Let’s be honest here: Peeta was going into that 75th arena no matter which men’s name was pulled. He would’ve fought with Haymitch more if Haymitch had volunteered. Peeta is literally one of the best book boyfriends I’ve ever had and one of my favorite book characters. He comes from a family where he mother hurts him and while one brother was too old to volunteer, the one that could’ve didn’t. While his main goal should’ve been protecting himself, it became protecting Katniss...and eventually it became Katniss protecting him. She picked Peeta over Gale because she and Peeta shared something Gale would never understand. Would he even KNOW how to handle her nightmares? Honestly one of my favorite relationships in any series.

This series of books taught me about the concept of an unreliable narrator. Katniss is so blinded by her desire to survive it doesn’t occur to her very often that some people are just kind because that’s who they are. She falls in love (without knowing) with his kindness. She falls in love with the fact that he can see beauty in a world where she may only see hurt. It’s what makes her unable to survive without him.
Yes but i think she somehow knows that Peeta represent all of that, kindness, love and the beauty of that world. That's why she always try so hard to protect him but it's not until the end that she embrace it.
This is amazing ❤ he gives her hope in their dark world… the end scene is so fitting for Peetas character as a kind father. With him she was able to have a safe world for her children to live in ❤
Here again we see Peeta being selfless,…not thinking of his own life,..but worried Katniss might die trying to get medicine to save him,..know the question is,..” if katniss was really pretending to love peeta at this moment,..why was she willing to risk her life to get the medicine for him?”,…it doesn’t make sense!

I know that Katniss not knowing she loved Peeta was part of the storyline but I kinda wish Katniss payed more attention to Peeta coz hes literally like the sweetest boy ever. He was literally willing to die for her and he even said that if Katniss died, he would have nothing to live for. He would actually protect Katniss from her nightmares. Like he is the sweetest!

But then at the end of it all, all Katniss thought about was Peeta. She's willing to save him and to die for him. She does everything to keep him safe. Even when everyone was saying that Peeta was a traitor, she never doubted him. Even when he's hurting her, she's soft to him. She deserves Peeta.
She was not indifferent to him then. That was the moment she was telling haymitch to save Peeta over her. And she absolutely does NOT deserve Peeta. He’s too good for her!

I think it’s beautiful how well they compliment each other. Katniss is the LITERAL “girl on fire”, her passion, drive, stubbornness. Peeta’s personality has always mellowed that out with her in a way that Gale couldn’t.
I managed to not cry the entire time but at the end when Peeta said. “You love me?.” “Real or not real?” and she said real I just started balling it was so sweet. I love this series.😭
I'd honestly been holding my breath, worrying she'd end up with Gale, until that very moment. I thought I knew where it was going but worried I was wrong. In a thousand lesser works, that WOULD be the ending. But this writer understood, Cause Guy does not make a good partner unless you are Cause Girl--and Katniss was not Cause Girl. She cared about the cause so Gale mistook her for Cause Girl, but Katniss was a whole person, not consumed by a cause and willing to sacrifice all at any cost. Gale wanted Katniss to be Cause Girl. Peeta wanted Katniss to be Katniss. "Real or not real?" "Real," is one of the most romantic things I've ever witnessed. So beautiful.
I think the hardest thing for Katniss was having to choose between Peeta and Gale. I feel like even from the very beginning Katniss didn't wanna believe she loved Peeta. She just ignored her feelings for him so that she and him didn't get hurt. I feel like she knew they could only be together in a perfect world and that if they were together something would happen and break both. After awhile I think Katniss realized that no matter what her feelings for Peeta were growing and that no matter what she couldn't live without him. For her Gale would've been the safe choice. No risks. But since when has Katniss Everdean not taken a risk. I absolutely adore these two together and is hands down the best couple in any movie series I've ever had the pleasure of watching.
If you actually read the books you would know she never struggled between her feelings for Gals of Petta, she simply struggled with her feelings for Petta, gale was never a real choice or even an option.

I think that’s because she had wanted Peeta from the beginning but knew she couldn’t and that the safer choice would be gale so that’s why she showed interest in him.

I cried my eyes out and couldn't sleep for days after finishing all three novels, and I still can't convince myself it's the end... I'm not a heavy reader, but this is the first time I've ever enjoyed reading a book so much that I'm willing to read it again and again, knowing what will happen but still feeling excited about it. This book is ideal for me as it contains action, romance, adventure, and so on. However, what I most like about this novel is the relationship between the two and how it affected their lives, which elevates it from a 10/10 to a 12/10, though I wish Katniss had admitted she loved Peeta sooner. I am overjoyed that they have chosen each other and will live happily ever after while I watch them pull it all together and face the obstacles along the way! Now, when watching this beautiful video for the tenth time, let me reflect on how lonely I am and how I wish I could ever experience this kind of romance...

When Peeta says he wished he gave the bread to the pig. 😭 Felt like my heart dropped out of my chest. These 2 actors are amazing. They were both perfect in this movie and even though their portrayals were very understated in that particular scene they still conveyed so much emotion. Love these movies and books so much.
@@06pewpew09 it’s about 15 minutes into the video and happens in Mockingjay. She visits Peeta in the district 12 hospital after coming back from district 2 where they had bombed the nut and someone shot her. Seeing her be shot on TV triggered the memory of the bread for Peeta.
For God's sake, he is the kindest. The most genuine person who wants nothing but sincerely love her. When they hijacked him, man.. it really broke my heart into pieces. Whenever katniss cried when she looked at him, i can tell that it hurts so damn much. Seeing his biggest fear comes to reality by turning him, the kindest person, into someone he's absolutely not is just so fckn cruel. Cz basically it's his patience and his kindness that went straight directly into katniss' heart. He's been so patience and knocked her heart for so long until she finally opens herself and love him so damn much in return
I still say that Finnick did not deserve to die. Towards the end he became one of Katniss’s best friends because of what similar things they went through. One of my fav scenes of what Katniss says about him is when finnick has already passed away and Katniss says she needs someone to talk to but everyone she wants to talk to is dead or not with her and Finnick is the Second after Boggs. It broke my heart ♥️

I also hated when she kissed Gale. Katniss and Peeta are soulmates, and to be honest, whenever she kissed Gale I wanted to turn the movie off because 1. it wasn’t even like she enjoyed the kiss. 2. When she kissed Peeta it was liked she enjoyed it, and it wasn’t like that with Gale.
the movies didn’t do them enough justice in my opinion. catching fire was when their relationship escalated but we don’t really see that turning point in a way that was(lack of a better word) powerful. i’m still bitter the film kept out their scene on the roof and how they also kept out how she continuously felt that peeta symbolized the dandelion she found when she was starving in the first book, how he symbolizes hope and life. she couldn’t exactly admit how she felt about him throughout the books but i think if the films had given her an inner monologue, people who didn’t read the books would’ve been able to understand that he was never a second choice!
I do agree! I think had they given Katniss an inner monologue, it would’ve in a way had a ‘Twilight’ feel, and at the time, The Hunger Games was being compared to Twilight a lot in the media since Twilight was the last big movie franchise with a loosely put,similar, storyline in terms of romance. I thought I remembered reading somewhere they tried to give her an inner monologue and Jennifer filmed voiceovers, but in the end it just didn’t work. BUT this was 10 years ago so I could be wrong.
i think the only 'nod' to the dandelion is at the ending scene when Peeta held it up to his son, and the kid tried to grab it while Katniss overlooks them. Or at least I hope it's a dandelion and not a random flower.
I have never understood why they took out the building of their relationship! Everything that happened with them in Catching fire is beyond adorable. The rooftop scene, the plant book, their walks around town, when Katniss called him to make sure he got home safe because it was snowing and he’s all Katniss I live three doors away from you, their interaction when the peacekeepers came when Katniss got stuck in the forest. The training, them on the train to the Capitol watching Haymitch’s arena when Katniss was so happy Peeta finally hugged her since the quell announcement. Overall I thought they did a decent job adapting the books, but they really cut out their relationship and Peeta as a character.
Best book to film adaptation ever.. as someone who grew up during the dystopian series hype, my nerves going into these films was sky high, as they were with a few other adaptations at the time. But I knew, as soon as I saw the casting, that they wouldn’t let us down. They did the books justice, and included as much of the original dialogue as I’ve ever seen used in an adaptation. Absolute brilliant work from everyone involved and I’m forever thankful that my favorite book series stayed as iconic on screen.. especially when so many others were completely ruined ! Katniss and Peeta, my OTP.. real or not real? REAL !!!

What a beautiful video. Watching their story like this really makes you realize how perfect Peeta was for Katniss. She had every reason to be cynical and jaded (and she often was), but Peeta's unwavering kindness showed her something beyond that. He always gave her hope, even after she lost everything.
I still remember walking out of the cinema after watching Catching Fire and heading straight for the book store in the mall, grabbing Mockingjay off the new releases section and buying it in a breath just because I couldn't imagine having to wait two more years to find out whether she was sensible enough to choose Peeta or not. And I will never forget how pleased I was with the ending. Especially when she said that she had a lot of fire in her and she didn't sit well with someone like Gale who had similar vigour. Instead she chose Peeta because he was like the ice on her burns. I could relate to that so much because my personality is very similar to Katniss' and that's exactly what I want in my love life too but instead I attract men with similar fire in them. She was lucky to find Peeta and I'm glad that the author was so emotionally intelligent with framing her characters. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
And I also loved that seen in “Catching Fire” where they were in the beach shore, and they had the whole conversation and then they kissed. That was by far the best scene in the entire series I think. (Besides the end when they had kids, and when they met each other again at the end)😭😭
i cant even explain their love for each other. it’s just so amazing how you can watch a couple not have to show their love through sexual interactions but show love through their actions. He wanted her to win even if it meant he died making sure she did. he only thought of her in everything even if he knew her love for him was at the time nothing but a show. he always protected her no matter what even if he strongly believed she belonged to someone else. She made sure haymitch took his place so he wouldn’t die and couldn’t sleep knowing he was with snow and unsafe. Basically did everything she could to get him back to her. Stayed with him when he was hurt and risked her life to get him medicine. That’s love. I love them i can’t.
i love how Haymitch in 13 becomes like katniss's dad and keeps her safe and is always there for her and when Peeta sees Katniss singing the hanging tree he fights against the hijacking and I almost started crying
something heart breaking is realizing that peets will *never* be the same. after he got brainwashed, something changed. sure, hes still peeta now, but the old him is gone. he will never be like he was before, and its sad when you start to notice it as well.
Katniss only realised what she had after she lost him the first time to Snow. But I’m glad she was able to accept the new him. In a way the new Peeta became like Katniss and the new Katniss became like Peeta 😊
You know, people label people like me who like Gale’s character as hating these two’s relationship but they are starkly mistaken. Gale and Katniss don’t fit anymore, not since the games. Trauma changed her, and while they could’ve remained best friends, they weren’t fit for romance anymore. Peeta and Katniss have been through so much for each other, and they’ve grown as people and from teenagers to adults with one another. Their romance as it was built for them, fits this story perfectly.
And Peeta is always kind and understanding unlike Gale. Peeta can live being the side person if that means she will be happy with Gale but not Gale. When they plan to leave and just live in the forest Gale gets mad when the mention of Peeta coming to them came out in Katniss' mouth.
I absolutely love their relationship and just the way that they will go to meet death right in the face for each other, they way they look at each other, and the way that Peeta holds her just sends chills down my spine.
This series is all I live for. My obsession comes back every 2 months and it gets bad. Btw they’re love is so well presented in the books so make sure to read them
Same! I mean, since 2012 that this movie was released, I started following their story. I couldn't imagined how many times I've watched this movie series. Also, after learning that I have a fascination for reading books, this trilogy was the first series I got to add on my library and read just 4 days straight. But, if you know Gregor the Overlander, book series that Suzzane Collins also published, even if they're more likely for 'teens/pre-young people' you might wanna read all of them in one sitting. Same with hunger games, you'll make your eyes bawling for weeks.

Do you know what’s funny? When I first read these, I was dating my best friend. We’d been best friends three years before we ever started dating. And I was totally team Gale then. I read the books 1st and there was more Gale in them, and I thought that the best friends should always end up together. Three years later, it’s been almost a year and a half since I had to break up with him. We were extremely mentally compatible and we got along famously as besties… But I had never been romantically or sexually attracted to him. We dated for *two years* as I silently tried to get those feelings to blossom. But they never did. Meanwhile he was head over heels for me. I had to break his heart rather than marry him when I didn’t feel IN love with him…I just loved him. Now I have to say I’m team Peeta, because I understand how Katniss felt-or rather, didn’t feel. It would have been so romantic if the lifelong best friends ended up together, right? I thought that’s how it should’ve gone, back then. Now I have more perspective now that I’ve been through some shit. How’s that for a tragedy.

@nomadhermit I’m totally on that boat w you. My best friend fell in love w me in 10th grade when I met him. I knew he had a crush but he never did anything and I didn’t because I only saw him as a friend. Then after high school I decided to try and give him a chance. Well more like have myself a chance to see if my feelings could blossom into what he felt for me. Unfortunately after five months together, I had to break his heart. I was really scare the friendship would diminish and I’d lose my best friend but fortunately I didn’t. We’re still very close and have now reached family status so although he’s still in love w me romantically, I have a different kind of love for him.

This whole series just completely wrecks a person from the inside out. The relationship that Katniss and Peeta form with their love forming through so much tragedy and what they are both willing to do for each other to keep each other safe and alive. Even when captured Peeta was still doing everything in his power to protect Katniss. With watching him suffer through the tv screen and her feeling so helpless knowing she couldn’t protect him, truly shows how much she truly loves him. Because Peeta and her not only share a mutual understanding of how the games really impacts their lives but as also said in the book, Peeta has a sense of inner peace that Katniss needed to go on with her life. Their love story while having a sweet ending still had so much heartbreak and suffering. It honestly shows in such a real light that no relationship is perfect and with so many challenges as well that if you truly love a person these challenges can be conquered. This series while my favourite always has the ability to completely ruin me and I love it.
I-I have no words. I love these 2. I remember when Katniss thought Peeta was a murderer. I was so in love with them - his way with words, her way with war. How I nearly cried when he was hijacked..and how I clung to every crumb of his return. And this editor brought that to justice. And showed how Katniss would do anything for the boy with the bread. And the, “I’m not losing you again…” I literally looked up if Peeta’s normal self returned, and I found something even more beautiful. They healed together. I CANT
I can’t stop my tears This edit is a beautiful masterpiece, it made me realize how great of a series this actually was. Watching and remembering all of the characters and their bonds brought tears to my eyes. Even now I’m still amazed by everyone’s acting, the script, everything really. Sorry if I’m blabbering but I just wanna say Thanks for making this edit, it made me want to revisit my childhood and reread/watch the series. Books are magic. They’re an escape from reality, a dream brought to life. And a good book, is what my childhood is built on. I’ve learnt great things from people who never existed. I know some characters better than my own family. This really was a great experience, thank you so much for this.
There’s so many things I love about them. Specifically a few. I love that it started out as a mutually beneficial situation that neither of them were happy about. (Katniss hated the fakery, Peeta hated it not being real) but that turned really fast into an actual connection. They had shared trauma. Another thing I love is how they treat each other when the other is hurt or upset. The nightmares, the injuries in the games, the confusion of their new lives. All of it. And then he forgot who she really was. But even through that, she still had a soft spot. She couldn’t be around him because it hurt too much to see his body without HIM in it. And then by the end of the whole thing… everything that happened… they always came out on the other side as a team. Plus the “stay with me” “always” is so frickin cute. So there’s that too.
If you read the books i think Katniss has a crush on Peeta since that day with bread. She checks him out from time to time. She is just so busy keeping everything together for her family to know that.
When I was younger I thought she should end up with Gale. But after few years I rewatched Hunger Games again and my opinion has turned 180 degrees. I was so surprised of myself when I was blushing at their 75th games kiss ('cause I never did). I kind of realize that Katniss and Peeta's relationship is more mature, more mutual, deeper that Katniss and Gale. So yeah, I'm finally team Peeta!
I'm here again after rewatching THG, and I realized something. While Gale and Katniss are talking, Katniss said she can't live faraway in the forest, without anybody and Prim won't like it. Katniss also don't want to have a children, but in the end she lives in forest with primroses, with her children, and with Peeta.
The thing is, this movie (s) is so iconic and it's crazy that they went from barely wanting to hold hands to they could not survive without one another. 💜 love this
Gale said to Peeta ‘she’s going to choose the one she can’t live without’ and in the end even though it took her a long time to realize it it was always Peeta she couldn’t live without she was willing to die for him because if there was a world without Peeta in it she didn’t want to be in

One random thing I really love about them being together is how Katniss states "We are NOT star-crossed lovers!" Reason being is that star-crossed implies they were never meant to be in that lifetime. So in this case, she claimed it with all her heart, and was absolutely right ❤ tragic beginnings don't always have to end that way. It also is possible to make it through alive, but it is still so long as both parties are willing to fight for it.
Everyone overlooked Peeta in the beginning: Katniss is older and taller than him as opposed Mr. Prince Charming Gale who had all boxes checked except that he was just an empty shell while Peeta had way more substance. Never been this happy to see two fictional characters end up together.👏👏
Its like in the first games, after finding a wounded Peeta , Katniss took upon herself as her responsibility, enforced by herself, to save Peeta. From dying. From the capitol. From the world. People said it was the capitol's propaganda to fabricate an apparent love affair. But as the song Fire on Fire suggests, " don't let them ruin our beautiful rhythm", yeah, katniss was falling hard for this boy in her own comfortable rhythm , while being unaware herself. When Peeta's heart stopped in the catching fire, as correctly observed by finnick, katniss broke apart too, momentarily. She didnt understand that from protecting peeta in the games to the desire being transformed slowly, lovingly, into protecting peeta from the world, till she lost him at the end of the catching fire. She knew, she could escape the hunger games if luck pulled its strings but purposeless not entirely but mostly . In a world without Peeta, in a world without the softness and beauty he brought along , a world which she only saw as an oppressive greedy monstrous world, till peeta came along. She realized, that now her heart took on the responsibility of protecting him, with her life, her heart did . In her life. Not just her mind. Like in the games. That's love. A fresh blossom of dandelion in spring :)
From the first time I watched the Hunger Games I’ve always been team Peeta. Never read the books but rewatch the trilogy at least once every year that’s how much I love it. I just rewatched it and honestly I can’t understand how anyone ever wanted Katnis with Gale. I love how Peeta never pressured her about making “a choice”. He just simply loved her whether she felt the same or not

Let’s be honest here: Peeta was going into that 75th arena no matter which men’s name was pulled. He would’ve fought with Haymitch more if Haymitch had volunteered. Peeta is literally one of the best book boyfriends I’ve ever had and one of my favorite book characters. He comes from a family where he mother hurts him and while one brother was too old to volunteer, the one that could’ve didn’t. While his main goal should’ve been protecting himself, it became protecting Katniss...and eventually it became Katniss protecting him. She picked Peeta over Gale because she and Peeta shared something Gale would never understand. Would he even KNOW how to handle her nightmares? Honestly one of my favorite relationships in any series.

This series of books taught me about the concept of an unreliable narrator. Katniss is so blinded by her desire to survive it doesn’t occur to her very often that some people are just kind because that’s who they are. She falls in love (without knowing) with his kindness. She falls in love with the fact that he can see beauty in a world where she may only see hurt. It’s what makes her unable to survive without him.

In a thousand lesser works, that WOULD be the ending. But this writer understood, Cause Guy does not make a good partner unless you are Cause Girl--and Katniss was not Cause Girl. She cared about the cause so Gale mistook her for Cause Girl, but Katniss was a whole person, not consumed by a cause and willing to sacrifice all at any cost.

I think the hardest thing for Katniss was having to choose between Peeta and Gale. I feel like even from the very beginning Katniss didn't wanna believe she loved Peeta. She just ignored her feelings for him so that she and him didn't get hurt. I feel like she knew they could only be together in a perfect world and that if they were together something would happen and break both. After awhile I think Katniss realized that no matter what her feelings for Peeta were growing and that no matter what she couldn't live without him. For her Gale would've been the safe choice. No risks. But since when has Katniss Everdean not taken a risk. I absolutely adore these two together and is hands down the best couple in any movie series I've ever had the pleasure of watching.

I cried my eyes out and couldn't sleep for days after finishing all three novels, and I still can't convince myself it's the end... I'm not a heavy reader, but this is the first time I've ever enjoyed reading a book so much that I'm willing to read it again and again, knowing what will happen but still feeling excited about it. This book is ideal for me as it contains action, romance, adventure, and so on. However, what I most like about this novel is the relationship between the two and how it affected their lives, which elevates it from a 10/10 to a 12/10, though I wish Katniss had admitted she loved Peeta sooner. I am overjoyed that they have chosen each other and will live happily ever after while I watch them pull it all together and face the obstacles along the way! Now, when watching this beautiful video for the tenth time, let me reflect on how lonely I am and how I wish I could ever experience this kind of romance...

When Peeta says he wished he gave the bread to the pig. 😭 Felt like my heart dropped out of my chest. These 2 actors are amazing. They were both perfect in this movie and even though their portrayals were very understated in that particular scene they still conveyed so much emotion. Love these movies and books so much.

For God's sake, he is the kindest. The most genuine person who wants nothing but sincerely love her. When they hijacked him, man.. it really broke my heart into pieces. Whenever katniss cried when she looked at him, i can tell that it hurts so damn much. the movies didn’t do them enough justice in my opinion. catching fire was when their relationship escalated but we don’t really see that turning point in a way that was(lack of a better word) powerful. i’m still bitter the film kept out their scene on the roof and how they also kept out how she continuously felt that peeta symbolized the dandelion she found when she was starving in the first book, how he symbolizes hope and life. she couldn’t exactly admit how she felt about him throughout the books but i think if the films had given her an inner monologue, people who didn’t read the books would’ve been able to understand that he was never a second choice!
I do agree! I think had they given Katniss an inner monologue, it would’ve in a way had a ‘Twilight’ feel, and at the time, The Hunger Games was being compared to Twilight a lot in the media since Twilight was the last big movie franchise with a loosely put,similar, storyline in terms of romance. I thought I remembered reading somewhere they tried to give her an inner monologue and Jennifer filmed voiceovers, but in the end it just didn’t work. BUT this was 10 years ago so I could be wrong.
i think the only 'nod' to the dandelion is at the ending scene when Peeta held it up to his son, and the kid tried to grab it while Katniss overlooks them. Or at least I hope it's a dandelion and not a random flower.
In my opinion the last movie developed their relationship better than the book.
I have never understood why they took out the building of their relationship! Everything that happened with them in Catching fire is beyond adorable. The rooftop scene, the plant book, their walks around town, when Katniss called him to make sure he got home safe because it was snowing and he’s all Katniss I live three doors away from you, their interaction when the peacekeepers came when Katniss got stuck in the forest. The training, them on the train to the Capitol watching Haymitch’s arena when Katniss was so happy Peeta finally hugged her since the quell announcement. Overall I thought they did a decent job adapting the books, but they really cut out their relationship and Peeta as a character.

Best book to film adaptation ever.. as someone who grew up during the dystopian series hype, my nerves going into these films was sky high, as they were with a few other adaptations at the time. But I knew, as soon as I saw the casting, that they wouldn’t let us down. They did the books justice, and included as much of the original dialogue as I’ve ever seen used in an adaptation. Absolute brilliant work from everyone involved and I’m forever thankful that my favorite book series stayed as iconic on screen.. especially when so many others were completely ruined ! Katniss and Peeta, my OTP.. real or not real? REAL !!!

What a beautiful video. Watching their story like this really makes you realize how perfect Peeta was for Katniss. She had every reason to be cynical and jaded (and she often was), but Peeta's unwavering kindness showed her something beyond that. He always gave her hope, even after she lost everything.

I still remember walking out of the cinema after watching Catching Fire and heading straight for the book store in the mall, grabbing Mockingjay off the new releases section and buying it in a breath just because I couldn't imagine having to wait two more years to find out whether she was sensible enough to choose Peeta or not.
And I will never forget how pleased I was with the ending. Especially when she said that she had a lot of fire in her and she didn't sit well with someone like Gale who had similar vigour. Instead she chose Peeta because he was like the ice on her burns. I could relate to that so much because my personality is very similar to Katniss' and that's exactly what I want in my love life too but instead I attract men with similar fire in them. She was lucky to find Peeta and I'm glad that the author was so emotionally intelligent with framing her characters. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
And I also loved that seen in “Catching Fire” where they were in the beach shore, and they had the whole conversation and then they kissed. That was by far the best scene in the entire series I think. (Besides the end when they had kids, and when they met each other again at the end)😭😭

i cant even explain their love for each other. it’s just so amazing how you can watch a couple not have to show their love through sexual interactions but show love through their actions. He wanted her to win even if it meant he died making sure she did. he only thought of her in everything even if he knew her love for him was at the time nothing but a show. he always protected her no matter what even if he strongly believed she belonged to someone else. She made sure haymitch took his place so he wouldn’t die and couldn’t sleep knowing he was with snow and unsafe. Basically did everything she could to get him back to her. Stayed with him when he was hurt and risked her life to get him medicine. That’s love. I love them i can’t.

something heart breaking is realizing that peets will *never* be the same. after he got brainwashed, something changed. sure, hes still peeta now, but the old him is gone. he will never be like he was before, and its sad when you start to notice it as well.
Katniss only realised what she had after she lost him the first time to Snow. But I’m glad she was able to accept the new him. In a way the new Peeta became like Katniss and the new Katniss became like Peeta 😊

You know, people label people like me who like Gale’s character as hating these two’s relationship but they are starkly mistaken. Gale and Katniss don’t fit anymore, not since the games. Trauma changed her, and while they could’ve remained best friends, they weren’t fit for romance anymore. Peeta and Katniss have been through so much for each other, and they’ve grown as people and from teenagers to adults with one another. Their romance as it was built for them, fits this story perfectly.

Same! I mean, since 2012 that this movie was released, I started following their story. I couldn't imagined how many times I've watched this movie series. Also, after learning that I have a fascination for reading books, this trilogy was the first series I got to add on my library and read just 4 days straight. But, if you know Gregor the Overlander, book series that Suzzane Collins also published, even if they're more likely for 'teens/pre-young people' you might wanna read all of them in one sitting. Same with hunger games, you'll make your eyes bawling for weeks.
For someone who doesn't believe love will ever come to them...this is the perfect example of how undying love should be. This is a great edit. Thank you.

Do you know what’s funny? When I first read these, I was dating my best friend. We’d been best friends three years before we ever started dating. And I was totally team Gale then. I read the books 1st and there was more Gale in them, and I thought that the best friends should always end up together.
Three years later, it’s been almost a year and a half since I had to break up with him. We were extremely mentally compatible and we got along famously as besties… But I had never been romantically or sexually attracted to him. We dated for *two years* as I silently tried to get those feelings to blossom. But they never did. Meanwhile he was head over heels for me.
I had to break his heart rather than marry him when I didn’t feel IN love with him…I just loved him. Now I have to say I’m team Peeta, because I understand how Katniss felt-or rather, didn’t feel. It would have been so romantic if the lifelong best friends ended up together, right? I thought that’s how it should’ve gone, back then. Now I have more perspective now that I’ve been through some shit.

I knew he had a crush but he never did anything and I didn’t because I only saw him as a friend. Then after high school I decided to try and give him a chance. Well more like have myself a chance to see if my feelings could blossom into what he felt for me. Unfortunately after five months together, I had to break his heart. I was really scare the friendship would diminish and I’d lose my best friend but fortunately I didn’t. We’re still very close and have now reached family status so although he’s still in love w me romantically, I have a different kind of love for him.

This whole series just completely wrecks a person from the inside out. The relationship that Katniss and Peeta form with their love forming through so much tragedy and what they are both willing to do for each other to keep each other safe and alive. Even when captured Peeta was still doing everything in his power to protect Katniss. With watching him suffer through the tv screen and her feeling so helpless knowing she couldn’t protect him, truly shows how much she truly loves him. Because Peeta and her not only share a mutual understanding of how the games really impacts their lives but as also said in the book, Peeta has a sense of inner peace that Katniss needed to go on with her life. Their love story while having a sweet ending still had so much heartbreak and suffering. It honestly shows in such a real light that no relationship is perfect and with so many challenges as well that if you truly love a person these challenges can be conquered. This series while my favourite always has the ability to completely ruin me and I love it.
I-I have no words. I love these 2. I remember when Katniss thought Peeta was a murderer. I was so in love with them - his way with words, her way with war. How I nearly cried when he was hijacked..and how I clung to every crumb of his return. And this editor brought that to justice. And showed how Katniss would do anything for the boy with the bread. And the, “I’m not losing you again…” I literally looked up if Peeta’s normal self returned, and I found something even more beautiful. They healed together.

Books are magic. They’re an escape from reality, a dream brought to life.
And a good book, is what my childhood is built on. I’ve learnt great things from people who never existed. I know some characters better than my own family.

There’s so many things I love about them. Specifically a few. I love that it started out as a mutually beneficial situation that neither of them were happy about. (Katniss hated the fakery, Peeta hated it not being real) but that turned really fast into an actual connection. They had shared trauma. Another thing I love is how they treat each other when the other is hurt or upset. The nightmares, the injuries in the games, the confusion of their new lives. All of it. And then he forgot who she really was. But even through that, she still had a soft spot. She couldn’t be around him because it hurt too much to see his body without HIM in it. And then by the end of the whole thing… everything that happened… they always came out on the other side as a team. Plus the “stay with me” “always” is so frickin cute. So there’s that too.

If you read the books i think Katniss has a crush on Peeta since that day with bread. She checks him out from time to time. She is just so busy keeping everything together for her family to know that.
When I was younger I thought she should end up with Gale. But after few years I rewatched Hunger Games again and my opinion has turned 180 degrees. I was so surprised of myself when I was blushing at their 75th games kiss ('cause I never did). I kind of realize that Katniss and Peeta's relationship is more mature, more mutual, deeper that Katniss and Gale. So yeah, I'm finally team Peeta!

I'm here again after rewatching THG, and I realized something. While Gale and Katniss are talking, Katniss said she can't live faraway in the forest, without anybody and Prim won't like it. Katniss also don't want to have a children, but in the end she lives in forest with primroses, with her children, and with Peeta.

One random thing I really love about them being together is how Katniss states "We are NOT star-crossed lovers!" Reason being is that star-crossed implies they were never meant to be in that lifetime. So in this case, she claimed it with all her heart, and was absolutely right ❤ tragic beginnings don't always have to end that way. It also is possible to make it through alive, but it is still so long as both parties are willing to fight for it.

Everyone overlooked Peeta in the beginning: Katniss is older and taller than him as opposed Mr. Prince Charming Gale who had all boxes checked except that he was just an empty shell while Peeta had way more substance. Never been this happy to see two fictional characters end up together.👏👏

Its like in the first games, after finding a wounded Peeta , Katniss took upon herself as her responsibility, enforced by herself, to save Peeta. From dying. From the capitol. From the world. People said it was the capitol's propaganda to fabricate an apparent love affair. But as the song Fire on Fire suggests, " don't let them ruin our beautiful rhythm", yeah, katniss was falling hard for this boy in her own comfortable rhythm , while being unaware herself. When Peeta's heart stopped in the catching fire, as correctly observed by finnick, katniss broke apart too, momentarily. She didnt understand that from protecting peeta in the games to the desire being transformed slowly, lovingly, into protecting peeta from the world, till she lost him at the end of the catching fire. She knew, she could escape the hunger games if luck pulled its strings but purposeless not entirely but mostly . In a world without Peeta, in a world without the softness and beauty he brought along , a world which she only saw as an oppressive greedy monstrous world, till peeta came along. She realized, that now her heart took on the responsibility of protecting him, with her life, her heart did . In her life. Not just her mind. Like in the games. That's love. A fresh blossom of dandelion in spring :)

He just simply loved her whether she felt the same or not
