Yes in the beginning how he acted raised a lot of red flags for me, especially the “GET IN THE CAR ELLE” part. But he has major anger problems that he can’t control, and he was a little over protective. But he genuinely cared ab her and would never physically hurt her. Elle was the only one that could calm him down. That alone showed that he cared for her and would never lay a hand on her. From personal experience anger issues are very hard to control. When someone says just the right thing to push you over the edge, you can’t go back. Not until someone steps in or you calm down. When Lee blames Noah fro the cut on Elles face, Noah gets mad Noah he knew that he would never hurt Elle. But Lee wouldn’t believe him. At this point in the movie Noah had gotten a grip on his anger issues bc of Elle, so being accused of hurting the person that he loved and that had helped him grow as a person so much was rly hard to hear. For the controlling part, when Elle asked Noah to stop controlling her life he did. But he was never rly controlling her life, he told the players at the school to stay away from Elle to keep her from getting hurt. Bc he couldn’t stand to see her be hurt. You have to remember that she had just lost her mom not long before the movie takes place and Noah had to watch Elle go though everything with her mom. You can imagine how much that must of killed Noah to see her like that, if he cared ab her when it was happening. If you look at the facts you can see why he was protecting her from the players at the school. He didn’t want to see her get hurt again. And he never forced her to date him and he made her happy. Noah even tells Mr. Evens that he shouldn’t of let it happen but wasn’t sry that it did. He was also never toxic just lost and didn’t know who he was. Major anger issues can do that to someone. If it wasn’t for Elle Noah would be in a completely different spot then he is at the end of the first move and in the second.

The way Noah cared about Elle, protected her, and loved her, is exactly why he's my absolute favorite character. His voice is tender with her... And the way he looks at her was so heartwarming and so attractive. Even when he told her not to move to Boston it was an act of love... Cute films
There never rly were red flags. Yes some things he does in the beginning of the movie are very questionable. But he was never abusive, toxic, or very controlling. All the girls were throwing themselves at him, so he had an ego. And he had anger issues, anger issues alone can mess with a person and make them lost and not know who they are. Elle set him straight, if it wasn’t for her he would not have grown as a person as much as he did. Yes he was a little controlling, but more protective. He didn’t want to see her hurt again. Her mom did just die a little before the movie takes place, so she most likely had just started to be able to move on. Noah watched her go though everything she did with her mom, it must of killed him to watch her go though that and not be able to do anything. When she did “ask” him to stop “controlling” her life he did listen. And he never forced her to date him, she did willingly. When he goes to talk to Mr. Evens he even says that he shouldn’t of let it happen, but he wasn’t sry it did. If he was controlling he would of never said that.
