Great advice! Comprehensible input is key and there are a variety of ways to make it comprehensible. It only gets easier and more enjoyable over time since your knowledge begins to builds on itself with each piece of material that you work through. Just gotta make it through those first hurdles, get comfortable with not understanding 100%, and keep pushing!

Facts. I was one of those who learned a lot of grammar first. I learned a lot of verbs. People could talk better than me but ask me verbs. A bit embarrassing 🥴. Now I don’t worry about verbs or grammar I pick it up in conversation and the words stick better when I’m talking and don’t understand the words. I write them down and use them.

My biggest difficulty is remembering the words in conversation. I do pretty well in understanding written text, but when a conversation starts I have problems understanding as well as remembering what to say.

I would absolutely love to grow my Spanish. I took courses over the course of high school and college but it didn’t overly stick. I heard recently that if you do something for 18 minutes a day that by the end of a year that’s 100 hours of experience that you didn’t have. How about making a series like that? I’d definitely follow that. Spanish for beginners in the 18 minutes a day…

Hello guys, I'm a native Spanish speaker and my advice for the day is that there are many countries that speak this beautiful language, each country has its way of speaking it (dialects), what's more, even between cities, states and provinces it changes, so I advise you learn it neutrally and little by little they get a bit of each region, so they can talk with Mexicans, Colombians, Chileans, Argentines, Spaniards, etc.

Lol the Bad Bunny line got me. I was thinking of "Titi me Pregunto". I am trying to learn more Spanish, I have picked up a bit from my wife and her family but it would be awesome to be able to speak with them in their language. The song part I have to agree, altho not for Spanish. I went through that same process he mentions but with Rammstein and I found that I picked up a surprising amount of German unintentionally. My issue with Spanish is, it's usually rap so fast and mumbly, I can't make out words to repeat even Shakira that I listen too regularly, I've not been able to pick up anything. Still holding out for that Spanish industrial metal band to fall in love with

I have a friend who would watch Netflix and switch the lango to Spanish and set subtitles to English then she would set subtitles to Spanish and lango to English and she taught herself that way
What do you think about incorporating the ALG method with daily practice. I don’t want to take 5 years to be fluent, but the method sounds fascinating for speaking and understanding like a native in the long run. Currently, the only channel out there is Dreaming Spanish, which is Castilian, but I plan to focus on Mexican Spanish. Is it a bad idea to watch one of his videos daily as a long term tool?

Latin Spanish is more practical. Catallan Spanish is the original Spain Spanish. Similar to the difference with England English and American English

Thanks for your question. The best thing to do is to continue listening. I know that doesn't sound like the best solution, but the more you hear it over and over the more it will make sense.
Ok thank you I guess what that means is instead of learning word for word just learn what situations the sentences and phrases are used in ,come to think of it we all learned our first language like that by listening to what people said in certain situations

I recommend trying to find interviews in the type of Spanish that you want to learn. For example, if you want to learn Puerto Rican Spanish, then find some interviews featuring Puerto Rican musicians or actors. Then from there UA-cam's algorithm will take you down the rabbit hole lol.

Do you have any tips on learning grammar? I understand most terms and understand a little grammar the verbs really just have so many variables for tenses it sort of throws me off I grew up under mi Tia so I speak quite a bit but I want to learn to be prominent in Spanish. Almost as good as I am in English.

I would like to find a more step by step system and sources where to find it. I only have so little time but really wanna learn Spanish. too much information I dunno where to start searching. Started with duolingo (ADHD brain who need them shiny buttons and animations!) but I keep hearing its not good for learning and so I just feel lost on what to do. and for me its not about learning to be fluent as fast as possible, more so how to feel I progress at a decent pace.
Coming from a black, hispanic mixed family i find that in certain situations im at a disadvantage because i dont know spanish so im going to make attempts to learn so i can broaden my horizons a bit

I currently use the Fluent Forever app because the creator says it’s best to not translate the words but rather think of them using images. Can you explain how his method is actually not helpful?
Actually this is the best way if you want be "truly" fluent. Because then you aren't translating in your head you're actually understanding how a native would. Search up the natural method for learning Spanish. It teaches you entirely in Spanish using helpful images and slowly walking you through as a native speaker would learn in childhood.
