From the other comments, it's remarkable how good English players become to their fans when they don't play. Foakes dropped some too. This team reminds me of Australia under Tubby Taylor - building towards a dominant era. That means investing in highly talented players like Smith and Bashir. This team learns more from losses than wins. Carse's emergence from absolutely nowhere is a huge bonus. It's certainly a far more entertaining team than the late 80s/early 90s revolving door selection era that destroyed best in generation players like Hick and Ramprakash. It also makes for a tasty match at Rawalpindi, the site of England's finest performance in the modern era. I hope that one has a crowd.
I want the bird swearer to have been Christopher Martin Jenkins. If only because I like the idea of him swearing at small birds getting in the way of test matches. Also in a sort of strange parallel universe way, where he had a TV voice and a real-life accent, a bit like a reverse version of Dot Cotton off Eastenders.
@@Ryan761993 there is an old saying that stats are for prats. I can see with my eyes he shells plenty nowadays and lots that he should take. Love the guy and his batting - but sadly once you start shelling them in the slips - you don’t pull it back…..
Nice philosophical podcast this one especially with the laments around Test cricket. Time machine to 1984 please, Windies on a rampage & Beverly Hills Cop in the cinema, take me back!
Its awfully hard being benfoakes. This test match will be alive as long as root and Stokes sweep pakistan out of tge game. But how Long will they survive against gut finger spinners.... Thats the question. Anyway pak badly needs a win
Nick Howson is getting very good at hosting these segments.
Nice one George, a subtle quote from the goat Dylan: "not dark yet but its getting there".

Root needs to be removed from the slips…. He’s only 50/50 man now on catches. Catching been on the wain for a couple of years now
Is that based on stats or just your gut?

Are you from England?
Was it Huw ?? 😂😂 Do tell !!
I'm not sure we've ever heard Huw swear.
Typically considered and eloquent.

That's why we need Ben Foakes the world's best wicket keeper.
Jamie Smith cost us the match
