Omagoodness as we say in the southern US colonies (oh, my goodness)... This is delectable as to the arrangement, the playing, and the bright but un-clattery acoustics. I thank you, Brahms thanks you, God thanks you for giving Him a voice. Much love from Washington DC USA.
High quality playing from a superb bunch of musicians. Special shout out to the 1st violinist - extremely accurate and lovely vibrato. The overall blend is fabulous. Such rounded tones!
I. Allegro molto (00:04) - II. Scherzo. Allegro non troppo (12:58) - Trio. Poco più moto (15:58) - III. Adagio non troppo (20:44) - IV. Minuetto I (31:38) - V. Scherzo. Allegro (35:05) - VI. Rondo. Allegro (37:30)
Magnificent music! Outstanding playing, too! Bravo!!!👏👏👏👏 It seems weird to see the musicians play in an empty hall, I bet the musicians find it a bit unsettling at first.
Incomparabile, incommensurabile Johannes Brahms!
I simply love these COVID performances, and especially this one. You can hear each individual instruments contribution to the whole. This is so delightful, an absolutely beautiful performance. I loved it.
Amazing what can be done with small forces and a good acoustic. Very fine performance with all instrumentalists contributing to a sweet-grained performance.
From all the other good performances?, Exquisite balance and timing- thank you. Or ,as we English speakers say, pretending to know Dutch: uitstekende balans en timingn.
What a profoundly beautiful gift is this performance/recording. Thank you to all concerned. One question: I see no microphones, and yet each instrument sounds as if it is close mic’d. Is it just the magic of this wondrous hall - that makes far away mics actually work OK?
Who made the arrangement? Brahms is notorious (ok, ok,.. well-known) for arrangements of his works (Quintet Op.34, Tragic Overture, Piano Concerto in d minor,..) but this does not show up in IMSLP. (There is a two-piano version by the composer, but not this)

Beautiful playing! Katy Woolley knows how to make the horn sing!!!! So... does anyone here know what arrangement/reconstruction they used in this performance? I really want to find the music for this (I actually found this recording as I was preparing for the full orchestra version) and learned that, while Brahms wrote the nonet version first, he destroyed that version in favor of the full orchestra version. Thanks!!!!
One of my favorite Brahms' pieces. I appreciate hearing nonet version which much prefer.

Love a lot this Master Piece. Love Katie Woolley with her horn!!
The empty hall makes a wonderful acoustic for this piece. beautifully played and so rarely heard. Thank you!
No more coughing, no more noises, finally !!!! :-)
Heavenly performance! I cried like a little kid.

Please have the courtesy to acknowledge the musicians properly by naming them with the instruments they play.
This is such a bright and tightly unified performance that just completely blossoms from start to finish.
Thank you very much! Greetings from Brasil! Wonderful Brahms!
