds masters and gms
and so the niveau is much higher for me when i go there
What’s the difference between arcade deathmatch and custom game deathmatch. I thought arcade deathmatch was good ?
Itz Major custom games have most of the time 12 players and 50 kills, meaning less downtime. besides that people in those custom games are there to improve their mechanics as well, meaning you can get better faster by playing better opponents. lastly, custom ffa have the "cancer" heroes (cancer for ffa) disabled, like roadhog moira and sombra
So what do you search for in custom games? Personal I do the Widowmaker HS mode a lot, but I'm not sure if that aim transfers over to other heroes.
You can search FFA, deathmatch, aim, practice, etc.
Dont do any headshot only, just do regular ones with bodyshots and most characters enabled!
Concerning custom games, would you recommend changing movement speeds to make it more challenging?
For Hitscan yes, for Porjectile you want to avoid it!
What would you recommend for making projectile practice more difficult, and how much faster should movement be increased for hitscan?
ALLA TILL FFA!!!
From now on is this the video where I learned the most of.
My friend has the best aim of every one I know.
But I have never released why?
But know I know challange is the answer he play agianst very good streamers and pro's.
The best get better, The worst get worse :(
I'd respectfully disagree with that tbh iostux. It's more if they have the will to NOT give up. I went from being one of the "worst" to...actually getting the hang of R6S and holding my own against pros in Outbreak PvE on Pandemic difficulty despite only having a 32 hours ingame. Feels good proving people wrong who expect me to suck just because my account is a mere level 10, when I have 460 hours in KF2; it's just how much TIME you're willing to invest and how patient you are to learn from mistakes. That's all. :)
I think FFA is harder for me in arcade though.. when you go into the custom game lobbies all you have are diamonds/plats rarely any gms.
I have the same dilemma. Arcade provides more of a challenge with mostly master/GM players in the game but suffers from cancer and long ques. If I'm able to find a good custom game on the other hand, there is usually only one or two good players in it (if even that many) while everyone else is bot level.
Hey, do you have any tips for when to flick with your wrist and when to flick with your arm on low sensitivity? Is mixing both the best solution? Because my sens is at that weird point where i sometimes overaim with my arm at small distances and at the same time i would have to bend my wrist too much...
Just curious, what’s your sens? I think flicking should always be based on wrist movement, your arm is used for sweeping movements, like 180 turns, tracking, etc. In general you should use your arm to get near the target, and then flick with your wrist for the precise shot. But in the end it comes down to practice, practice, practice
Crack_Goat my sens is 2.0 at 1600 dpi, i always think aiming with your arm first and then adjust with wrist takes too much time :/
You see, the reason I said ‘I think’ and ‘in general’ is because I don’t consciously move between arm and wrist aim. It’s something that happens naturally. There shouldn’t be any real time to think. Idk, there are a lot of things that could help, but I’d say definitely use more than just your wrist(I put my fore arm on my desk) and put the hours into flicking and tracking practice
Crack_Goat yeah, i havent found the optimal solution for me yet, i guess i aim too much with my arm which leads to overaiming at short distances. Thanks for your help :)
You pretty much always flick with your wrist
What's the difference between an FFA lobby and the Deathmatch arcade mode?
Would PUGs be helpful for being able to practice everything without the stress of people in comp?
Casual should be fine, as you won't get flamed for instalocking a certain hero you wanna practise on unlike comp where team composition is a thing. At least be comfortable with them in bots before you try them out in PvP as people can be pretty ruthless with their aim even on casual.
i dont like playing widow because my sens is off but there are only widow deathmatches :/
i cant predict what my exact sens would be can i
The problem i have with the custom games are that first of all there isn’t a custom game for every hero. For example if i want to get better at pharah i don’t find one. I do use it for practicing widow a lot and it has helped a lot but in widow ffa everyone is scoped in, moving slowly so it is still a lot easier than for example lucio bots with headshot only.
I said in the video that you just join a normal FFA lobby. No Widow only or any garbage like that. *x only* lobbies are trash, look for "ffa warmup tryhard normal" something like that
ioStux Coaching | Overwatch thanks for the help will try it out tomorrow :)
i practice in randomizer heroes. then i get more lootboxes for levelling up than arcade rewards (lootbox for 3rd wins).
Nice profile pic, Homm5 FTW!
Arcade DM IS GARBAGE, I AGREE 100%, Most tilt inducing bs mode in the game.
What's your opinion on playing QP for practice? The team work is 0 but people tend to play heroes with smaller hitboxes.
QP is a huge waste of Time
ioStux Coaching | Overwatch That's interesting I always use it to warm up. What makes it useless?
3:15 why he spreading his legs like that?
Why is the game browser (FFA against randoms) better than Arcade (with Matchmaking)? I can't see any benefit.
People who queue for Arcade usually just want lootboxes, whereas people in custom games are there to train. I custom games you also have less downtime, you dont have to queue all the time. Most FFA lobbies also disable certain characters, because you dont learn a lot from playing against 11 Brigittes. Overall Custom Games are much more challenging. Also, a gold player has a much higher chance of playing against higher level players in a custom game than if he queues
ioStux Coaching | Overwatch i see golds and gms in the same game all the time in deathmatch
Thanks! To be honest: I think FFA is one of the arcade modes most people play for the fun, not for the lootboxes. But of course disabling certain heroes can be useful. On the other hand, I think it can be useful to learn how to outdps a Sym too.... even if it's not 100% aim related. Also I like some custom modes like the HS only modes...
Sascha Wagner the only annoying hero there is moira which you also see in comp so learning her hitbox is also helpful
There's never 11 Brigittes in FFA lobbies. I didn't see that on her release day. And you need to be able to duel Brigittes and Roadhogs etc. Yes it's hard to kill autoaim heroes with massive healthpools. But the challenge makes the practise good because you must not miss at all to win the duel. You need to land 3 headshots in a row and not miss at all with Widow to kill that Roadhog. Tell me that isn't a challenge that is worth overcoming. Disable the challenge makes the practise worth less.
GM players end up in my arcade FFA's sometimes, the matchmaking isn't really that strict for FFA. They wont be that common in the lobby FFA mode either because there aren't that many GM players and I don't think GMs prefer lobby FFA in general.
What's so bad about the arcade deathmatch?
just click on their head LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL 4HEAD
You mean, there are bots in arcade FFA?
Are you from Germany?
just click the head loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool 4Head
I sort of disagree, i spend like 2 hours a day in Practice range and i can really see improvement since i started, just me?
Warmup =\= Practice
1v1 custom best?
if you are not good at the game those ffa loobies dont help at all. if everyone plays better than you and you keep dying you are better off in the arcade where players around your skill level fight you. only dying to superior enemies will just get you tilted and make your aim worse.
like ana paintball?
No just regular FFA :)
but what is the difference between arcade ffa and a custom game ffa
+Bryon Nguyen people want to get better at custom ffa where as arcarde ffa, most people are in it for the lootboxes
Idk man. All of these game browser FFAs are bad too. They are 12 players which is just garbage for FFA.
12 player is perfect. Means that positioning ans movement is even more important!
are you german and if so can we speak on discord

Why are arcade FFAs garbage?
Beary Boy cause he said so lol
Sorry but I don't care about your credentials, FFA DM matchmaking is a great way to improve your skills on one hero very focused. Inevitably your aim will improve too.
Wait... what? Did we watch the same video?
ioStux Coaching | Overwatch Easily, you wrote it so shouldn't it be easy to identify what I'm referring to?
Binka he said that arcade mode isn’t good which others have explained he said browser ones are good and read what u write before you hit reply
Ryan Har You obviously missed what I said entirely. The word "matchmaking" implies that it is arcade DM because privates are servers.
+Binka servers arent private
