High quality playing from a superb bunch of musicians. Special shout out to the 1st violinist - extremely accurate and lovely vibrato. The overall blend is fabulous. Such rounded tones!

Essentieel bij Brahms is dat je erbij kunt zingen. Maar bij deze uitvoering kun je ook bewegen, dansen zelfs. Hij zit vol emotie. Ik wordt hier echt blij van! Bravo! Luisteren, iedereen!

Muy bonita música de Brahms
Wunderschöne und lebhafte Aufführung dieser perfekt komponierten Serenade im gut phrasierten Tempo mit gut vereinigten und perfekt entsprechenden Tönen der neun genialen Instrumente. Wahrlich ausgezeichnetes Ensemble!

What a profoundly beautiful gift is this performance/recording. Thank you to all concerned. One question: I see no microphones, and yet each instrument sounds as if it is close mic’d. Is it just the magic of this wondrous hall - that makes far away mics actually work OK?
The microphones are suspended from the ceiling.
Who made the arrangement? Brahms is notorious (ok, ok,.. well-known) for arrangements of his works (Quintet Op.34, Tragic Overture, Piano Concerto in d minor,..) but this does not show up in IMSLP. (There is a two-piano version by the composer, but not this)

So... does anyone here know what arrangement/reconstruction they used in this performance? I really want to find the music for this (I actually found this recording as I was preparing for the full orchestra version) and learned that, while Brahms wrote the nonet version first, he destroyed that version in favor of the full orchestra version. Thanks!!!!
