Yeah true, but honestly, I'm surprised anyone can keep up with these guys. Like holy shit. I'm a drummer in a metal band too... and can't touch any of this....well, maybe some little fragments. But that's it
@@growponics9170 Prolly because he's a jazz drummer. They just do very heavy jazz fusion to be honest, which I love nonetheless but still, this is a different genre, approach and mindset.
I don't have doubt, it is one the most complex and dense AAL's songs ever. It is sad, dark, deep, atmospheric, heavy, creepy, many elements and layers together in just one song. So many possibilities of sonic interpretation and representation, I'm always speechless and hypnotized listening it.
I wouldn't have agreed with you not very long before now. but the main reason I do? It's because this song can be played to high fidelity on a single piano. In Tosin's older works, like CAFO or tempting time, to properly capture the sound, 2 pianos are needed. Yet many of his works after that album produced songs that sound almost infinitely more complex, but the composition is simplified in a way where their renditions sound much more complete on a single piano; including this song and I love it
This is my favorite song on the album. The opening riff is emotional, then that solo hits. Man it hits hard. Towards the end there’s a heavier emphasis on bass, and that strikes every chord in my body. Fantastic work from AAL, knocked it out of the park. Didn’t think they could top Madness of Many, but they did.
What a journey this song is... man, AAL are just on another level. There are really only a handful of groups that can pull off this kind of technical skill _and_ musicality _and_ innovation _and_ songwriting etc. etc. etc. These guys do it every album, song after song.
If anyone hasn't seen them play this live, I would highly recommend. This song, and the lights they have going with it. Everytime I hear this song I remember being back at the show, at the same time it takes me back to the present and being more in the moment in a strange way
This song makes me feel sad and angry in the same time. Just AAL make feel in this way. There is no one band like this. Thanks for all that's feelings.
I really need to keep up to date with things i enjoy. I discovered AAL nearly 10 years too late. I discovered this album yesterday, don't know how I've missed it all year. It's really been helping me keep my mind in focus mode while learning to CAD. Thanks AAL for making beautiful, powerful and inspirational music that stimulates my mind.
i didnt FIRST hear this live, but the first time i REALLY was able to take it in was at a live show during their parrhesia tour and i nearly fucking shit myself at 2:33
Ah yes! To me, it feels similar to Deftones, with hard and soft sounds perfectly balanced. Of course, the comparison does not extend to the techniques, but just the overall ambiance.
@@laurentmorin1923 Agreed. I'm a big fan of the Deftones and this is one of the reasons why. They were never quite "nu metal," but incorporating those "ethereal" elements certainly set them apart from their peers and kept them relevant and fresh as the nu metal bubble collapsed. The older I get, the more I appreciate groups that expand their musical horizons.
fuck I love this band. I had always had them in my top 5 without a doubt in my mind, but first was always BTBAM, but i've gotta say that Animals has thoroughly taken first for me. So much emotion, and those chunky parts. Everything is perfect about this band and the way that they compose their music.
Congradulations on signing with Sumerian AAL. This album rips. Just saw you guys live at the Crowfoot in Pontiac, Mi with Intervals. Thanks for choosing this song for the setlist its my new favorite.
Having serious difficulty wrapping my mind around some of these subdivisions….attempting to figure out what Matt is up too as a fellow drummer is what it must be like for the layperson trying to comprehend any drummer.
Saw them in Paso Robles in CA, have been listening to them to them since Highschool(Had some mushrooms before hand) It was fucking amazing , its rare (in my opinion) you see a 3 piece band jam that hard.
Beautiful and Boombasticly fantastic. Quantum and Smashingly damn good. Brings memory's back when I heard Sithu Aye first. Complexity. Melody. Sincoope. Universe and Andromeda.
The developmental fluidity harmonically ahnd timbre-wise is so satisfying ahnd After hearing Jason Richardson's recent Ishimura, I was a little dissapointed with how copypasta-esk the tune was with pretty muhch juhst making 3 or 4 sections thaht pretty muhch did the same thing each time they came back ahnd didn't seem to really go anywhere. Where as this jank develops ahnd evolves it's ingredients ahnd connects them in a muhch more cohesive way, ahnd I greatly appreciate ahnd enjoi it. I love Jason Richardson ahnd imagine the rest of his album will be better for mei, the contrast for what I was wanting out of a tune was just made very apparent after listening to this beautious tune. Very enjoyable bit Tosin y Animals as Leaders.
To think that animals as leaders started off as a guitar only project boggles my mind, Matt really completes their sound 10/10

yes Matt Garstka is very good. Tosin and Javier are good too. But this album feels like Matt Garstka feat. Animals as Leaders 🤷♂
If you didn't knew they were only 3 people you wouldn't believe it, at least not by only listening their music
First two and a half minutes are like sitting on the seashore and watching the last sunset on Earth
Good description. It reminded me of Nasa's photos of the Small Magellanic Coulds. Just drifting through space.
this is about a bad day at school...like a really bad day...
it reminds me of biting my finger in space and seeing the blood flow out, floating and shining in a color i've never seen before
funny cause these kinds of chord progressions always make me think of sunsets during summer in the town i grew up in. best days of my life so far
Aw man. You just added an amazing visual to this song, thank you!

it sounds romantic to me lol
@@williamplayfair364 that’s the beauty of it, you can interpret it in any way you want. Even their name animals as leaders
I have a very tough opinion in what song is my favorite! I think this last album is just a fking beast. I'm excited to see another album

Yeah they really did (do) a great job at this. A refreshing creativity of their own.
You described the emotions on point.
aal is making music evolve
You gotta see this song live, the first solo damn near made me levitate
These guys are so inventive. You never know what’s gonna come next in one of their songs
This song... easily goes into my Top 10 AAL songs. Especially the first two minutes are pure heaven!
And then there's the rest of this album too...
The intro gave me The Future That Awaited Me vibes.
@@HermeticAscetic22 the vibe i love most from this band..
Which coincidentally only showed up once on the newest record
@@DaTLMusic so true. I thought I was the only one who missed this style of AAL. This track is on repeat for me.
If someone claims this is soulless shredding show him the solo at 1:13. One of their best imho. Always makes me smile.
This is one of those few songs that only get better and better after every listen. Should have been a single, IMO.
01:13 Such a tasteful solo. Love it!
Reminds me of that song from Les Mis, "do you hear the people sing" lol
Pee pee poo poo
Larga vida a Animals As Leaders.

Matty G on fire as usual. Unreal drums on this track.

My boyfriend told me about Animals as Leaders and I'm really enjoying every shape they create with every song, thank you very much for this present
One of those songs that really grows on you after two or three listens
Yeah🌚
Absolutely my favorite song in the album
every song on this album deserves to have its own dance.
This song in my opinion reflects a feeling of grievance. All of the emotions related to it are shown in this piece.
Those chonky parts get me

Night verses
I'm making that good stank face listening to parts of this.
This is the perfect background song for a trippy weird scifi story

Best song on the album by far
