      Hi Laura, I'm so glad you liked the video. I am also a crocheter who learned to knit and the biggest game-changer for me was learning to knit continental style because it's like crocheting with your knitting needles. If you haven't tried it yet, here's a link to continental: ua-cam.com/video/852OwkobTPc/v-deo.html

    Thank you so much Nancy for this wonderful pattern this is one of my favorites forever and ever! I could never completed due to the fact that I was losing my place
    I love using the stitch markers and it is helping my question is when you do find a mistake how do you go back in and fix it taking the stitches off the needle for me often screws up everything that I put it in the right direction it becomes a mess and that’s where I have to start again

    What size knitting needle please . Can I use a 5mm knitting needles

    • @nobleknits
      @nobleknits  2 роки тому

      Hi Maureen, I used size US 6 (4mm) needles with a DK weight #3 yarn. If you are going to go up to a size US 8 (5mm) needle, I recommend also using a thicker yarn such as a worsted weight #4 yarn. The reason for this is that if you use a 5mm needle on a DK weight yarn, your project may end up looking too open and stringy. However, if you prefer to use the 5mm needle, going up to a slightly thicker yarn will produce a better-looking finished blanket. As a general rule, always look at the yarn label to see what needle size is recommended for the best results. Also, if you do choose to go up to a size 5mm and use a worsted weight yarn, your overall project will be larger than the one I created and you'll need a bit more yarn. Let me know how it works out for you! 😀

      Hi Doreen, size US 6 straight needles that are 13-14” long will work great. I’ve provided a link to straight needles in the description.

    Can you use a a four weight yarn

    • @nobleknits
      @nobleknits  3 роки тому

      Hi Evelyn, Yes you can use a #4 (worsted weight) yarn for this project. Just be sure to use the needle size recommended on the YARN LABEL, not the size in the pattern. Your blanket will be a little bit larger when finished. 😀

    • @nobleknits

      Hi Lalitha, Great question! There is NO SEWING involved in this project. The tapestry needle is only used to sew in the yarn ends at the beginning and end of the project. 😀

    Hello, can you please explain why at the end of row one my stitches have increased

  • @CosmicEngimas

    Just started this project and VERY new to knitting. When do I remove the stitch markers? Do I leave them on the whole time I’m working on the blanket? Or do I take them off after row 4? And then re add them the next row 3 that I’m on? Please help.

    • @nobleknits
      @nobleknits  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Jessica, Put them on your needles and then leave them. On all non-shaping rows, just slip the stitch markers from one needle to another and ignore them. You won't be removing them until you are at the bind-off row. My best tips for success on this project: Keep track of rows. I write the row repeats on a piece of paper for example, 1,2,3,4...1,2,3,4, etc. When I finish a row, I check it off on the paper. That way, I can put down my knitting and when I come back to it, I always know what row I'm on. The second tip is to count your stitches. If you get in the habit of counting your stitches every few rows, you'll be able to catch mistakes quickly and correct them.

      Thanks for getting me into knitting in such a encouraging and easy to comprehend way! You are an absolute gem! I’m very excited because I’m already seeing the wavy pattern come out and I cannot wait to present this gift to my best friends who are having a baby in June.

      @@nobleknits One easy way to keep track of a repeat is to have an index card with the number of rows of the repeat and use a paper clip to mark which row of the repeat you're on. For example, for this pattern with a four row repeat. Mark 1 2 3 4 on the side of an index card. Each time you complete a row, move the paper clip to the number row you are up to or to cover the number row you just finished, whichever is easier for you to remember.

    Can you please explain how to bind off once the blanket is finished. I know how to bind off when it has a straight edged, but this will be wavy and I am not sure.

    • @Dev-ld4gi
      @Dev-ld4gi 10 місяців тому +1

      Hi! I just made this pattern and I did a regular bind off (same as she showed in her beginner shawl video for example) and I think that’s all it takes! Once I was finished, the edge naturally became wavy from the tension of the pattern.
